Hotel Kartaxa

The Hotel Staff was lovely and overall our stay was comfortable. The room was clean and the air conditioning was perfect as we could control it ourselves. Breakfast was pretty good too! All in all Kartaxa was a pleasant place to be for the four nights we were there.

There was a misunderstanding with the pricing of our room. We booked a Superior Double Room, which Booking stated included a seating area. However, our room had no seating area. We were then informed that the price of the Superior Double was due to the diameter of the room rather than the seating area. Which is fine, but it would have been good to know.

The breakfasts were great. The location was excellent. Very walkable to most sights of interest. Lots of good restaurants nearby. The staff was very helpful. Got us reservations at restaurants that we otherwise would not have gotten into. The rooms were a good size and the bed was comfortable. Hotel interior was beautiful.

Our room was at the back of the hotel backing onto a school ground that became very noisy by 6:30 a.m. every morning. We are early risers so wasn't a huge issue for us, but would have been if we liked to sleep in. The stairs to the third and particularly the fourth floors are extremely steep. There are no elevators.

Friendly and helpful staff. An amazing location location - I think it's in the prettiest part of the walled city, though everything (including Getsemani) is within a ten-minute walk, or so. The entire facility is remarkably clean and the flowers are beautiful! Our visit featured an excellent (with a diversity of offerings) breakfast and ridiculously friendly restaurant staff. Honestly, we preferred this breakfast (food and vibe) to our four-star hotel.

My ratings are based on this hotel's categorization as a three-star facility. It's excellent in that class, which is to say, it's beautiful and tidy but our room was quite small. Not a complaint, just a heads up for fellow travelers. Also, the pool and pool deck are small and cramped. If the pool is your priority, then perhaps look elsewhere.

In the old city, the hotel is well kept and comfortable with excellent and helpful staff. The breakfasts are incredibly good, with and excellent choice. We would definitely stay here again when we return to Cartagena.

Loved the staff, super warm and friendly, very welcoming and super helpful, made feel right at home, specially considering I was travelling alone. The breakfast that was included totally exceeded my expectations, had a big variety of options, all things were very delicious. The location is ideal, close to top shopping areas, restaurants and very safe to walk around. Made it super easy and comfortable to visit the city, and be able to quickly get back to refresh or rest in my room when needed. Overall great value for money!

The pool is a bit small, but it’s alright for the price of the stay.

Right at the "Ciudad Amurallada", it is cozy and comfortable. The staff is very cordial, the front desk and breakfast attenders are the best, they will do everything on their reach to attend you, always with a smile on their faces. Bedroom is ok, well decorated. Air conditioner was nice warm shower as well (not all Cartagena hotels have it).

The bathroom is small and the lack of a glass wall makes it messy after some showers. No mini-fridge.

Breakfast was very good and plentiful. The staff was friendly and very hard working but the service was slow. However we were a big group and on vacation so we did not mind that it took a while to get our food. Our room was very nice but the bathroom was small with no counter space to put toiletries. The location was fantastic.

I made a mistake in my previous review. I thought I was rating a different hotel so please disregard my previous review. We really enjoyed our stay at the Kartaxa. The lack of AC in the sitting area in the first floor courtyard was the only negative.

very nice colonial style hotel in Cartagena`s old city. The location was great, You could walk to all the sights and it is perfect for shopping, also lots of great restaurants in the area. The breakfast was delicious with a large selection of dishes. The staff was very nice and attentive.

My room was on the ground floor so it was a bit loud in the mornings, also it did not have a fridge. Although the size of our room was ok a couple of people in our party had rooms that were kind of small. Others however had very large rooms!

It's a really nice hotel in the centre of the city so easily within walking distance to bars and restaurants. The hotel staff were very friendly and helped us book a tour to the islands around Cartagena. The room was a fair size and the bed was comfy. Would recommend for a night or two.

Breakfast is "a la carte" which has good options but a buffet is always better I think. The bathrooms are fine but could maybe be updated a little.

the bed in our room was definitely not for tall people XD, there was this wooden feet board and we could nor stretch out legs comfortably
