Mountain Heritage Hotel

The property was in a beautiful spot. The house was a step back in time. So beautiful. Room was presented clean but found rubbish beside bed from previous visitors. Not really a deal breaker though. Spa Bath was beautiful.

The fireplace, whilst it worked, did very little for keeping the room warm. It was lit for us and we were in our room for an hour before going to dinner. I started to feel quite ill. We left the heater on to go have dinner and once returned, a very high smell of gas. And the room wasn't warm, but the fire was happily lit. The gas from the fireplace was what made me ill. So it was turned off and we openened the windows. The windows had no functioning screens. One window had a screen with a big hole, the other window had no screen at all. No spoons or stir sticks to stir the milk or sugar in our tea. Only one bottle of water in our room on arrival for the 2 of us to share. Just small things. But they make a huge difference. Especially for the price that is paid.

Staying at Mountain Heritage was a wonderful experience, we were lucky enough to be there for Christmas in July celebrations so the Hotel was decorated from top to toe in Christmas. The live piano players were a delight to listen to whilst sitting next to the open fires taking in the spectacular views, sipping on a glass of champagne and enjoying a light meal. It felt like home, very relaxing and the staff were very polite, happy and accommodating.

When we were there the weather was incredibly cold, some of the lounge areas could have been a little warmer but if you managed to grab a seat near the open fires it was perfect.

The free parking to start. Warm welcome. Rustic old hotel but warm and comfortable. The view from the terrace just outstanding. Huge king-size bed, very comfy. All amenities, coffee, tea etc. Nice ensuite with bath. Lovely fluffy towels and crisp sheets. Lovely lounges downstairs for that nice red wine by the fire 🔥 Plenty of cafes and restaurants just a short walk away.

Definitely needs a little updating. Rips in net curtains. Carpet a bit bumpy and worn. Steep stairs with skinny treads to step. Another handrail needed on the wall to use the larger tread. Bit of rubber on step hanging off, slip Hazzard for anyone. Not offered in room menu.

Both breakfast and dinner are very decent and well worth it, particularly if you are seated by the windows. Receptionists are very welcoming. The gym, table tennis, pool table room is very well-maintained (hardly visited by anyone). Live music by the fire was lovely and all pianists were very friendly.

The main reason why we didn't give a higher score was the cigarette smell in the room (28) when we first entered. We could also smell that at the corridor on the ground floor (common area) outside certain rooms' doors despite no one was smoking indoor (not that it was allowed anyway). The issue can easily be addressed though by ensuring house-keeper keeps all windows facing the little courtyard closed. That way, the smoke from smokers will not drift into the room. We did not realise one of the windows was open until after a few hours we checked in and by then we had been 'smoked' a few times already.

Our 4-night anniversary stay was wonderful. Location is excellent with those magnificent views from dining & lounge rooms, and 270º from our room ... we were thrilled to be upgraded to the HUGE Mountain View Tower Suite with EVERYTHING! The décor had old-style charm, mountain view rooms are quiet, bed was v. comfortable, shower was good, complimentary bottled water, A/C, WiFi, & Coffee pod gizmo all worked - couldn't ask for more. All staff were friendly and helpful, especially the lady who served us at breakfast. The Jamison Views restaurant is a bit expensive, but it was a special occasion, so we indulged every morning & booked one night for dinner. It wasn't a weekend, so it wasn't busy.

Easy to locate. parking good. beautiful views. maintained excellent. check-in quick. Lovely old world charm & fantastic pictures about the hotel & Katoomba. very comfy beds. Reception on desk both very nice.

Breakfast not good for children. No wifi connection working. reported it straight away & reception was very good getting back to us but said couldn’t contact IT about the issue & stated it was a Telstra issue which meant TV not working for us for Netflix & other channels only normal TV working. so no free wifi. stayed 2 night still not fixed. 2nd TV not in room only cables.

Excellent views, very friendly staff and well-kept luxurious fittings in the hotel. I really enjoyed the delicious breakfast options and the heritage focus of the hotel. I also loved how close the hotel was to the main town centre.

The carpet in my room seemed a little scuffed/stained, but honestly it was minor next to the positives. I would recommend smaller rolls of toilet paper if possible as it seems a waste to pack and throw away nearly a whole roll for a single person staying in a room just for a night or two.

The room was absolutely stunning, with a mesmerizing beauty that left us spellbound. The bed was incredibly comfortable, akin to sleeping on a cloud with the most luxurious bedding. We were so impressed with the heated blanket that we decided to purchase one for our own home. The spacious bathroom spa was a haven of tranquility, providing a remarkable and rejuvenating experience. The hotel staff were exceptionally polite and attentive, and we enjoyed spending time in the inviting hotel bar. The breathtaking views from the room were simply breathtaking. We adored our stay and will most certainly be returning in the future.

One suggestion we have for the spa room amenities is to include a bubble bath option. Additionally, it would be beneficial if the hotel offered a more reasonably priced breakfast or provided the option to select a few dishes. Although the hotel staff couldn't control it, we were unfortunately disturbed by a noisy family who were talking loudly in the corridor early in the morning. And trying to open our door several times.

The room had a great view and the hotel was in a comfortable walking distance to the Katoomba town centre. The parking area seemed quite secure. We loved the live piano music each evening and at breakfast on Sunday morning. We loved the food at breakfast and at dinner. The waiter (maitre d'?), called Scott was very accommodating and friendly.

The "quiet" room was facing a (not too busy ) road. There was a balcony off the bar, below our window where people sat (drinking? and) talking loudly until after 11 pm on the Friday night. The website showed people in fluffy white bathrobes with comfortable armchairs in the room so we were expecting that. There were no bathrobes and the chairs were just upright kitchen-style chairs, though with nicely padded seats. There was nowhere to sit and read in our room. Not sure if we asked for a King Bed or not, but we got a queen bed.

The Mountain Heritage Hotel is a quaint heritage listed hotel. There are views of the mountains from the front of the hotel when it isn't foggy. They have a fantastic piano player that comes in most days in the late afternoon, it is very relaxing to have a coffee and listen to him play. The staff were exceptional. The room was very clean. The hotel has a couple of different lounge areas to sit in which were lovely. They also had a trolley of board games if you wanted to play them.

I found the bed to be a bit too soft, but it is impossible to please everyone. On our second night a family moved into the room above ours and allowed their children to run and jump around the room until 11.30pm at night, it rattled the wall at times. It didn't happen again the next night so I am not sure if someone complained or they moved on. A bit of consideration for others would be great (not the hotels fault). We didn't eat breakfast at the hotel because $45 per person for a buffet breakfast was a bit too expensive for us. The walk into town takes about 10 minutes and the breakfast is much cheaper there.
