Comfort Inn Columbia Gorge

The hotel is about 100 yards southwest of The Dalles Bridge, so it's super convenient if you're arriving from Washington. The room was good sized with a very comfy King bed. The sink is separate from the toilet and shower, which I like. Everything was very clean. Housekeeping actually came by the room to see if we wanted it refreshed (So uncommon these days!), and they vacuumed the hallway twice during the day. The breakfast was hot with eggs, a meat, and a carb, plus waffles, cereal, yogurt and plenty of coffee and juices. The hotel also provides a coin operated guest laundry, which is very helpful for campers like me.

Check-in was little chaotic with one of the two front-desk staffers in training. I saw parking only on the river-side of the building, so there was no parking near my street-side room where I could keep an eye on the car, and no shaded parking at all.

I enjoyed a very comfortable and functional room during my three night stay: well appointed with TV, internet, fridge and microwave; very comfortable bed; quiet climate control system. The room was very well lit making it easy to work and read. The room was remarkably quiet given the hotel's close proximity to the Interstate. Breakfast was available starting at 6:00 am making it possible to get an early start on my local travels.

It would have been nice to have a dark roast coffee available in addition to the regular brew, at least during the breakfast hours.

Liked the breakfast options and the vending machine. Clean room. Lot of leaflets on Oregon next to stairway which are informative. I still have them and plan to visit those places since i moved to Oregon. This was our first stop to Oregon after crossing state lines.

The phone was next to the commode in Bathroom which was funny. There is no elevator. The person in charge of breakfast was staring when we were taking food items. It made us uncomfortable . I didn't take muffins because of the intense starring. Took less foods because i wasnt sure why he was so interested to know how much we took. However, since there was no major issues, i rated it 9.

The person working the desk didn't acknowledge us when we came in. I finally asked him if I could use restroom (been a long journey). When I returned, my daughter and I stood there for a very lengthy time, while he was on the phone- Yes, we could tell he was resolving situation with corporate for a customer (who was not present) but MOST of his call was schmoozing with girl on other end. Asking personal questions and just "shooting the breeze". What really bothered my daughter and I was that he - NOT EVEN ONCE- acknowledged us standing 3ft. away at counter... not even an "I'm sorry, I'll be with you in a moment".... NOTHING!!!!! Very rude customer service!

The location is excellent for exploring the Columbia River Gorge or The Dalles. It looks like a brand new hotel and is in excellent condition with every amenity we could ask for. The staff was friendly and courteous and helpful The breakfast buffet was good with actual real oatmeal with all the condiments. They said that they normally serve some kind of heated food, such as scrambled eggs. There were apples, oranges, and bananas too. And hard boiled eggs.

As one who does not eat sugar or grains, I was sorry to see the array of sugared cereals and sugary condiments for the oatmeal as well as waffles, bagels and muffins, and yogurt again loaded with sugar. That said there were other choices for healthy eaters.

Comfort Inn is a chain hotel. It was very clean and comfortable. It is great for a one or two night stay. The staff was excellent. The breakfast was standard for a chain hotel but the breakfast room was very well maintained and managed. The location was near a main highway which made it easy to fine and to exit. It offered good value and a comfortable stay.

The building is an older one that is well maintained. For an overnight stay while in transit it did the job well.

It was a perfect location. We were going to Maryhill Museum and it was not far. The indoor swimming pool was a plus with two teenagers. The staff was amazing. We requested extra laundry bags and towels and they were there within a couple minutes.

Nothing was wrong.

Staff was welcoming and friendly. The breakfast was exceptional:more choices than most places. The hot food was fresh and delicious. The room was bright and comfortable. The kitchen lady Celese (I think)was quick and efficient, cheerful, happy to help with special needs.

Excellent selection of hot foods for breakfast along with cereals, yogurt, waffles, juices, muffins and coffee. The bacon was cooked to perfection too. Also the pool was open. Website read that pool was closed. Bed was cozy, 4 pillow types, and really warm room. Cookies at check-in and hard candies too for a treat.

Staff were very friendly and efficient. There was nothing I didn't like. All was excellent.

Exceptionally quiet despite being right next to the freeway. Very friendly and accommodating staff.

No elevator. It didn't affect us this time but is an important issue for us so we'd only be able to stay here again if we can secure a ground floor room.
