Surf Beach Motel Port

No-frills motel, but everything I needed. Spotlessly clean, everything worked, hot shower, comfortable bed with blanket not doona (yay!), friendly staff, convenient location within walking distance of everywhere I needed to go.

I bumped my head on the towel shelf above the towel rail (bent down to dry my face, didn't see the shelf). Turned out the shelf has reasonably sharp metal edges; I got a very minor cut on my scalp. My fault entirely (careless) but maybe the overall arrangement could be improved somehow?

The King Room was generous in size with modern decor and fixtures throughout. The bed was comfortable, and the pillows were of good quality. The kitchenette had all the basics (fridge, microwave, kettle, crockery & cutlery) and more than you need for some simple self-catering. You could also request other appliances, such as a toaster. Tea, coffee, sugar, and little milks provided and restocked daily. The place was spotlessly clean and well run. Good ac/heating unit. Great free WiFi. Most rooms have off-street parking, although this car park area may be tight to navigate for long, large, or high vehicles, as there is a very tight corner to turn for the exit & there is obvious damage to both sides of the driveway where people have struggled to get through, or have miscalculated the turn. The location is in the backstreets of town. Just a few blocks to anything. Within a short walk to: Pizza shop, fish & chip shop, barbers, petrol station, small grocer, fruit & veg, butcher & bakery. But, for more options, it's best to drive. Superb value for money. I will definitely book again.

No real views or outlook, nor a vibrant area. The foot traffic and noise from the 1st floor really penetrates through to the ground floor rooms. Better noise cancelling flooring is required.

Room was very clean and well appointed for the price point. I travel a lot for work and this was definitely one of the better motels I've stayed at. Shower was strong and hot, bed was comfortable and you could really tell that cleanliness was a top priority for them. I'm pretty fussy so it's rare that I don't find something gross in a motel. There was a table in the room to work at. About a 3 minute drive/ 10 minute walk from some spectacular beaches.

An extra blanket would have been great. I don't like to sleep in the air conditioning and I needed to get up in the night to switch it on as the room got cold.

It was reasonably priced and there was plenty of parking along the road outside the motel - just steps away from the entrance. It was very clean and the budget room was equipped with microwave, fridge, plates and cups etc and toiletries. The room was very comfortably warm when we arrived, and the room was easily heated with the air-con controller. We arrived after the reception had closed and our key was left in the room, so we did not interact with any staff at all during our stay.

I didn’t expect the blanket to be a fleece blanket on top of a thin top sheet - maybe this is typical but it made me concerned that it would be dusty, and it wasn’t very warm or comfortable. There was also a small stain on the blanket.

exceptionally clean, well maintained and very thought about room configuration for the budget room including microwave, plates, cutlery, glasses etc. We were actually very impressed.

Walls were not sound proofed, and paper thin, l was kept awake all night able to hear a guy in the adjoining room snore all night, and a couple have a deep and meaning conversation like l was in the room with them and the door comings and goings all night long. zzz i I f you’re a lite sleeper, this is probably not the hotel for you, if you can sleep through anything you’ll enjoy like the snorer in the next room, this room heaps.

I love the concept of motor inns when doing road trips. This was a little gem with allocated parking in front of our motel room, a comfortable bed, decent WiFi, a kitchenette suitable for breakfast at home before hitting the road again, and a friendly proprietor who could cater for us checking in after Reception had closed. We also loved the exterior look of the motel.

I can't find fault. As long as you are a person familiar with Australian motel standards and ratings, you'll find this property exceeds expectations.

Room was super clean and had everything I needed. Check in and out process was easy as I received a text for late check in with clear instructions.

Rude and abrupt staff member when I rang to enquire about checking in late. I’d sent an email as instructed on my confirmation email as I was planning on checking in later than 6:30pm but hadn’t heard back so rang to follow this up and the man who answered was very rude on the phone, felt as if it was a huge inconvenience for him on the phone! Didn’t explain anything just said I’d receive a text and hung up!

This motel has had a full upgrade and for a couple, it was so quiet upstairs and very clean and comfortable. the manager was very friendly and made sure we had everything we wanted. We met friends 12 min walk to the bowling club and 3 min drive from beaches.It was obvious that attention to detail was taken. Lovely stay and we will definately come back.

Port maquarie bumps up their rates for accomodation for Saturday nights unfortunately. So I guess the tarrif was the only negative. However, it was only $50 dearer than a basic motel across town and much nicer. No need for us to uber.

Lovely friendly manager (Ian). The room was lovely and very quiet so great for sleeping. Super clean and smelt lovely.Parking was easy. There was no hairdryer or toaster, but these were cheerfully supplied on request. Had a lovely stay

It was a decent walk to the central area and the bowling club. Although that was not an issue for us as we love walking, it might be for someone less active. Also a little shaded spot outside in a garden setting would have been nice to sit and read a book.

Recently rennovated. Rooms are brand new with good amenities and super clean. Walk to the local bowls club and short drive into town. We were able to park on the street without issue but make sure you include inside parking if you need it or your on the street. We booked a budget room and knew we would park outside. Overall our stay was good.

The guy at the front counter (owner I presume) could have been a bit more friendly on our arrival. Don't expect the red carpet but it doesn't hurt to greet your customers in a friendly manner.
