Danaos Hotel

I can't really give a full review of the hotel because we only booked a one nights stay. Due to the fact that we had a late night flight and the hotel we stayed in couldn't let us keep our room on as it was fully booked. However, we went and explained to the receptionist at Danaos the day before that we had booked a room but would only be staying for 9 hours. She told us that check-in was 2 p.m., but if the room was ready, we could have it straight away, which it was. We were very grateful that we could have the room from 11 am. , I can. However, give a full review of the hotel bar where we spent many fantastic evenings. The bar staff were excellent, so friendly, and always greeted us with a welcoming smile. We would definitely recommend the Danaos Hotel, but we would pay more for a bigger room with a sea view if available because from what we could see, the hotel is very popular with many returning guests.

Nothing really we booked the cheapest room and it was ample for our requirements, but maybe a kettle in the room would be a good idea.

I keep coming back to this place for its great location, cleanliness, laid-back atmosphere, comfortable beds, sea view rooms overlooking the clean, attended beach right on the doorstep, non-intrusive and easy-going management and staff, café with Charma beer on tap and dakos:) Hands down the best value for money hotel in Nea Chora area with some of the best seafood tavernas in town along a tidy and rather quiet pedestrian promenade, a small fishing harbour and marina. See you next year!

We had an amazing stay at this hotel! If you are looking for a luxurious decor, this is not the place for you. But if you value cleanliness, proximity to the beach (and what a nice, sandy, perfect beach it is) and taverns, friendly staff, gorgeous sunsets, at a more than decent price, then this is the place for you. The sea view room was worth every penny! And what a great surprise it was, having live music on the terrace on Sunday! This was the cherry on top of everything for us, those guys were just great! The Old town of Chania is just 15 minutes away, it's a great place to visit but we were glad we picked a quieter place to stay. We will deffinitely be back next year!

Very mixed feelings about parking, from the one side this a good thing that hotel has one but from the other hand this is a quite bit away of hotel and there no control of your car being left there. We've arrived late as our flight was late and we've blocked 2 or 3 cars trying to park in hotel's parking. We have aware the staff about situation asking for call at morning, ones somebody would be in needs to leave parking early. They said that this wouldn't be a problem, well. Next morning we've been at 7.30 morning ready to start exploring beautiful Crete but first thing we've discovered was that our car has been scratched on side of it with probably keys and wiper washers has been lifted(that is the way how we learned some of the rules of Crete) there is no CCTV so ...

Amazing hotel for the price! Was always extremely clean and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. Hotel is located on the beach front which means it's so easy to meander down for some early morning sun. Old Town is only a 10 minute walk away so plenty of options for places to eat and drink. There's also a number of places nearer the hotel including the hotel bar itself. We rented a car and although there isn't dedicated parking at the hotel there is plenty of space in the backstreets and we didn't struggle to find places to park each day. For the price I would definitely recommend.

Nothing! Fantastic hotel for the price.

For the price it is very good. Parking space is 2 minutes away from the hotel. It's 2 meters literally across from the beach. A hairdryer was provided in the room. We always had hot water for the shower. Ladies at the reception were super nice. The hotel itself is around 15-minute walk from the old Harbor, location is excellent. There are plenty of restaurants nearby along the sea side. Hotel has its own sunbeds and umbrellas.

Furniture is a little bit old but we did not care about it.

The staff is excellent and helpful. The location is right across from the beach within easy walking distance to food and markets. The rooms were clean and were big enough to not feel claustrophobic. The parking when you could get it was fairly close to the hotel. Breakfast was decent but there was a tasty crepe place a short walk away that was excellent. There is a nice beach, snorkeling etc right in front of the hotel. I would definitely consider staying here again.

It would be nice if you could get a lounge chair in front of the hotel for free if you are a guest of the hotel. Other than that it was a great hotel.

The staff were great - special mention for Dianna and Anastasia. The location is great. This is the only remaining hotel directly on the beach at Nea Hora. The is a good bar and restaurant. Reception is 24/7. Rooms are good value especially the larger 4 berth inland facing rooms which are affordable for 2 guests and have loads of space if you dont travel light. The hotel has a car park. Its 2 Minutes away on Selinou St but it cant be any closer as you cant park on Nea Hora any more. The rooms are kept clean by the staff who come in every day. Bathrooms are a reasonable size as is the wardrobe. Our room had a full size fridge with freezer compartment. Aircon is powerful although its not climate control it still cooled the room down quickly - it was mid 30's a lot of the time we were there. Despite being on the beach front we didn't have any issues with noise - we were at the back though. There are plenty of local places to eat and drink and its a 15 minute sea front stroll into the old town of Chania.

Like most properties here water heating is by solar. That good for the environment obviously. The downside it that sometimes if you get back to the beach after 19.00 there is no hot water left. The hotel has a boiler which heats the water when the solar supply is exhausted. We had to reluctantly ask for this to be switched on a few times during a 10 day stay. It then takes about about 30 minute to get properly hot again. Bearing in mid that we we there when the sun is in the sky longer than at any other time of the year and it was seriously strong, it looks like the hotel could do with more solar heating capacity.

The beach is right on the doorstep - hardly can be much closer this (well, actually we didn't try it out, but more due to shortness of stay rather than objections to the beach itself). Chose the place as a budgetary option with good reviews, and were quite satisfied with what we got. Nothing to be particularly excited about, but the comfort level was acceptable for the category. Bus (KTEL) station within walkable distance - 10-15 mins or so. Quite a lot of reasonable eateries nearby (including at the hotel itself).

The bed was quite smallish in either of two dimensions - the least comfortable we had during stays in 5 different hotels while on this trip. A good reason to think twice about staying here again when planning our next trip to Chania. The walk to the Chania centre along the coast is quite nice, but with repeating can start to feel tedious (could be around 2 km or so). Although well - actually quite glad that there were no sensible budget options in centre at time of the booking, as it was far too crowded for our liking.

Spacious room, comfy mattresses, really clean facilities overall and all equipment are new! The cafe is a cool place to have a.coffee and branch as you get great beach views. There is a car park for guests but not close to the hotel.

The AC took quite some time to cool the room. The car park is about 250m from the hotel. The lift needs modernisation.
