The Goodwin

I like that everything was great, from customer service, cleanliness, and comfort. Every person that I encounter myself with is very friendly and polite. People who stood at The Goodwin were also very friendly.

I didn't like that it didn't have many options for breakfast. I think that a breakfast bar or something similar should be added to the hotel. It would be great if the rooms had a jacuzzi as well. I had a bad experience in parking on the side of the hotel, and I will do valet next time. Downtown Hartford didn't look as bad as what happened to my car. It's not a hotel issue, more of a city issue.

Property was spacious, clean and staff was very friendly. Bed very comfy.

No breakfast, no restaurants close-by for coffee! Keurig machines outdated and not hygienic. Needs hook in bathroom: huge bathroom and dressing room but no hook that makes sense. No main trashcan or small sink at front counter area. Weirdly noisy at night outside and empty in day (not hotel’s fault).

Gorgeous hotel! A short drive to the suburbs and a short walk to the Wadsworth Atheneum (worth a visit, by the way.) Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was spotless. It's big and well-appointed, thoughtfully furnished. I was very comfortable. Had all the amenities I expect from a nice hotel. Loved the giant shower and lighted vanity mirror. Console tables were perfect for key cards, handbags, the stuff you can't leave the room without.

One little note - I would prefer milk to creamer with my free coffee (available in the bar in the AM.) Although the coffee was good enough to drink black!

The room was beautiful and beyond my expectations! Large entry way and sizeable bathroom! The bed was super comfortable as well, perfect pillows were PERFECT. When I made a special request for a bathtub they were able to accommodate me!

Walls are a little on the thin side for my liking. Though I am not sure if it was noises coming from the vents or through the walls. If you are a light sleeper like I am and the hotel happens to be full, bring ear plugs! If you plan to take a bath in the tub it will take a bit to fill. The water pressure isn't the best, but that's to be expected in an older building.

Its good in the aspect that it’s close to the location we came for and it also provided a good proximity to local eats in the area.

The breakfast (provided) if you can call it that was basically non-existent. We looked in to see if coffee was available downstairs and what was there if anything for food and there was nothing except maybe some de-caf and idk if it was even fresh.

Room was very clean. AC DIDN’T work probably and they fixed it immediately. Valet was extremely friendly and helpful.

Mattress was very old. Lumpy and uncomfortable. Pillows were way too thick. Sheets 50/50 blend. Very scratchy! For the price, we were shocked they weren’t 100% cotton. We found the king room to be quite small. Not a lot of walking space. Smaller than the pictures they presented online. Restaurant and bar was NOT open on a Friday evening. Wished we booked the Marriott instead. Won’t be going back.

The room was beautiful, would highly recommend anyone going to the area stay at this hotel. The furniture is all beautiful, very well designed and luxurious feeling. The room was very spacious, I stayed in the king suite and It was exactly that! A very big beautiful corner room with lots of windows. Very nice big bathroom and living room with a kitchenette. The staff here were so kind and really took the time to help with anything they could as well as giving recommendations for things to do around town!

The one and only negative (if you can call it that) thing I can say is that the shower didn't have a door, just a half partition of glass that let water spray out onto the bathroom floor.

We loved the room, spacious and spotless, and the coffee was good too. Having a refrigerator was great. But the main thing we liked was Joy, who worked at the front desk. She even joined us for dinner. She is a real jewel and we loved having the opportunity to spend some time with her !

Leisure trip, parking was the biggest issue. They should reserve free parking in the garage across the street for their guests like the Delamar hotel in West Hartford does. The maid didn't make up the bed when we went out on the town during the day, but changed the towels and cleaned the bathroom.
