Hotel Bavaria

What a brilliant first hotel experience in the heart of Florence! Superb location - just 2 minutes walking distance to the Duomo. Vincenzo, the manager, is an absolute gem - I had to check in earlier than planned, and the communication was excellent. I could send some check-in information over the phone, and finish the rest after dropping my bags and doing my timed entrance museum visit. His colleague also gave me lots of good recommendations for good local restaurants to sample. I could leave my bag at the reception after check-out until late afternoon while I was still exploring Florence. It's a historic building - so no lift and rooms are from the 2nd floor upwards, and toilets are shared (very clean), although a lot of rooms, including mine, have private showers. But frescoes on the wall of the staircase and such a charming entrance hall area. My room was super clean and well-presented, again with wall frescoes and so spacious. Window in my room was facing the courtyard so there was no street noise. Hotel Bavaria is really affordable for the wonderful experience that it offers. I will definitely book here again next time I visit Florence!

The hotel decor and architecture was amazing. The room was a great size and not too warm despite no air con. The foyer area and bathroom were beautiful too. Location was great and everything was very easy. Would love to come back to Florence and would stay here again in a heart beat.

The only things that I didn’t like were: whilst the room was a fine temperature with just a fan, the ceiling fan was very noisy so we couldn’t sleep with it on. Also whilst we didn’t mind the shared bathroom, there were quite a few rooms using it so you had to wait a while to use it. Also, whilst this was fine for us, there were a lot of stairs so not very accessible for those who struggle with stairs/mobility.

The location is superb and the price was great (the main reason we chose this place even though it didn't have AC). You can walk to all the main sites in a few minutes. The room was large and accommodated the 5 of us well. The host was very friendly and informative. He told us about some good and cheaper places to eat, as well as a few less common sites to visit.

There was smoking in the facility though the bedroom we were in did not smell like smoke. Since the toilets are shared access, we did have to encounter the smoke. There were mosquitos in the area so we had to keep the windows shut at night, which made it a bit warmer than we would have liked for some of us but generally ok with the 3 fans in the room.

Location is perfect, interior inside is astonishing, it is historical building and every single detail is vintage, we loved that vibe so much, would like to specially mention the huge window wich impressed us the most. Room was very clean, shared toilet was not a problem, it was always well cleaned.

I can understand that putting AC on the wall wich is historical is not possible and it is okay, but it was very hot in the room, we didn’t even have small fridge to keep water bottles and get cold water, also there were not enough adapter plugs in the room, we couldn’t charge the phone and turn the fan off at the same time, so facilities are what didn’t like the most during our stay, little fridge is the must here, especially in the summer

We arrived late but the friendly hotel staff helped us check in and everything worked out excellent. The room has a very central location, huge room and the whole building is truly beautiful. The bed was very comfortable to sleep. The shared bathroom was clean and also practical to use but we also had a sink in the room which was helpful.

Something that didn’t bother my partner but for me the AC was a bit too noisy, even with earplugs. This probably doesn’t bother everyone but for those more sensitive it could be an issue. The room was very warm so we had to use it anyway. It would be great to have a breakfast as option too.

Excellent WiFi, great location, spacious room (#5) with a window. Good shared bathroom, right next to room. Very friendly owner, he phoned up to ask about a power pack of intentionally left behind for someone else to use. Also, there’s a fantastic record shop called Rock Bottom (Google the website) literally just around the corner.

Air con would have been handy but, for the price, no complaints. There were a few steps to get the entrance, but that’s not unusual in accommodation at this level, so no worries for me. I was buzzed by a mosquito, so may be wise to keep window shut in hot weather. Otherwise, no issues.

The location, the cleanliness and coziness of the place. The hotel is very central, about a 5-minute walk from the dome and within walking distance from any major tourist attraction, which is extremely convenient. The cleaning was done on a daily basis, so we would always come back to a freshly cleaned room, new towels and everything. The room itself was very comfortable. The shower was in the room itself and the toilet was out on the end of the hallway, but that wasn't really inconvenient for us, plus there was another toilet close to the kitchen. The hotel is pleasantly and tastefully decorated. Very good value for money overall.

Having to climb several stairs with our suitcases to get to the hotel was a bit of a bummer, as the building is quite old and doesn't have a lift. But that was only a small inconvenience.

First all, Vincent the owner/manager is the most friendly guy I've ever met during my one month trip in Europe. He started following up with me days before my arrival, checked on me upon arrival to make sure everything's fine, and he is always there to help if you have any questions. The location is very central, though not a short walking distance to the train station which is not a big problem, but you are really at the heart of Florence, all of the main attractions are just 5 to 10 minutes walk away. There are plenty of great restaurants around. The room is spacious, actually everything is spacious, the common lounge area, the dinning room,the bathroom, I was surprised for the price I paid which is just slightly higher than a bunk bed in the hostels of the same area I got a double room all for myself.

Absolutely nothing

Amazing hotel located just a few minutes away from Santa Maria del Fiore. The staff was very friendly and everything was clean and comfortable (the bathroom was also always clean). The building is very old (I believe from 16th century) and we were fascinated to stay in a hotel located in a building with so much history. We would love to return back once we visit Florence again

The only disadvantage was the shared bathroom - sometimes we needed to wait a bit to shower or for the toilet, however it was not a big deal. There are 3 bathrooms in total, so if one is willing to shower on another floor, it’s also possible.

Central location, old place, friendly and welcoming host. We requested a room towards the courtyard and it was very quiet. We were impressed with the cleanliness of the place and the bed was super comfortable. There was also ample space, also liked its historic ambience. It's basically 5 minutes walk from the cathedral.

The place has no air conditioner, only ventilators. We had the shared bathroom but it was large and super clean, so no issues with that (also the bedroom has a sink). You have to climb some stairs to get to the place.
