It has everything you would want. The staff is super helpful. The accommodations are beautiful and you have several options from rustic cabins to elegant Home suites, be awesome Lodge rooms and game room.The lake, gardens, pool , fire pit, swings, hammocks and trails couldn’t be better. WE LOVE HIGHLAND LAKE RESORT AND SEASONS RESTAURANT. The food is incredible too.

The location was peaceful and beautiful. The room was comfortable and had everything we needed. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our dinner at the restaurant was excellent.

The breakfast buffet was a nice setup with good variety but the sausage patty and pancakes were very tough. Everything else was good.

We enjoyed staying at the Woodward house and we enjoyed walking around the grounds.

We didn’t like the fact the restaurant in the resort was closed two nights of the three nights of our stay. That was very disappointing.

Everything was just awesome. There had been a little concern with the original room that I booked. My husband and I cannot do steps, due to his stroke and my arthritic bad knees. So without any fuss, they changed our room and made us feel very comfortable with our new lodging. The breakfasts were out of sight. Extremely delicious. Only disappointment was the restaurant, during our stay, was not open for lunch or dinner. Very beautiful location.

Nice place, nice people, good area. good food. Very comfortable and enjoyable all around. Thought I might return with my extended family for a weeks vacation ....... but will take a pass because of the billing issue described below.

We were billed twice. They claimed it was a booking.com issue but the billing came from Highland Lake. Highland even called the night we stayed there saying they knew there was a double booking issue. BUT they went ahead and billed us anyhow, including a billing for the more expensive room that we were told wasn't available. Instead of doing the right thing and fixing it they left it up to us to deal with booking.com and the bank to deny the charge. As nice as the place/people were it left a really bad impression.

Excellent breakfast with many choices was included. Fine restaurant (but somewhat pricey). Charming and well-equipped rooms. Highland lake park offers a quiet, natural environment, as does the surrounding Flat Rock area as a whole.

Free canoeing, kayaking, and other activities are a great way to relax outdoors after a long drive. The dinner at the associated restaurant was outstanding. Even my picky 18-year-old cleaned her plate. The food was elegant but the atmosphere was quite casual, which was great. I would describe the cabin we stayed in as "shabby genteel." For us (mother and daughter), it was perfect; for people who might expect a thoroughly upscale treatment, the bathroom was dated. But the beds were extremely comfortable, the cabin was spotless and totally fresh smelling (no pet or sanitizing odors), and the room (queen plus single) was large. We slept with open windows and really enjoyed the cool mountain air, peacefulness, and total quiet. Before bed we hung out on the porch and swings and enjoyed the views across the lawn.

The buffet-style breakfast was abundant and good, but it would have been nice to have some freshly prepared egg options (such as easy over or poached). The coffee was just conventional; a latte option would have been nice. The OJ tasted like it was from concentrate. That said, most travelers give the breakfast top reviews, so I'm obviously just being picky. The dinner last night was so outstanding that I was expecting more from the breakfast.

Buffet breakfast was exceptional. Staff was nice and helpful. Bathrooms very clean, Loved the old Lodge. Quaint rustic getaway.

Parking behind Lodge was unusual. No spaces marked, but I think it's the old fashioned way and they seem limited on room for parking. Overall no big deal

Everyone that worked there was very friendly and helpful. My friend and I enjoyed our stay immensely and if we are ever back in the area we would love to stay there again.

My only suggestion would be that they include tea when breakfast is included as part of the cost. Right now you need to pay extra for tea if you prefer that instead of coffee. Overall an amazing stay though. I definitely recommend!
