City Avenue Hotel by HMG

The location is very good, right by the metro station in the city centre. Our room was spacious but a little bit dusty in some spots. The breakfast for decent, nothing to complain about and the check out time at 12PM was really appreciated. Overall, it accorded to our expectations.

The rooms could use a little update and the breakfast can be more varied. Also, the pictures don't really comply with the reality.

For the price its really good. Its a 3 star hotel so I cannot be so strict. Breakfast was ok. Room was big. Heating was working ok. The room has a minibar.

I did not like that the hotel does not look like the photos. (But still pretty good for the price). The only way to close the door from outside is to slam it, thats why so many complainings about the noise. It was true what I read in many comments, there is a horrible smell coming from the bathroom pipes, the only way to minimize it is by having the window open, of course that solution may not apply for some months of the year…

room was clean and offered main equipment - everything according to the description on the site everyday cleaning was included good location, really very close to the metro station well-prepared and relatively cheap breakfast, tasty and fresh, with basic products, fresh juices and very good coffee

The only disadvantage was the bathroom. It didn't have a separate shower cabin, so while I was taking a shower the water was splashing into the floor of the whole bathroom (there were special towels to clean it, but still it was not comfortable)

The shared parts i.e. the lobby, the restaurant, the elevator, the corridors, are good, just like on the pictures. The breakfast is great, the location is great too. There is a private and free parking in front of the hotel. The room was clean.

The private parking is small, and when we stayed it was full because we checked in late in the evening and we had to block 1-2 cars to park and then in the morning I had to move it while I was having breakfast because one of the blocked cars wanted to pass. Also the room was a little bit amortised, I had a feel that when something malfunctions the staff does not care to fix it, the light in the bathroom was distorted, the doors of the wardrobe were getting stuck when trying to open them, same with the drawers next to the bed. But it was clean and the location was great, I still think that it is a good value for the money, just wanted to tell these things so that anyone can know in advance what to expect and decide for his/herself.

Excellent breakfast, everybody very friendly and accommodating (they even got us an extra desk lamp, thank you!). The beds were so comfy, I didn't want to get out of mine! The room was lovely and quiet (although it did need some repair). They also had a special "early bird" offer at half the price of the usual rates, which was an extra bonus.

Not all staff spoke Russian (although it was advertised to have Russian-speaking staff). Also, when I asked if they could book me a taxi to pick me up from the airport, the reply was "there are taxis at the airport" (which I knew about anyway), so I just felt like I was being fobbed off.

Perfect location and the fact that we had free parking, large room with separate bed for my child and nice view! On my second stay I enjoyed the chocolate candies I found as a gift. Coffe and tea making facilitiea is a plus. Nice service in the reception.

I have stayed twice in this hotel in the same room and I have found the same issues with the bathroom: soap handle in the shower cabin loose and terrible smell from sewage. Also in my second stay the minibar had a lot of water inside. The shower area was not properly cleaned. The lady in the breakfast restaurant should smile and greet guests, she was very serious.

- the location was perfect - the value for the money we paid was simply amazing - comfy beds and pillows - the lobby was lovely - great brekfast - huge terrace - free tea and coffee in the room - there was a kettle in the room

- the hotel overall needs renovation - the floors were very old and looked nasty (even they are cleaned they were so old that they don't look okay) - the first floor was fine, but second was awful - there was a problem in the bathroom - the water was leaking

Room was spacious and airy,beds were amazingly comfortable. Breakfast was really good and the chef was constantly checking to make sure that everything was kept topped up. Lots of fresh fruit was available as well as a selection of cheese,cold meats, tomatoes,cucumber and fresh pastries.Good selection of toileteries in the bathroom,shower was fab.

Toaster was a disaster your toast was either under cooked or incinerated.

Excellent service from reception - always available to give us advice and recommendations. We always asked the front desk to order our taxis as there were a lot of dodgy taxis around who over charged. The reception were really helpful.

The rooms could have been a little better maintained in terms of there was a stain on the carpet in the room and the wallpaper was peeling in places. However, this was not a major problem and it was otherwise very nice and clean and excellent value for money.

The hotel is located in a very communicative place and has its own parking for guests. The rooms are cozy, clean and well heated. We were extremely impressed by the breakfast, which offers a large selection of different sweet or savory foods. After we finished our breakfast we enjoyed a strong and warm coffee in the lovely garden next to the lobby bar.
