The start at hanoi backers was not good..i arrived to be taken to a different hotel without knowing clearly what was happenning....language problems.....all money was taken upfront, without me knowing where i will stay the 2 nights booked??...but all turned out ok...i did nt stay at hanoi backpackers but they gave me 2 excellent hotel rooms for the 2 nights i paid for...and so all turned out ok...very central hotels....i really had an excellent time in Hanoi
The confusions in the first evening from hanoi backers...all money taken up front...without full explanations...however the staff in both the 2 hotels, landmark hotel, and then lavender boutique hotel were simply excellent at the manner they apologized to me and then resolved the issues fully..thanks guys, you both hotels were very professional..so no hard feelings at all

Great value for money - room and facilities were good! Staff were so friendly and super helpful - gave tips and recommendation for Hanoi and helped us book our trips to Sapa and Ha Giang (highly recommend booking through the hostel - great value again and made it very easy for us planning wise with all transport, accommodation, meals included). Hostel was very central in Hanoi - we walked everywhere. Breakfast included and free beer for happy hour three days a week - great for socialising and meeting other people travelling.

We booked a private room, rather than a dorm, which meant we were transferred across to the Lavender Boutique Hotel (https://www.booking.com/hotel/vn/lavender-old-quarter.en-gb.htm) nearby. Breakfast is simple, but good value for money. The location Couldn't be better - towards the edge of the Old Quarter, surrounded by street food and local shops, 20min walk from the Military History Museum and Imperial Citadel. The staff were friendly and helpful, recommending restaurants and booking booking onward travel for us. The room was clean and well furnished, the bed comfortable and the bathroom and shower everything we needed
The electrics in our room were dodgy. Putting our key card in the slot activated power, but took between a second and 5min to register. We couldn't control the bedside lights with any switch in the room...but one of them did come on randomly at 3am at least once!

We stayed at the partner hotel as we booked our own room. The staff drove us on a bike to the hotel. The bed was very comfortable. It is 1 min walk from the cafe to see the trains and about 10 min walk to Hoàn Kiếm Lake. The staff were great, and breakfast was basic but plenty enough. There are also many cafe around for great coffee.
This has nothing to do with the hotel, but we did witness cooked dogs down the rd from this hotel. Again, nothing to do with the hotel but please do be mindful of this. Only reason why the hotel didn't get 10 for location.

Otherwise it's a good bargain. Also the staff gives you recommendations for some trips to take and will organise bus/train/taxi to wherever you want to go. The beds, shower, toilets etc. are all to Vietnamese standards and they have cleaning personal checking everything once a day. Mon/Wed/Fri is free beer between 7 and 8pm. A good chance to get to know other travellers.
The things I didn't like came from the other Backpackers there. Guys, if you realise a room is moist, just leave the ventilation on and if you took a shower and the floor is all wet take the 10secs to sort it out... I wasn't allowed to park my bike there. I think the reason was because I didn't rent it at their place but they told me it's for security reasons.

The Hanoi City Backpackers Hostel was the best stay we had in Vietnam! We were able to get the private room which was very comfortable. The hostel was really helpful in helping us organising our trip. Mai, from the hostel, was allways there asking us how things were and it was so good to have that kindly hand during our trip. She was this superwoman who arrange us the hagiang, sapa and also halong bay cruise. She really helped us a lot and we are so thankfull!! Thank you so much for this wonderfull experience!!

Great location, 10 minutes walking to beer street or 10 minutes walking to train street, good restaurants around the hostel. Kind staff, breakfast is good. You can get the tours directly with that hostel and as far as I concern I certainly believe that is cheaper than buying that on internet. They gave me one beer free. Thanks
Just give more instructions to the guest to keep the bathroom clean to use the squeegee. Shower and toilet are in the same place so some people left the bathroom too wet when they took their shower.

Organised pick up from the airport, easy check in and they transported us to their sister hotel - Lavender Boutique Hotel for our private room. All the staff were super friendly and helpful and gave us suggestions for things to do. Organised a walking tour for the following day for us. The room was large and beds were comfortable. Breakfast was nice and convenient. Mai was great and organised Ha Long Bay and Ha Giang Loop for us. It was handy that we could store our luggage at the hotel whilst we went on our tours. The location was really good!
The cleanliness could be better. Our bathroom drainage was bad and so the whole floor flooded every time we showered.

My recent stay at Hanoi Backpackers Hostel in the bustling Old Quarter of Hanoi was an absolute delight. This hostel exceeded all my expectations, offering a clean and comfortable environment, fantastic amenities, a welcoming atmosphere, and an outstanding level of service. The first thing that struck me was the hostel's cleanliness and neatness. The common areas and dormitories were impeccably maintained, which instantly put me at ease. The attention to detail in maintaining a tidy and hygienic space was commendable, and it added to the overall comfort of my stay. One of the standout features of this hostel is its friendly and helpful staff. From the moment I checked in, I felt welcomed and supported by a team that was always ready to assist with any questions or requests. They provided invaluable advice on local attractions, dining options, and transportation, and were exceptionally cooperative, ensuring that my stay was as enjoyable as possible. The hostel's weekday happy hours, offering complimentary beer, were a pleasant surprise. It's a wonderful opportunity to mingle with fellow travelers in the relaxed and social atmosphere of the common area. This added bonus made the hostel even more appealing and encouraged a sense of community among guests. A highlight of my stay was booking the Halong Bay tour through the hostel. The process was seamless, and the staff guided us through the available options, helping us choose the tour that best suited our preferences. What made it even more convenient was that the tour bus picked us up right at the hostel's entrance, eliminating the need for additional transportation arrangements. In summary, Hanoi Backpackers Hostel in the Old Quarter of Hanoi is a superb choice for travelers seeking a comfortable and well-maintained place to stay. The cleanliness, welcoming staff, happy hours, and the convenience of booking tours on-site make it an excellent option for both solo adventurers and groups.
