From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a friendly face and smile. We were treated like family. They went above and beyond for us. They helped us with everything we needed; more than I feel any other hotel would have. Lisa, the gentleman and his wife were amazing. From places to go and things to see, they had answers. The location couldn't have been more perfect for us. We walked everywhere we went. Jet express is right across the street and there are a bunch of cute bars. They block the street off in front of the hotel in the summer months. They have bands, corn hole set up, tons of picnic tables, and they offer MORA. I would recommend this place to anyone who is visiting this area. We honestly didn't even need to leave the area to enjoy ourselves.

We loved it all!!

We liked the location and the history of the hotel. What we liked most was the staff. They were kind and went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. We had to change our reservation and they could have said sorry you have a nonrefundable booking, but they gladly shifted our reservation to different days. Lisa the manager and Raquel at the front desk went out of their way to tell us about great places to see and eat at in the area. It is a very personable property.

cleanliness is the most important factor to me in staying at a hotel, and this hotel was impeccable! I was here with my child and we were welcomed and the receptionist was extremely friendly, the hotel is at a great location with all sorts of restaurants within walking distance, the hotel itself is very charming but also nice and quiet. it’s not overly fancy, but the room was perfectly spacious for the two of us, Wi-Fi service was great with no problems there, the bed was very comfortable. we booked this hotel as we were doing a road trip and it was the halfway point, but we enjoyed our stay so much that we are going to come back and stay again this time for a couple of nights so we can do some of the activities that Port Clinton has nearby.

If you are looking for a modern up to date hotel this is not for you. The hotel was built in 1886 and still holds the antique historic feel. The hotel was located in the perfect location in downtown Port Clinton. Everything we needed was within walking distance including the ferry port to Put in Bay. Every staff member we encountered were very friendly. The room itself was small but we did not need anything special during our stay. Although the room was historic in nature it was clean with clean linens and towels. The air conditioning unit was on the wall located at the foot of the bed and was a little loud for the small room. The only other drawback was the doors were not heavy and you could hear every noise from the hallway. Overall I was pleased with the hotel and plan on staying again.

We liked the historic value of the hotel. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We also liked the location. There were several restaurants and shops within walking distance. Many tourists attractions were within walking or driving distance.

There was no breakfast provided but the staff did highly recommend a really nice local restaurant within walking distance. We were unable to park in the designated parking area due to a local event happening. We had to find parking elsewhere due to no parking sports close to the hotel.

I liked that we were within walking distance of the Jet Express, a coffee shop, an ice cream shop and a candy shop. Unfortunately our door wouldn't lock and we had to worry about our belongings while we were gone and prop a chair against the door at night. The maintenance man worked on the lock all day Friday but was unable to fix it. Lisa, the manager, was very apologetic and said she would take half off of our bill for the inconvenience, which she did. She was very friendly and concerned. I would stay there again.

I didn't like the absence of breakfast, but due to Covid, I guess this was more or less out of their control. Didn't like that we didn't really have any privacy in our room all day Friday, couldn't take the nap I needed.

The staff was excellent both, checkin and checkout. Very friendly cordial and polite. That in itself is top notch and you feel very welcome as a result. The hotel itself is quite old, built in the 1800’s and the rooms are smaller due to the age of modern plumbing, they couldn’t tear into the masonry building and increase the room size. Thus, the rooms can be a bit cramped when you have a large modern bed along with an ample sized modern bathroom as well. Not only that, the floors have dips, humps, bumps throughout. You have to keep in mind the building has settled in its lifespan. The elevator is a great asset vs trudging up and down stairways to get around: thumbs up there. The seagulls and birds are noisy but in the evening, they’re pretty much subdued. This is Port Clinton though in the whole realm. Altogether, I liked the place and it’s antique character. Will be back again this summer when PC is churning at full helm

The seagulls and birds are quite chattery but it’s hard to block them out due to the window HAVAC unit. No food/breakfast: was canceled due to Covid. However, there are plenty of nearby, well-rated restaurants to go to, so it’s not a total disappointment and you can sample unique dishes as a plus

Although a vintage hotel the Island House guest room I stayed in was up to date. The hotel's location was convenient to several excellent restaurants as well as the Jet-Boat-Express for day tripping to Put-In-Bay.

My guestroom, while well appointed was very small. Given the age of the hotel and the location of my room, located on the upper most floor and at the back of the building. I suspect that it would have originally been live in staff quarters. One final recommendation to the owners of the Island House Hotel would be that a grand hotel of this vintage deserves a more impressive front entrance door to match.

I wanted a place to stay away from the interstate and the constant din of passing traffic. Port Clinton is a nice, quiet town on the Lake Erie shore. This is an older building (the ceiling is at least 10 feet high) which is well maintained. Newly refurbished bathroom with abundant lighting was very nice. The room was clean. Bed was *very*comfy. WiFi was fine. I liked the larger than average refrigerator which included a freezer which actually froze my cooler elements. The reception staff is very pleasant and helpful. The lack of breakfast was not an issue, because a short, 3 block stroll gets you to the Ala Carte Cafe, a classic American diner with tasty meals at reasonable prices.

The room was rather small. There was no chair, nor a table at which to sit with my laptop. I wish the windows had screens so I could get fresh air without mosquitos, although the A/C was effective without being too noisy. I had to turn off the noisy ceiling fan.

cleanilness, comfort, quiet

Breakfast was not available even though it had been advertized on Booking.com- upon registration when I asked about breakfast hours I was told no breakfast: "due to covid" I reserved a King size thinking my husband might be able to join me. The room was extremely small, no chair, no table, just very small walkways and medium size (one room) bathroom. We would have been crawling over each other. Ice machine was down on 1st floor - my room was on the second floor.
