Loved the gallery king room and this hotel! The staff was wonderful and extremely helpful. We’ll be back for sure!

Well, at 3:30 am a flood of water above 711 came through our bathroom and we had to switch rooms in the middle of the night. The staff was very apologetic and helpful, even taking that night off our bill. But, it was unfortunate to lose that night of sleep. It was no ones fault and that staff took care of us. Additionally, for how amazing everything at this hotel is, the sheets are surprisingly not-soft and uncomfortable—very clean/pressed but rigid.

One of the nicest hotels I ever been! The staff were outstanding, very friendly, and a great atmosphere. Valet was super smooth. They let me check in 2 hours early the day of the lions playoff game, I wasn’t planning on being able to check in that early but they accommodated! Very old school fancy hotel. Only a 10 minute walk to Ford field and commercial park. In a very nice part of Detroit aswell! Many food places in walking distance. Would definitely Recommend staying there!

Little pricey but that was expected so I would say NOTHING~

The aesthetic, location and comfort. Staff were all very kind and welcoming. Room was spacious and clean. Bed was comfy.

Only 2 minimal critiques. 1) no one to open the door for you. It sounds so small and silly but we had 1 large suitcase, 2 carry on roller bags and two backpacks and it was a struggle just opening the double set of doors to get in. It would be nice to have an automatic door or something, but there was the option of calling the bellman. 2) kinda weird outlet placing. Everything was mostly on one side of the room so we were charging all devices on one side table and ironing on the same side of the room.Though there’s a ton of space in the room it made it feel somewhat cramped on one side. Very small critiques overall :)

This is a lovely hotel with very professional staff and surroundings. One of the best things is the location. Woodward Avenue is in the middle of so much and you can take the Q line trolley from the hotel to the Detroit Institute of Art and many other spots to visit. Also, we got in very late on a Thursday and the hotel has 24-hour room services. We were really hungry, and it was great to be able to order food to our room!

My ONLY complaint is that I wish that there was a coffee maker in the room. I was surprised that they did not have that, even though room service is available.

We liked the proximity to everything in the city. We attended a two day concert at Ford Field and a Red Wings hockey game, both only requiring a 10 minute walk. It was much better than find parking and dealing with traffic. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and the rooms were always clean. Every detail was well attended to.

The cost was high but the quality was exceptional.

The hotel is lovely and lived up to my expectations. The location was excellent for our purposes (vacation/long weekend) and we very much enjoyed our stay.

There were a few minor things I wasn't crazy about - drinks rings (not ours) on the nightstands, towels taken away never to be returned, and I'd say the hotel was fairly noisy. I heard a distinct base line emanating from somewhere IN the hotel both Friday and Saturday nights. And, it would be nice to have water in the hotel somewhere other than the bathroom tap. I realize the hotel is a for-profit entity, but at that price, one free bottle of water per room per night isn't too much to ask.

Beautiful hotel. Elegantly furnished with moody decor and stylish art pieces. There are many lounge areas and I even found a dog friendly patio for them to do their business. Important if you're traveling with your pet and don't want to have to take them all the way out of the hotel and into the streets with not many grassy areas around. My room had a nice liquor selection and a well stocked room fridge. Match boxes at the front desk were a nice touch.

The bathroom layout was interesting. It was difficult closing the door to the toilet room if you were already in there. There is no coffee maker in the room. No microwave either but that wasn't necessary, since it doesn't really go with the asthetic, but no coffee was a let down. Even a pour over method would have been nice. Missed opportunity, I think. I'd recommend a chemex in the rooms since, it wouldn't take away from the beautiful yet function charm of Shinola.

Talk about a vibe. Loved my stay here on 12/23. Stayed the night with my girlfriend and we absolutely loved it. The "living room" area that is essentially the lobby was super cool and relaxing. Very stylish. The room was perfect both in size and quietness. We will absolutely stay here again for another "staycation"

I mean... a little pricey. I think that is just how expensive all hotels are in downtown Detroit now. Sign of the times I suppose but I feel like for one night $200 would have been perfect.

We loved everything about the ambiance and comfort of our room and the facility. From the bath robes to the beds, it was an extremely pleasing stay! The accessibility to the Shinola store, and the surrounding area was really wonderful, too!

The valet service was a bit confusing - when we drove up, the gentlemen running the valet said that it was included in our stay, so we decided to use the valet features, but then during check in, the front desk associate informed us that it was not included and was a $35 charge. It was just a bit misleading/confusing, that I suggest that in the future, all support staff all be on the same page for consistent client messaging and communication.
