This is a large old ski lodge, basically. Our room was so spacious! On our 11 day road trip this room was by far the most comfortable to stay in. Two queen beds with the most amazing bedding ( I want to buy the same bedding I loved it so much), a pull out sofa bed, side chair, desk and the biggest bedside table I’ve ever seen. The bathroom is separate with long large vanity sink on one side and toilet and tub behind closed door. Could have fit a party in the huge tub. Hot water with good pressure in shower and a working exhaust fan in toilet/tub room. The room itself was humongous, comfortable and clean. I was so impressed.
Nothing we didn’t like

The hotel was very clean and neat. The Staff was courteous and fairly knowledgeable about local restaurants. The breakfast was ready early and was quite good. The hotel offers a shuttle service on the weekends and that was fantastic! Overall, we had a great stay and enjoyed the facilities. I also appreciated the fact the hotel staff let us park our motorcycles near the door on the flatter part of the parking lot. The upper parking lot is paved but it's quite steep and a bit challenging to park a motorcycle on.
My booking.com reservation wasn't in the system upon arrival. I had booked two rooms with two queen beds for four adult men. When we arrived, they only had 1 room with 2 beds under my name. They were able to accommodate us but it was quite an inconvenience and took well over 30 minutes to resolve. Kudos to the staff for working it out but it never should have gotten to that point imho.

This place is a quiet hotel to retreat from busyness of Deadwood. There was no noise through the floors at all, (concrete construction?) and very little though the doors. They are serious about quiet-hours. The beds were comfortable, and the location excellent for both the hikes around Spearfish, and the wild-west extravaganza which is Deadwood, 3 miles or a shuttle away.
Tub faucet dripped a bit, sink drained too slowly. I visited at the beginning of the busy season, so it is possible they will be more on top of maintenance issues like this soon.

The price, location and cleanliness of the room were all above-average. The staff I encountered were friendly.
I was in a handicapped-accessible room. I did not request, nor need, such a room. Pets were allowed which meant I had to listen to a large dog barking in a room close to mine on the occasions that I was in my room while its owners were out. Housekeeping failed to touch my room one day and failed to restock that day and two others.

The details. Many hotels provide bare minimum for toiletries, the lotion and the makeup wipes were greatly appreciated. My daughter enjoyed the breakfast in the morning. The location was great and getting where we needed to go was easy.
I wish they had indoor hot tubs in addition to the outdoor ones. Only 3 regular sized hot tubs and a full booking of the hotel left us with the inability to partake as they always seemed to be busy when we had the time. This was a relatively small complaint as we were busy with other things in the area as well.

They have very nice outdoor hot tubs that are open until midnight. They have a free shuttle that the hotel provides to take you into deadwood or Lead! Very nice for the price. All of the staff was super friendly and funny! They have a small restaurant/ bar in the hotel which was nice! The pictures of the outside of the hotel and the lobby didn’t do justice. It’s nicer in person. Also didn’t charge us extra for a roll away. Sink is outside of the bathroom so 2 ppl can get ready at once. Also a car wash right next to the hotel so we were able to wash our sxs before we loaded them back into the trailer.
The rooms are a little small, worked out for us as we were hardly planning on being in the room. Also they offer house keeping/ cleaning services every single day, which is nice, except for they came by at 7:30 and 8:00 everyday. Which woke us up, and then we were still in the room so we couldn’t get it cleaned. I’m sure if we asked the front desk they would have been able to schedule a later cleaning though.

Location was great and staff was very friendly. Hotel had an elevator and we had a lot of luggage. Staff helped us order in food and let us eat in the bar area even though they sell food on site. Rooms were big and acceptably clean and priced below others in the area. We were able to do laundry on site. They have a driver on staff to bring you and pick you up to and from places in the area. What a great amenity. They had three hot tubs even though we didn't use them it was cool to know we could have.
There was a man with no shirt and no shoes walking the hall. This happens but should not be allowed. The tub was tall and hard to get in and out of. It was a noticeably older facility but fairly well maintained. It could use some updates.

I was nicely surprised and expected much less for the cost. Beautiful lobby and room designs. Rooms were clean, comfortable, updated and pleasant. I am assuming that there has been some remodeling or redecorating since the original build and I highly appreciated their attention to detail. Nicely done. I have stayed in some real flea-bag hotels for twice the price. Breakfast was plentiful and I loved the coffee. All you need is a daily shuttle into Deadwood and we would stay again.
A daily shuttle service into Deadwood would be great for vacationers!

This is my 2nd time staying at Blackstone. My college friends and I get together and go to the Days of 76 in Deadwood. The rooms are so clean as the rest of the hotel. The breakfast buffet is good. The bar is nice to have with munchies available as well. The hot tubs are the best hot tubs I've ever had at a hotel the jets are so powerful, making it so relaxing. The bed is so comfortable as well! It was so wonderful to have the shuttle service. Our driver was so nice and had a funny dry sense of humor. We made sure to tip him to and from our destination. The hotel is more modern and up to date. It was nice to have iron and ironing board, and fridge as well, free wifi. We came back late in the evening just so we could relax in the hotel at night after a long day in Deadwood. I would love to bring my family there to stay in the future, they make the stay so comfortable and relaxing!

The breakfast was great. Lots of choices and I really appreciate that the hours for breakfast were from 6-10 instead of 6-9 like most places. We enjoyed the hot tub under the stars. There were 3 of them and we always got one to ourselves. Our room on the third floor was nice and quiet, and the beds were comfortable. The staff there were very friendly and helpful. Thank you!
I really can't think of anything negative. I was surprised that there wasn't a Bible placed by the Gideons in our room.
