The location of the hotel was excellent as were the front desk staff. The rooms were average in size, clean, the bedding nice and comfortable. Our room was on the interior of the building, which was fantastic as we did not hear the noise from the street.
The breakfast was below par-- in the city of New York, one expects better bagels at least! And the bar was closed for the week of which we were not informed until 2 days into our stay. The amenities are not exceptional.... slightly above average. It is a very nice hotel, but I expected a bit more... it is more like a 3 1/2- 3/3/4 star hotel than a 4 star.

this was our 10th trip to NYC, we have stayed in the Times Square area or Williamsburg and we wanted to be further down Manhattan for another outlook. We were in for a treat at the Evelyn, the location was perfect! Less touristy than Times Square so the options we were real New Yorkers go, the hotel itself is Art Deco style and dates from around that time. We had a room on the 11th floor and had partial view of 27th and 5th. The area around the hotel is really nice, we often walked into Maddison Square park and people watched. We had a shake shack one night under the festoon lights, which was pretty epic. The room was nicely decorated, clean and had a bay window, the bed was comfy and the bathroom was nice. Really happy with our time at the Evelyn and would return for definite
you could hear people in the corridors very easily so a little more sound proofing would be of benefit, other than that nothing to grumble about

The location is ideal for New York. Everything is close. Madison Square Park is just on the parallel of the Hotel. Breakfast to go is fine and especially concerning New York is great plus. The buidling of the hotel is historical and if you want an hotel with more charme than average hotel that is the place you would appreciate. The NoMad neighbourhood is a great place for bars restaurants and shopping.
There are no particular things we did not like. It is a very good hotel in an historical building and area that is close to everything. Kudos

We really liked this location. It was close to a nice park and subway stops. We walked back from Times Square a few times, definately a hike but doable. Take advantage of the free walking tour - it was really great. I wish we would have done the others offered by the sister hotels! I was happy with the breakfast sandwich which was one of the options included using your breakfast voucher. The bed was super comfortable and the staff was friendly. Each day as we were walking out, we stopped at the front desk and asked for a couple bottles of water, which they provided at no cost. Nice touch! Also a bonus to have the workshop bakery immediately to the left when you walk out of the hotel.
There really is nothing I didn't like. It's impossible to have 2 suitcases open and be able to walk around but that is just how the room size is in New York so I can't really count that! The staff at the breakfast facility can be rude, however this cafe is not owned by the hotel so the hotel is unable to control this. Just go in, order your free breakfast without expecting a smile and tip!

* Great spot in midtown that’s not far from all the main iconic locations - everything is walkable if you want to do that. We even walked a few blocks to Penn station with our luggage to get the train to Newark - it was really easy. * Well appointed bedrooms (we had a king size deluxe room) with everything needed for our stay. We had a kettle delivered to our room, which was great * Wonderful origami and added art deco fixtures, fittings and decoration. it really adds to the look and feel. * Great unexpected additions such as the free walking tours, wine hour night (although we didn’t use it) and the welcoming morning grab and go breakfast. I highly recommend the sausage and egg roll as it had a touch of spice. very tasty. * Lovely friendly staff, everyone was very helpful and accommodating. Leonela is a brilliant hotel manager and is an asset to the Triumph Group.
* The bar closed at 10pm which we thought was early, and it would have been great to get back after a long day and have a couple of drinks before bedtime.

A beautiful Art Deco setting with lovely antique furniture. Both the bedrooms and public rooms were well-decorated. The location was fantastic and well-connected. The grab-and-go style breakfast was nice and had good variety, and the bar was reasonably priced.
The walls are very thin and we were woken early every morning by the sound of the shower in the next room. The room (deluxe queen) was on the small size, with very limited closet space. There was no bathtub (but the shower was very nice).

Really well located to walk to lots of the main sights (Flat Iron, High Line, Central Station, etc) and walking distance to the subway too. Rooms were really nicely decorated, with a good size bathroom and a wardrobe. Staff were really friendly. Free breakfast was actually pretty good and really useful when you're up early with jetlag.
Only downsides were the size of the room is small if you have quite a bit of luggage (like us!), which is to be expected in Manhattan. Our room felt a bit dark too, as our view was onto the wall of the opposite building. The downstairs bar was often closed, which was a shame.

The location is absolutely second to none just off 5th avenue and the decor of the hotel is lovely modern take on deco.
Doors on rooms need door closers. People banging their doors shut coming home or leaving wakes you up. There needs to be more sound proofing too. No storage for underwear or folded items and wardrobe is very small. Should do away with the desk or have one that has drawers to use. Staff in the breakfast place are thoroughly miserable. Reception team are friendly as are bar staff.

The location was perfect and I loved the decor. The room was super cute, loved the bathroom especially the shower. The breakfast was delicious too!
There was a blood stain on the duvet of the bed. I had not noticed it the day we arrived because it was on the other side of where I was sleeping, but my partner said he saw it since we got there but didn’t want to freak me out (I’m quite a germaphobe). I saw it the second day but we went out. Upon returning, the room had been cleaned but the blood stain wasn’t there. I got really happy but then the day we were leaving I noticed the duvet had just been flipped over so that it was hidden and it ended up being on my side. The blood looked old and dry so it had likely been washed but a little stain remover could probably get rid of it. I would expect that would have been done for the price of the hotel. Overall, I liked everything but this small detail made me feel uncomfortable.

Great location, clean and staff on the whole was very friendly.
We arrived late in the evening with no issue. The room we checked into was clean and comfortable. The next morning, we realized the shower was broken. It did not come out of the main rain head, just the hand held. When the water was on, it came out brown. We spoke to the front desk and was told brown water was the norm, we have visited and traveled to NYC numerous times and never found that the norm. Asked to be moved and for an upgrade, which we got for a small upgrade fee, and the water was clear and shower worked.
