Hotel Havana

location is perfect, room was clean and a good size - love the original character of the facilities. staff was friendly and online check in was convenient.

very few outlets in the room, and the only outlet in the bathroom didn’t work. also we received a call from the front desk a few minutes after check out time that created a negative experience. specifically, we were still in the room because my husband was celebrating his birthday and had taken a quick call (we were totally packed up and ready to head out the moment he hung up). the staff member nicely told us that we would be charged if we remained in the room another 10 minutes since we hadn’t paid for late check out - in 39 years of staying in hotels, this was the first time I’d received such a call. though the staff member was pleasant, it was a negative experience.

The staff, from check in to the Ocho to check out were incredibly friendly and helpful. Five stars for making us so welcome. Unfortunately, the previous guests had smoked in one of our rooms, and there was no way to open any windows to air it out. The staff brought in a fan to try to clear the air, but the fact that all the windows are permanently sealed shut seems both unhealthy and a fire hazard. We loved the decor and room, but both rooms were on the main floor, just outside reception, so noisy from both guests in the lobby and guests at Ocho, which was right. outside our windows, and also quite dark. Not much to do about these issues, but surprised that Queen suites were placed on this floor. The gift shop had great selection of local crafts - loved it. I would definitely return, but would make sure that my room was on a higher floor.

Rooms were dark, noisy and one room was smoke-filled on arrival and the scent remained during the stay. Windows in rooms should be able to be opened to let in fresh air and light.

This property is absolutely stunning and unique. The rooms are so beautiful, and our stay would have been perfect if it wasn’t for the incredibly rude staff working at the restaurant. I will never understand how you can have such an amazing place and then fail to hire the right staff.

Loved that it was a historic property and so close to the tourist areas without being in the noisy areas. It was very conveniently located close to the most popular areas. The room features looked old but were VERY comfortable. LOVED the pink fridge!

Because the hotel was older, some of the features were tattered. Elevators were a little dirty. Nothing to the point of distraction. The hold on the room for incidentals was the highest I had seen. There was actually too much in the fridge (didn't leave any space for your personal left overs).

The building was unique and beautiful. The staff all treated us like friends. Ocho was gorgeous and relaxing. Jackie was a wonderful host there. The food was fantastic as well. The bar has an awesome vibe. Adrien was very friendly and knowledgeable in his craft. I told him my preferred liquors and let him surprise me. Every drink was a winner. The bartender Sunday night was very nice as well, but I didn’t catch her name. We were only there for a couple nights, but we loved the hotel so much that we hardly left to go out! We even bought some of the Sandalwood incense and have been burning it at home to remind us of being there… Overall, such a beautiful place to visit the river walk without being surrounded by drunken tourists and chain restaurants. One of our favorite places we’ve ever stayed. We can’t wait to come back.

The Grand Suite is more than GRAND. Set up like a house with charming rooms. Darling retro SMEG refrigerator with many options for drinks or storing your water. The wrought iron bed is amazing with a chandelier in the center of the room. Beautiful hard wood floors, old-world style lights, amazing windows with shutters and a double entry shower with two separate sinks. Even in 97 degree weather the air conditioning was so cold we needed to turn it off regularly. Ocho for dinner was excellent and romantic. We loved the serape robes and of course had to get one for home! Definitely going to stay at other Bunkhouse properties for the uniqueness & robes as well.

Coffee makers in rooms preferred.

It was an amazing stay. The staff were unbelievably welcoming. I felt like I was coming home from a long trip. They were so helpful and accommodating. The Hotel itself is like a dream. I felt like I was stepping back in time. I loved the windows above the bed. I loved the red meeting room downstairs. I loved smoking cigars on the third floor balcony. Kind of gave me that Ermest Hemingway vibe. Hotel Havana is mas chingon.

That I didn't stay longer. There was nothing I didn't like. Everything was beautiful.

the elevator was out of order! I was on the third floor too. Not the end of the world but annoying.

The old world charm in the hotel and the room; friendly staff; big windows and location downtown and on the river walk. Coffee at the front desk (with cream!) and paper (not styrofoam!) cups.

Nothing.

The location was 15 minutes to The Pearl area on the river walk which I highly recommend for great atmosphere and food. Still just 15 minutes other direction to the main area of river walk. Great Bohemian vibe of hotel(you will think you’re in Cuba).

Hotel has very thin walls so you will hear everything from someone taking a shower to conversations in hall(just take ear plugs or noise canceling machine). Not a big deal if prepared.
