Very clean room with small but functional washer/dryer, comfy bed, and a kitchen with a sink and fridge. The Sonder itself is on a dead block with not many restaurants or attractions, but everything in downtown is easy walking distance. Probably a ten minute walk to Campus Martius and the Q-Line, fifteen/twenty minute walk from all the sport stadiums. Extremely easy to check in and check out, company provides a code a few days in advance. Nice to just use the code and not have to keep track of a key. Overall would recommend a stay if you are in downtown Detroit for an event, concert, or sports game.

You will need to make an account on the Sonder website and go through their check-in process. That includes uploading a photo ID and taking a selfie to verify identify. Took maybe ten minutes, so not a big deal, but would have been more convenient if everything was contained in the Booking.com app.

Both the property and the surrounding area of the city were beautiful; the photos and descriptions of the rooms did not do this place justice! I really enjoyed the feeling of comfort and privacy the room gave during our stay, and the staff I spoke with online were very helpful and friendly! Highly recommend to anyone visiting downtown Detroit.

I wish the property had better parking arrangements. There is no parking right by the property except for limited street parking and a lot behind the building where overnight parking was not allowed. It’s only a small complaint, and most of it is on me for not researching better before arriving. The parking we did end up finding was only a short walk away, between 5-10 minutes. But those minutes add up if you have to make multiple trips to your vehicle and there’s no available parking or unloading area.

Easy check in, although I requested a 2pm check in instead of 4pm and was charged $25 for that, which I was not impressed with. Room was big and comfortable bed. Views were nice and loved how many places were withinh walking distance. Overall we really enjoyed our stay!

Parking is biggest issue as other people have mentioned. Plan on spending at least $50 for parking if you spend a couple nights.

Perfect location in Detroit! Able to walk everywhere. Used the recommended covered parking 1 block away and got a good discount. Apartment was comfortable, heaps of room, better than the pictures. Comfortable bed. Great sized bathroom and excellent shower. Everything was supplied to make our three days in Detroit perfect. The washer /dryer was the icing on the cake.

There was no window in the bedroom, which made the room quite dark. The property seems to be abit of a party place…Friday and Sat nights were super loud in the corridors all hours of the night and early morning. Booked through Booking.com 1 month out from our vacation. Was bombed everyday online by Sonder spam. Very annoying. I use Booking.com for ease of booking and Sonder need to respect that when bookings are made for their properties through another platform.

As the realtors say: location, location, location! This is an amazing place to stay if you’re comfortable with the array of things going on in downtown Detroit — and the folx in it. (One block from the bus terminal makes it interesting, but not too challenging most of the time.) High-ceiling modern loft living, reserved one day at a time. What’s not to love? Don’t expect a bellhop or hotel amenities. Security is on-site and attentive to what’s going on. So no parties, inside or out.

1) don’t bring your car. Just don’t. Parking is bad enough already downtown, and you’ll either pay too much for a lot without in-and-out privileges, or you’ll get a ticket from the city if you do. Take it from a native Detroiter. Don’t bring a car here. 2) something I don’t mind but my partner hates: the nighttime street noise. Michigan avenue is loud, and the dudes with loud cars don’t go home ‘til ~3am on the weekends. Plan accordingly.

Great location downtown and a short 5-minute walk to the river/convention center. Nice and clean with good decor and well-equipped rooms and kitchen. I'd stay there again.

The air vent (not the aircon, that I could control) was a bit noisy for me at night (I have a preference to open a window). I resorted to a bit of self-engineering to 'sort' it and the kitchen was well equipped with things for that). We had a couple of rooms, in both we had kitchens with knife blocks - one had a full complement of sharp knives for cooking, in the other, we didn't have any (just a pair of scissors in it)... so a bit of redistribution necessary. Parking was abundant around the place, but not that cheap. I negotiated a Tuesday afternoon to Friday morning with the one across the street for $100 - that seemed a bit high given the large amount of spaces that were always available.

Marvelous! A beautiful, large, and light-filled room, artfully decorated, with top end appliances (washer, dryer, dishwasher included). Every convenience and detail to simplify a nomad existence was there--clean and well ordered. There was a good response to a problem with the washing machine, and I particularly appreciated the manager extending my checkout time gratis to get my laundry done. The location was good if you plan on using public transport (for whatever that is worth) :). It is in the center of downtown and perfect for a walkabout of all Detroit's Art Deco buildings.

The password and doorlock process took a little getting used to. There really should be a 24 hour desk clerk who can guide through some of the administrative issues rather than having to communicate with a bot or read through a lot of detail on my phone.

An EXCEPTIONAL stay. Immaculately clean and kept, perfectly stocked, modern studio apartment in an ideal location in downtown Detroit. Just a couple of blocks off the hustle and bustle (ideal for quiet) but nestled among numerous big name (and far more expensive) big name hotels. Within easy walking distance to most of what anyone visiting the city is there to do, from pro baseball at Comerica park, to headliner entertainment at the legendary Fox Theatre, to endless dining and drinking options in a forest of some of the most beautiful deco and mid-century architecture in the U.S. And just blocks from a spectacular Great Lakes waterfront facing Canada. We'll definitely be back.

Downtown Detroit still closes early when it comes to anything not involving nightlife, so a little tricky to find regular (not overpriced) convenience store staples (real coffee cream, bread for morning toast, etc) nearby in anything but shady/overpriced/primarily liquor store "markets", but that's easily solved with a little pre-planning. Otherwise, ZERO complaints! And how often do you get to say that these days? :-)

Loft living in downtown Detroit. This isn't so much like a hotel as a condo operation with security. But if this is where you want to be, you probably know how to make your way through the city streets. Also of note: if you don't like the sounds of the city (including the loud ones on weekend nights), bring ear protection. Downtown at night can be loud until 2:30am or so.

Security isn't fully 24/7 at front desk, because they also do in-building checks. That's likely how they keep costs down: there's just one person to care for the building at any given moment — but we saw some people having trouble checking in, without access to resources, because of that.

Location was perfect , most venues easily walkable even with a walker or cane. Easy check in and out with access code, no long lines waiting to check in. Spacious apartment. We had 4 of us 2 slept in bedroom the other two we brought a king blow up bed. They had vending machines in main entrance. Apartment had full kitchen that was real nice.

One elevator was broke, a maid said they have the parts ordered. And the coffee pot in the room didn’t work right had water and coffee grounds overflow big mess we cleaned up and let the maid know, she said it was not the first time she heard that so she was going to contact some one about getting a new one for the room.
