The breakfast was yummy both days. They had typical breakfast food but also a different hot item each day. There was a sausage egg biscuit one day and a breakfast burrito the next day. I was highly impressed with the food quality. The outdoor pool was heated. They use actual keys (no apps needed as most hotels are switching to now) and I felt like the building was very safe with people coming in and out of the restaurant.

The building is older and could use some improvements, such as floor dividers.

Spa tub in a room was very nice and big, also clean, not like in some other hotels. Very friendly staff, heated pool and nice location on a lake with a bar. They had breakfast, but I slept through it after relaxing in spa tub. Later than usual check-out was a nice bonus and you can prolong it even more for like $15 an hour.

Rooms may use some renovation and better cleaning. Lamp shades weren't dusted. And I wouldn't risk walking on that carpet barefooted. Idk why there's a carpet around spa tub to begin with, should be tile. Bedsheets and towels may be nicer/newer and bed with no headboard is a bit weird to me.

I loved the main floor walk out balcony to a gorgeous view of lake, easy access to bar, food, and pool. Beautiful. Staff was very pleasant. Met owner at bar. Seems like a great guy. The rooms my friend and I stayed in did not have the old ugly comforters on them so maybe new pix of white bedding. It was a great place tho to take a walk along water with lots of benches to sit along the way.

My shower wasn't easy to figure out how to get hot...maybe a little explanation somewhere could help to turn black knob too ;)

We went into Chicago for a concert and did not want to stay in the city. Found this place on our way, and it was fantastic! It is about an hours drive into Chicago from this hotel. It is very easy to get on and off the highway. The location was absolutely perfect. The room was clean, comfortable, and spacious with a balcony overlooking Pine Lake. The restaurant was perfect. We will definitely stay there again when going to Chicago for an event. I'm looking forward to staying there in the summer.

No elevator to the 2nd floor, but the stairs weren't too bad.

I like that the boardwalk was reasonable, and our room overlooked it with live music and the lake.

I told them we were bringing a boat. I didn’t like the fact that they were no boat slips available so we had to pull our boat out every time we were done using it and launch farther down the lake with a cost and inconvenient parking. They rent slips to the people on the lake, but they don’t save any spots in case a guest brings a boat.

If you’re interested in LaPorte, probably no better place to stay. On Pine Lake, restaurants attached close to all of the city. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Large rooms and bathrooms (we were above restaurant).

Only complaints- towels very thin and water very hard. Generally very nice and quiet.

From the moment we walked into the Blue Heron Inn it was a wonderful experience. The front desk staff was very accommodating when we realized our booking was for a king size bed and we wanted two queen beds. They switched our room with no problem. Our room was immaculately cleaned and smelled clean too! Beds and pillows were comfortable. Water pressure in the walk-in shower was great and the towels were very nice! The view of the lake from the patio couldn’t have been more gorgeous and the sunset was amazing! T-Bonz restaurant is attached to the Inn and walk right in from one to other. We enjoyed appetizers and cocktails on the patio outside where we could also view the lake. This place is definitely a hidden gem and if you have the opportunity to stay there you will not be disappointed.

There’s no elevator and no one to carry luggage upstairs for you. Next I stay there I will remember to bring a duffle bag instead of a suitcase on wheels.

While slightly dated, in a quaint way, the property is well maintained, the staff was very friendly & breakfast was great! I had a room with a private balcony overlooking the lake & it was really very nice! I didn’t have an opportunity to try the restaurant, I’m told it is quite good!

The breakfast was good and it had a good variety. Only thing I would add would be sugar free syrup. The location was perfect. We wanted to be close to the casino and we definitely were. Having the restaurant onsite was a huge plus!

Sugar free syrup would have been perfect and hot water in the room. There wasn’t anything else that we were unhappy with at all. Hopefully we can experience this place again in the summertime. The brochure shows a lot of different entertainment and I would love to see that.

The property could be amazing but it's so outdated. Stains on the carpets, calcium build up on the shower doors, horribly uncomfortable beds. Definitely could use an overhaul especially for almost 200 a night for a hot tub room. I could've paid less at a newer big chain company but wanted to stay locally owned.
