Hotel Alhambra

A 5 day break in Paris with 2 teenagers. The Hotel Alhambra is in a great location, north of the river, about 15-20min walk from Notre Dame. A Metro stop at the end of the road. A lively area but the street the hotel is on is quiet. We had a junior suite which was really 2 rooms with a sliding door dividing them, and an ensuite bathroom. The sofa bed was ideal for the 2 teens. The rooms aren't huge with really just the floor space around the beds but it's perfectly adequate as we really only slept there. The shower was excellent. There is a wardrobe and some shelves for storage. Buffet breakfast also available for €15 was good. Would highly recommend this hotel for a visit to Paris.

It was a hotel above my expectations. The staff was very friendly. Especially the receptionist HACEN was smiling and sympathetic. He wasn't only for us but all the customers. The location was very good. It's near to the metro and patisserie. I will come to this hotel again when I come to Paris.

This hotel was actually perfect for our week stay in Paris. It is super close the Oberkampf train station and very convenient to reach any tourist places in that manner. Also, walkable distance to the Louvre. There are tons of restaurants and bars in the area. We chose the breakfast option with our stay and it was really good. Plenty of coffee, eggs, cold cuts, salmon, yogurt and pastries. The staff is super nice and friendly. Also they clean the rooms every single day which is no longer done in the USA and that was a great surprise. The staff was extremely helpful whenever we had any questions. They all spoke English which made things easier for us.

The beds could definitely be improved, they are not super comfortable. Also, perhaps guests need to be reminded of quiet hours when they check in. We were in the 3rd floor and had very loud neighbors upstairs, stomping their feet and throwing things around the room carelessly until 2-3am not being considered of other people’s schedules or sleep.

The courtyard is a micro garden of Eden, which sets the Alhambra apart from other tourist hotels. Rooms were comfortable, clean, secure. In a safe neighborhood with restaurants and bakeries, near Oberkampf Metro. Building amenities work well-- we appreciated the AC. Breakfast buffet with a variety of foods is served in a small dining room and the courtyard. This quiet oasis is available throughout the day to guests. Breakfast is worth the 15 euro charge if you don't expect to eat lunch, or if you want an early start. It is available from 7:30 am, unlike most places with a sit-down breakfast--useful if you want to make an excursion to Chartres or Giverny. Past commenters have complained about the hotel's refund policies for changed plans--these policies are typical but rigidly enforced--so get travel insurance. Don't expect a family-run hotel to absorb the cost.

The two-twin bed room is small, typical for tourist hotels in Paris. Breakfast is available at many bistros for less, but these generally don't open until 8:30 or 9. Boulangerie breakfast of espresso drink, juice, and pastry or baguette are much cheaper, but may not satisfy the hungry traveler. The owner is inclined to sarcasm. Don't let it bother you.

good location just 2mins from Oberkampf metro station. plenty of shops nearby; eateries, pharmacies, dry cleaners and supermarket. we were able to walk to the river seine. We were also able to walk to the Louvre and other shopping areas. Walking made us see France easier.

Nice location very close to the Oberkampf metro station. There are tons of restaurants, cafes and bars in the area, and the hotel is also close to several main commercial streets. Walkable to many attractions/popular areas, including the Seine, the Latin Quarter, Place de la République, Montmartre and Place de le Concorde (all within an hour's walk of the hotel). Room was very clean. Young guy who checked me in during my late arrival was very friendly!

Rooms are a bit small but what I expected for western Europe. As an FYI, reception was very concerned with the number of people in each room. We checked out a day before our friend and left our bags in her room that morning to get breakfast. When we came back, the reception tried to charge us 50 euros per person. (We hadn't even gone into the room to get our bags yet - we were just sitting together in the lobby.) Reception argued with us at length about whether we had paid for our own room the night before, even though we had just checked out a few hours ago. I agree you shouldn't try to sneak extra people into your room, but keep this in mind if you are planning on having anyone visit you during your stay.

This hotel is in a great location. While it offers breakfast, there were patisseries all around that were wonderful and so Parisian. Staff were helpful sending us in the right direction for brasseries, etc. for dinner - great location in so many ways. Near Metro which for getting RER to Charles de Gaulle. Our window looked out over a gorgeous patio filled with trees, flowers, flowering bushes - and birds. Hard to believe we were in the heart for Paris. Guests can use patio when they are not serving breakfast. Very, very nice. Staff friendly and helpful.

The room was a little small but very comfortable. Great value for its location. We will go back on future trips to Paris.

Great location. A bit rowdy on the street, but hell, it’s Paris! I had hoped for old style cozy, but the room was clean, the staff friendly, and it had the best shower we’ve ever had in the city.

The breakfast was a buffet-style offering that you had to pay for in advance. The food was pretty good -- nothing too incredible. What was very nice was the option to take your breakfast out to eat in the garden, a lush tangle of greenery in an enclosed atrium. Our room was pretty small, with 2 twin beds in it, but it worked fine for us, as we didn't spend a lot of time there. The housekeeping service did a good job of cleaning up daily. The front desk staff were always friendly, and the location was perfect -- within a few yards of the Oberkampf metro station.

It seemed odd to us that the shower was open, with no door or curtain to keep water contained, but that was a minor annoyance. The paint on the inside of the bathroom door was worn off (possibly due to exposure to water from the shower). At night, we occasionally got too hot, and it didn't seem to be possible to turn the air conditioner down any cooler. But during the day it was fine.

The hotel is very well located in one of the nicest neighborhoods of Paris (on the border of Le Marais and Oberkampf). The private garden of the hotel is a "trouvaille", a small oase in the middle of the city where you can start your day wonderfully with the nice breakfast that is being served. Rooms are somewhat small (as is the standard in Paris), but very well equipped. We travelled with 2 older ladies (80+) and us being a couple (traveling together as one family) and this hotel had everything we could have wished for. Truly recommended when looking for a stay in a central area and where you are always welcomed in person by one of the friendly staff members that is present 24/7.
