Holiday Inn Express San Antonio North Riverwalk Area, an IHG Hotel

I liked the location - they had music playing in the evening near the park, there's also a large park down the road where kids can play, there's a Domino's next door and monitored parking nearby. You do have to pay for the parking but it's down around the corner - short walk. The room was very clean and comfortable stay for my husband, myself and our 4 year old daughter.

It was confusing when we first pulled in - where to park? The front desk agent explained it all and it was quick check in process and finding the parking area was easy to navigate with the directions given.

The hotel is in the buildin g that served as the city jail for about 80 years (our room on the 4th floor actually had bars on the outside windows). I was out in front when two nighttime city walking tours went by. One of the people on the tour told me that the guide had said the building was haunted. The location is only about four blocks from the "Riverwalk" area which has many bars, restaurants and hotels as well as pontoon boat tours of the river.

There is a parking lot right next to the hotel but they charge over $23 per night for using the valet service.

Breakfast was great, the area was very convenient! The parking and valet was HORRIBLE!

I valet my car & walked to get dinner a block away, came back 4 hours later & my car was still in the front, UNLOCKED(I checked)I had just went shopping earlier & my things were in the trunk. I was so upset. Of course they apologized and they lady said it wasn’t her it was someone else but still. My things could’ve easily been taken. If I’m paying that much money for valet at least pay attention to my vehicle!

Unable to see my car ? Did not realize my car would be parked somewhere else u. covered . My daughter found an empty wine bottle under the mattress . she was looking for her air pods and lifted mattress . Quite weird and strange . The AC had a funny noise for a good 30 min and the. thank goodness it quit . Bathroom clean . Bed comfy until finding the empty wine bottle under bed .

The staff is super nice. I arrived before my check in time and they gave me a room very quickly. The location is amazing, you can walk to the river an all of the cool restaurants. Wifi works very well. Breakfast was simple but good. You have a fridge, coffee maker and microwave in your room. Bed and pillows were super comfy. Sheets were very clean and soft.

Hot water takes time to run, you need to wait a few minutes to get hot water in the shower. There wasn’t shampoo in the shower. The hotel is a little cold, if you are not used to the sound of the heater it can be annoying. There was a construction in front of the hotel so the street didn’t look nice.

What makes this place stand out is the staff - I had a minor accident - self-inflicted - while staying here and the hotel made sure that I got to my room as checked in on me regularly to make sure I was ok. When it came time for me to leave, they kindly looked after my bags until later in the day so I had some extra time to check out the city.

The hotel room was completely remodeled with brand new fixtures in the bathroom and it was very very clean. It was truly a very comfortable hotel and the bed was absolutely huge. A California king size bed!

I didn't like how the elevator was clear the other end of the hallway which made the walking distance much longer.

We went to this property specifically because it's a haunted site. The room was amazing and so was the breakfast. While we did not have the experience we were hoping for, we will be back to try again!

There was nothing that could have been better! The staff was excellent! Ok, maybe the parking situation. I did pay to have my car parked, and it was, but at checkout, I had to go and get the car myself.

Area construction and road closures prevented us from easily accessing the property but that’s out of your control. I didn’t feel good about my vehicle being parked off site. Our room needed more detail cleaning- 1. Previous visitors valet tag was on art frame. 2. A fluffy raccoon tail was in corner of room (maybe from a hat??) 3. Bathtub could’ve been scrubbed cleaner.

I did not like the construction, however, you could not hear it inside of your room. The staff was always courteous and helpful. The location was not too far from the River Walk except at night when there is less walking traffic.

Covid restrictions for housekeeping prevented them from cleaning the room daily and replenishing towels. We just picked up clean sets from the front.
