Metropolis Hotel

Location was great, and view was wonderful.

Bathroom was too small and no shelving for a family of 4 to place toiletries on so we had to put things on the floor.

Loved the location and value of the room. There was a lovely roof top breakfast with a view of the Acropolis. Our room had a genourously sized balcony with patio set. Staff was VERY helpful in the morning when our prearranged driver did not show up. Staff member helped us get a taxi who charged us the appropriate amount. This occured like 5 am. I felt the room was large enough for 3 adults who were there only to sleep.

Wished there was a second pillow. I could have asked but did not bother to ask. Next time I would ask for a 2nd pillow.

The location of the hotel is very good. When you reach Syntagma Square from the airport, it is a 5-minute walk from Syntagma. Monastiraki, Acropolis, Panepistimio, Ethnikos Kipos are very close to the hotel. The view of the room we stayed in was very nice. For 4 days we started the day with the view of Acropolis and Athens Metropolitan Cathedral. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was cleaned every day.

The room was a bit small.

Hotel was conveniently located between the Plaka marketplace and Syntagma Square and within walking distance to the Agora. A special treat was the small balcony that overlooked the Church. We had a nice view of the Acropolis from the rooftop and enjoyed breakfast there each morning. You could even request an omelet from the young lady in the kitchen! We asked for recommendations at the front desk for dinner and desserts and both suggestions were delicious!! Mezze Athens (dinner) and Chatzis (bakery-best orange cake!) both restaurants were on the same street towards Syntagma Square only a few blocks away. We arrived before check in time and left our luggage for storage only to be pleasantly surprised that it had been delivered to our room prior to our return. The hotel also arranged for us to get transportation from the airport and even though our plane was delayed for hours the taxi driver was still waiting for us with a sign.

The location was great, and the staff very friendly and helpful. 24 hour reception. 6 euro breakfast was good value for money. Was bought a kettle and cup on request but not automatically provided. Nor were tea bags etc. Although the room was relatively small by most standards, it being Athens, space is of a premium. But it was located in a perfect spot for wandering the city on foot and the staff were very friendly/ helpful. Clean and tidy.

Getting past the large hand basin to the shower area was very narrow. The thin quilt was threadbare around the edges and not overly warm. Sheets etc were of good quality and very clean though. The positives outweighed the negatives.

The location is great! Easy access to the subway, the Acropolis, the Agora, lots of good restaurants and shops nearby. Staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is simple yet delicious!! And it is served on the terrace, with an unobstructed view of the Parthenon.

Our room was really small. Travelers with regular-sized suitcases would have trouble finding enough space to open them. We stayed there while an Orthodox relic was on display at the church across the street. While it's not the hotel's fault, there was chanting all through the night, and we could hear it as if it was inside the room, even with the window closed.

Location was excellent! We could walk to Acropolis, Metro Station, and bus stops. There were wonderful restaurants all around us. We also had a very nice breakfast at the hotel's rooftop terrace with an incredible view of the Acropolis. The front desk staff were always present and helpful in explaining how we could get where we wanted to go.

We found the room with three beds to be a bit tight.

The 24 hr. staff were all great, friendly and very helpful. The room was clean and the location was perfect. We stopped first at the hotel up the street with almost the same name and then found ours...at first we thought what a disappointment but after a day we were happy we choose this hotel. Everything you could possibly want is right outside the door. I recommend downloading Rick Steves walking tour which starts right down the street. We loved this hotel. Perfect for couples!

I wouldn't say I didn't like it but the elevator was small and slow. That's the only thing I can say negative. Also, I didn't have a remote control for the a/c but I didn't need it.

The position of the hotel was fantastic, there was always a member of staff on the desk and they organised an early airport transfer for us. It was a comfortable room with the most incredible view of the Acropolis...even from the shower. The area felt very safe and had many nice restaurants, supermarkets and it was walkable to the Acropolis sites. We only had one night but will definitely be back to spend longer in what is a fantastic city.

There was nothing we did not like.

The hotel is as central as you could get to the top sights in Athens. It is among hundreds of restaurants, bars and shopping locations. The hotel is clean and room is adequate in size. They offer decent breakfast for a relatively cheap price.

The room itself could perhaps be renewed with better furnishings (the wall shelf in my room for instance was tilting down because it wasn't properly installed on the wall, and the top of the desk in my room was just a painted plank of wood that moved around). It seems like the bathroom is quite newly repaired but the work on it seems crudely done.
