Hotel de France Gare de Lyon Bastille

The location is great. Just a 3 min walk from Gare de Lyon train station. There are also many restaurants and shops within walking distance and easy transfer to the CDG airport.

The heat in the room! The temperature in my room was too hot! Very annoy, I couldn’t sleep. I asked the gentleman downstairs if he could do something about it. He changed some things in his screen, but the temperature in the room didn’t. There is a thermostat in the room, which I turned down about 4 degrees, but still. Nothing happened. It’s just one of those central systems. When the temperature is warm outside, the staff should be able to make the rooms comfortable instead of just keeping the heat on. It’s very annoying to pay for a night stay when you can’t sleep.

All the staff were warm and friendly. Our room was very smart, comfortable and clean. The double bed was large and extremely comfortable. The room was quiet and there were blackout curtains. The toilet was separate from the bathroom. It was useful to have a mini bar with complementary bottled water. We were glad to be able to store our baggage free of charge until our train later that afternoon. We would not hesitate to return.

We considered the breakfast but the hot food was dry and had clearly been sitting there for some time. We also felt it was expensive at €14. We would like to have known in advance that the baggage store is on the second floor which meant we had to take our bags back upstairs from reception when we checked out.

Small but comfortable rooms. Very quiet, immaculately clean. The hotel breakfast was good quality including hot options, fresh fruit and continental-style breakfast items. The dining space was small, it was never overcrowded during our stay. The hotel staff were all friendly, very helpful and welcoming. The hotel is located a short walk from Gare du Lyon and the metro, with good local restaurants neaby (try Quai 33 opposite the hotel, a great Crepe restaurant next door and Charletperrin on rue Michel Chasles all recommended). Excellent walk along the reclaimed railway track, now a park, on Avenue Daumesinil. A friendly, comfortable hotel, conveniently located for exploring Paris.

Windows did not open in our rooms however the air conditioning was quiet and effecteive.

This is a great find at this price point, so close to Gare de Lyon. My room (410) was completely renovated, including the good size shower room, with luxurious cotton towels. All impeccably clean. The staff was very friendly helpful and informative too. The only suggestion would be to add fresh fruit to the breakfast menu and a box of tissues.

Everything was very good to excellent.

The staff were very welcoming and kind. The hotel was very nicely decorated it all felt clean and tidy. I didn’t have breakfast here so can’t comment on that but the facilities in the room were good. We had a hairdryer kettle and mini fridge.

It would have been nice to have hot chocolate sachets for the kettle. The only downfall was how loud it was you can hear everything on the street outside and it’s loud all night. There was also works being done which was very loud. Thankfully we were getting up early anyway but it was noisy all through the night. You could also hear a lot of walking around from upstairs.

It is a nice clean and convenient hotel. If you are looking for a place to sleep and discover Paris this is a good place. I like the fact it is a bit outside the main attractions so you get a bit more of the real feeling of Paris with markets and bakeries nearby. The staff is the best, really friendly. The room was small but comfortable and well thought out (usb chargers where they are needed, good lightning, good AC. It is calm and not noisy.

The shower could have a better way to close it out, other wise you make a mess around the bathroom. I get this is to consume less water but, I honestly I think it does the opposite, my shower was longer just because I had to find out the ways not to spill water all over the place. Plus it is uncomfortable. Hotels in Europe should have learned this by now...

The room was very clean and modern. It had clearly been renovated and the work was done well. We were in a quiet location with no noises disturbing our sleep. There were enough USB outlets to plug all our devices in each night.

The shower and the toilet were in separate rooms which was fine except the only sink was with the shower, so you couldn't wash your hands after using the toilet if someone was showering. The shower room had virtually no storage so the three of us had to constantly shuffle our things around whenever someone was going to shower, brush, etc. The shower has no door so you get water on the floor every time, no matter how careful you are. Even if water doesn't flow onto the floor the shower spray gets out there and everything is wet.

The hotel is well located close to the Gare de Lyon, with excellent metro access (ligne 1) and close to the Place de la Bastille, the Marais, plus a fab Parisien cafe opposite the Opera. The rooms are generally very quiet and the staff very responsive. It is also walk-able to the left-bank where my friend and I spent a memorable afternoon.

They checked me into a room with a problem with the air conditioning issue and a humming noise which was louder on my return after the theater. However the guy on reception came up and changed my room immediately so again the staff are very responsive.

Very new room exactly like in picture, location very good not far from subway with escalators and near bus stop, many restaurants, and super mart. We book triple room and in 4th floor has single bed so we have area for luggage(but on 3th floor is full bed so, a little bit small space left), each bed has type C, USB and plug for charging that great!!! In addition the hotel has storage room, so we can ask for the key to leave our luggage hear before check in or after check out.

Baht room has no floor border in shower cabinet so the water was soaked to sink area, however bathroom and toilet are separated.

Beautifully clean and has everything you need. Great location for the train station and plenty of choice nearby for eating and drinking. Just a short walk to the Bastille monument and all the cafes around it.

The room is tiny. Nowhere to put luggage unless you have a very small bag, so any more than a 1 night stay for two people, out of the question. There’s a door stop in the middle of the walkway to the bed and my husband kept stubbing his toe on it; no need for it to be there as could be on the wall for example. The bed is described as a “large”double. It is a standard double so this description is misleading.
