Hotel Viator - Gare de Lyon

Short walking distance to Gare de Lyon station. Distinctive older building but refurbished and up to date. Good breakfast but has small breakfast room. Rooms can be small but bathroom (esp. shower) is roomy enough & no complaints. Many eateries around the area so you won’t go hungry. There is a 'fruit de Mer' brasserie near the hotel and across from the station that seemed quite popular when I was there. No. 1 Metro has separate entrance in front of (as well as inside) the station with access to other lines. Convenient for overnight transfers.

My single room , 305, had a broken air con system that made lots of noise when on and not much else, fortunately there was an oil heater provided that had adjustability (it was February) and was perfect for my purposes. I am mentioning this as reminder to the property to replace the broken air-con unit. I found out the hard way that if you press the control panel it will start noise making (and I couldn't turn it off) and if you don’t, then it will be quiet. Any way I had plenty of heat in the room.

Big shout out to Christine, the concierge at the front desk! When we found out at the last minute that our train had been canceled from Paris to Milan, she was so helpful in finding us alternative routes, she really went above and beyond…she even called our hotel in Lake Como for us as she speaks Italian. She was able to give us instructions from the hotel about canceling…she also helped us in planning our new route…conveying details about additional road closures…due to the landslide that caused our train to be canceled.

Great location near the Gare De Lyon station, which we can go any major attractions by metro and RER, including Eiffel Tower, Disneyland Paris, Versailles, etc. Really appreciate the staff's service and security. They locked the hotel entrance every time they left the counter for their business. They took a good care of our luggages on the last day of us even though we have checked out.

The location was perfect for me right by the train station. The staff was accomodating with me speaking only English. I am an artist on residency in Europe, based in Germany from the U.S. and I needed a quiet place to rest my head after long hard days pounding the pavement for a gig. I had to present to galleries for representation and I also had an exhibition. The place for me was an Oasis from the bustle of Paris and an art scene that is hard to break into especially doing cold calls and not speaking the language. It's Paris.

The hotel is conveniently located, especially if you need to go to Gare de Lyon. Jardin de Plants and Opera Bastille are within 15 minutes walk. The area is very lively, there are a lot of bars and restaurants nearby.

I was very excited to go to France for the first time since the pandemic started. I put a lot of effort into learning French during the Covid-19 lockdown, achieved advanced level and was looking forward to using it. When I arrived at the hotel and started speaking French to the receptionist, he asked me if we could speak English and said "I don't want to put you in pain by making you speak French.. because this will put me in pain".

Staff were very pleasant and ready to help. It was nice and clean. Hotel is in a good location for the Gare De Lyon and there are bars and restaurants close by. It is a typical Parisian style hotel with lots of floors but they do have a small lift. Breakfast was okay and you could have as much as you liked. We would stay again.

English tea would be nice in the room but when I asked for some and some milk, staff were very happy to oblige.

Room was great - clean and convenient for my single night use, good price, cant complain. The location was very close to Gare De Lyon, which meant an effortless short walk of 1 minute to get into the station and get my train on time! The staff were nice and pleasant which is all we can ask for as tourists! Id definitely book again!

Close to Gare de Lyon. Rooms were charming. Good curtains to block light, and even though my room was on a busy street, I did not hear traffic noise. Air conditioning worked well also, which was great as it was very warm.

Nothing to comment on. The room was a small size which was fine for me, but it would have been tight with 2 people and their suitcases.

The hotel is located just in a few minutes of Gare de Lyon and there are many places for eating within walking distance. A lift is available though it's pretty small. Considering location, the price is reasonable by Paris standard.

A tissue paper was not available. It would be better if water pressure of shower had been stronger.

Close to the Gare De Lyon, which was very convenient as I was travelling south (first stay) and returning to UK (second stay). The staff were helpful and friendly and the hotel and surroundings have a welcoming French atmosphere. Access to wi-fi was free and without difficulty or passwords.

The single room and en suite shower/toilet was small but clean and fully equipped.
