Great location across the street from the Alamo and walking distance to the River Walk, Tower of the Americas, and numerous excellent restaurants. No need for a rental car. The property has been nicely remodeled and the rooms are clean, the bathroom spacious, and the bed very comfortable. We enjoyed the room!

These rooms do not have refrigerators or microwaves. A property of this class should have small refrigerators installed. This is the first place we've stayed at in years that has not had a refrigerator. We had to make a lot of trips to the ice machines (not located on every floor....another miss) and couldn't wake up to a cold drink in the morning. Microwaves are a bit of a luxury but refrigerators for multiple day stays are a must.

The room was very nice. The bar tender was great and very friendly. Very close to the river walk, felt safe in that area. Police were present. Beautiful Hotel.

I booked this on Booking.com and was charge a few dollars more than the base price. emailed the hotel with no reply. I was expecting an explanation of the charge. The staff at check-in were bland, not rude, no smiles or happy to help you. Just checked us in and on with their duties. Only one elevator was operating, which at time took some time to get up to our room. They were working on the broken elevator. Nothing to blame but mechanical failure.

conveniently located literally right across the street from the Alamo and not very far from the Riverwalk once you figure out where everything is. The staff was very kind and helpful. The room was nice and clean. The hotel is run like a well oiled machine with everybody doing their job, the complementary breakfast Buffet was nice. The gym had new equipment and was clean and included a peloton bike, which I really enjoyed. The valet parking for $47 a night was a better option than the public parking lot that’s $30 a night with no In-N-Out privileges.

The pool was on the smaller side, but I’m not on vacation to swim in a pool that much.

I loved the history behind the property, location, and the friendly staff. We even had one of the maintenance staff members give us a quick tour of the hotel and she showed and told us some of the history about it.

The only thing we had a problem with was the first night when we checked in the heat was not working in the room.It is a historic hotel, after all. The receptionist at the hotel sent maintenance up right away and when they couldn’t fix the problem they got us another room right away and helped get us moved to it.

Room was smaller but had everything we needed. Bathroom was nice and the room was very quiet and private. Staff was very helpful and the valet service was great. Staff was very helpful and even had corkscrews to give away to open bottles of wine.

Coffee spill in the room when we checked in so we had a fan dropped off and put a towel over it so no big deal. Other than that everything was great. Staff was very helpful and accommodating.

I love staying here. It’s a beautiful hotel and it’s very close to everything downtown. It’s always clean, cold, and the staff is super friendly and hospitable.

Ok, so while I love the overall appearance of this historic hotel, I felt the bathroom was a little shabbier than normal. I think the hotel needs to revisit their bathrooms and update the walls, tubs, and towel holders. They are getting old and visibly worn.

The hotel is iconic - if you are into history at all, then you have to look at this hotel which was built in 1926, and has served as many things including a hospital at one point. The location is perfect - right in front of the Alamo and so close to the Riverwalk. The staff are amazing - friendly and very helpful - including the front desk young man, the two chamber ladies that chatted to my parents and I as w waited for an elevator ( one broke while we were there for an hour or so) and the bartender. There was a breakfast included and it was actually really good - lots of fresh berries, melon, eggs, bagels, pastries, bacon, etc. My dad asked the server if she had any tangerines, she didn't, but she very kindly went and got cold oranges for him in the kitchen. The staff really is very kind and polite. All of them. The beds were really comfortable and the room was clean. Lots of towels.

Eventually the rooms need a paint job- the hallways seem a little dark - maybe it needs a little makeover - but then I guess it will go to being a 5 star hotel.

Location, Location, Location. Cannot say enough about this hotel's location. Right on Alamo square, walking distance to the Alamo, The Riverwalk, and many attractions. The rooms were big and comfortable and the staff were all very nice. We stayed because it is the 3rd most haunted hotel in the Nation, and we stayed on the 12tgh floor which I believe is the old operation floor when the hotel was still a Hospital years and years ago. The hotel is very neat and we will stay there again.

Parking...Non existent. This is typical for downtown San Antonio, but for such a large hotel there were not many options. Wee chose to valet for $35 a day. This seems high, but allowed us the freedom to come and go. The other lots are $15 every time you park. The hotel offered breakfast, but it was a bit pricey, $17 a person for a buffet that you find at most Hilton's for free.

The staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Changing my room was a smooth and hassle free transaction. The location is unbeatable, being only a few feet from The Alamo and River Center Mall I was able to sightsee without running into crowds (also makes for a sweet breakfast spot eating my muffin in front of The Alamo cuz it's literally just a hop and a skip from the hotel) . The rooms were small, but for a solo traveler it was more than comfortable!

The rooms could do with better lighting. It was a bit dim especially in the poolside rooms, which was one of the reasons I asked for a different room. Thankfully there was a room open in the 11th floor which provided with plenty of natural light and nice views.

Excellent location! Within walking distance to the Riverwalk, the Alamo, a beautiful Catholic church, and much more. The room was larger than your average hotel room, had comfortable beds and black out curtains, always a plus. Very quiet and clean!

The hotel itself does not have a parking lot. After a day of having trouble with the parking fees on the public lot next door we ended up using their valet parking which was much better. Daily fee. The cleaning product used in the lobby area has a very strong scent, actually too strong. And the hallways have a musty smell, probably need new carpet. But overall great stay will be back.
