Hotel Ambassador

Excellent hotel in the center, parking under the hotel, air conditioning works great, beds and pillows are excellent.

I have no complaints

The hotel is in the very center of Vienna. A few steps from St Stephen's Cathedral. We were checked-in before the normal check-in time, so the hotel tries to help guests whenever possible. The Business double room was huge and the toilet and bathroom were in separate rooms, which is useful if you are staying as a couple. We stayed on Bed Only basis, so I cannot comment on the breakfast.

A very bad smell was coming from the toilet room, probably from sewage. Even though a porter is available, we were not offered to have our luggage taken to the room. We would still do it ourselves, but we would appreciate to have been offered that. I saw the porter taking luggage with his trolley the following day, so they definitely do that. The shower cabin's glass has a small gap making the water leak on the floor. Ask for extra towels! We were asked by the cleaning lady at 08:00 on the departure day what time we check out. The checkout time is 11:30, so I felt we were being rushed. I understand she needed to make a cleaning plan, but maybe instruct your housekeeping department not to approach guests directly with this. But all these things are minor, so I still recommend the hotel.

central location no more than about 20 minutes or so from the major landmarks

wanted to try a meal at the restaurant for dinner but the restaurant was only open for breakfast. An underground car park is being built on Neuermarkt and the sound of the workers using pneumatic drills at 6:30 in the morning woke us up.

The hotel is centrally located giving you complete access to everything, all within a nice 10 minute walk.

For there were two things which let the hotel down. 1. There were no tea / coffee making facilities in the room. 2. The towels in the bathroom were very thin and very small, barely covering me. They need to be bigger.

Location was stellar and our room size was very large, nice sitting area, blackout drapes, comfortable bed and nicely appointed bathroom. Our grand dog Loki was very comfortable in the room, there is rarely any street noise. Air conditioner worked well in the bedroom, but the bathroom ran warm.

I called the front desk for assistance with finding TV channels in English. They told me I just had to go through all the channels, which really wasn’t helpful. We stayed at the Up Hotel in Budapest and they had smart TV’s where you could select one of 36 languages. The Ambassador should up grade their TV’s to smart TV’s. Since there is an additional charge for a dog of 20 euros a night it would be nice if they had a small patch of grass or dog run for dogs to void. Very little grass in Vienna, we walked our dog about a 1/4 mile to find grass.

The hotel boasts vintage décor that lends a nostalgic charm, creating a unique and cozy ambiance. Although the lobby is on the smaller side, its layout has been thoughtfully designed to provide an inviting and intimate atmosphere.

Staff are incredibly helpful. Hotel is in a great location and very clean.

Poor soundproofing between rooms due to it being an old building.

This hotel is located within fairly easy walking distance from many museums and sites in old Vienna. We really enjoyed the old style grandeur of the hotel, which made our stay special, since we were wanting to sense the Vienna of the late 19th century/early twentieth century. The rooms very very well equipped and furnished approximating an earlier era.

We didn’t choose to eat the high-priced breakfast at the hotel, but rather in local cafes. Our windows looked down over Kaertnerstrasse, where there is a lot of noise in the evening. But the rooms are spacious and with the windows closed, the sound is muffled.

first class location

We were upgraded to a Club Business room and it was superb! The staff were very friendly and helpful. Including helping is to improve our scant German phrases. The whole city was spotless and everyone we met were very polite and happy to assist.

We were reminded that Vienna is a city and the ringing of church bells from 7:00 is unavoidable and every hour thereafter until being engrossed with the pleasures of the city. It is also worth mentioning that maintaining a spotless city also requires the bins are emptied and the streets are cleaned in the early morning too. None of which detracted from our stay at Hotel Ambassador.
