Fantastic hotel. A dream. Charming, personal, family run, rooms and house with history and details in the interior. I have traveled a lot and this I would say is one of the nicest hotels ever in a bigger city! High sense for service: Very nice and extremely helpful staff. To wake up with birds singing and a lovely little garden in a quiet nice area in Rome. Two minutes to sights and stunning views over Rome and close to walk into the centre. WE WILL BE BACK! The breakfast was also very good.

Breakfast was wonderful with its own dining area and outside tables. Hotel staff were really helpful and efficient. Location was great for getting to the Circus Maximus, Colesseum, and Forum area. The hotel was very quiet and restful; it was great to just relax.

The staff did such a wonderful job and the facilities are all so nice that there is only one thing I missed - a selection of local restaurants within walking distance. There are restaurants at the bottom of the hill and your associated restaurant around the corner, so we did not starve <smile>. But, that was a small price to pay for all the wonderful things about the Hotel Aventino. We would definitely come again.

The hotel has a wonderfully quiet location, but is within walking distance of the ancient sites.Decor and furnishings are first class, and the bed is firm and extremely comfortable. Although of minimal size, the bathroom includes a full size bath, and is well ventilated and lit. Breakfast is of good quality in an elegant room. The range of foods is appropriate to such a small hotel.

It is a simpler ( 3 star) hotel than the other one I used ( San Anselmo) in the same group and the room is smaller than the superior grade one I had at the other hotel. However ,it is about two thirds the price. The electronic control turned the air conditioning on when not requested.

I was moved to the hotel San Pio next door, (same owners) so this is a review for the "group" of hotels and specifically the san Pio. The room was comfortable, large windows and a balcony, the beds are firm and the room was very clean (I like that). Bathroom not the newest but functional and clean. The breakfast is good, good quality ingredients, but not a huge choice (salami, cheese, bread or crackers, jam/honey, joghurt, cereal, crostata, 2 kinds (very good), eggs, fresh fruit (excellent) juice and water and excellent coffee. Gardens are very nice. Parking is included, with limited number on site, and an "overflow" car park nearby (more on that below). There is also a restaurant on site. The booking.com description says "wired internet in rooms and wireless in lobby", but from my room on the second floor there was a excellent WiFi connection. Position is great as it is quiet, nice area, but only a 20 minute walk to the centre. The free parking is great to have, but if you care for your car, don't put it inside the hotel's space, as they are packed like sardines, and I woke to find on the last morning a nice car door dent which my rental company charged 300 euro for. This is of course not the hotel's fault, but if you have a nice car, ask to put it in their overflow car park in the "residenza lavernale" - it is close by and the spaces are fixed and wide, believe me, it is worth the slight extra hassle.

The restaurant is okay, some food was very good, but the vongole were so-so and the secondo di baccala was miniscule, literally about 40g of fish. I appreciated though that they found space for me at short notice.

Helpful staff on my arrival - gave me a good introduction to the hotel, The room was attractive and had a nice balcony. The hotel was well located for its proximity to the FAO.

The hotel was quite hard to find - not sure how this can be improved though. Also, information on dinner availability was a bit hit or miss; this hotel did not have dinner but some of its partner hotels nearby did - perhaps, but then one evening the hotel receptionist told me our own hotel had dinner that night - but there had been no information about this.

1) All hotel staff were lovely - friendly, helpful and efficient. Our afternoon flight was delayed and so we arrived quite late but the Manager brought up coffee and sandwiches to our room - made by himself and very much appreciated! 2) Location was further from main city centre attractions than we thought - approx 20-40 min walk. Very doable on first morning but by day 3 we were flagging. We got round this by booking taxi via Reception, longest wait was 3 minutes. Wished we'd done this from day 1! 3) Hotel had lots of charm and character, full of Italianate decorative features. It was also spotlessly clean, comfy beds, modern, well-appointed bathroom.

1) Missed having access to tea/coffee making facilities. Major pain at end of long, busy sightseeing days! Even if not suitable in rooms, perhaps guests could have access to basic setup in breakfast dining area? 2) No on-site dining. Had dinner twice at sister-hotel which was 5min walk away. Limited menu, didn't change over 5 nights we stayed.

Staff were very helpful and friendly. They arranged for a driver to pick us up at the airport and since we were too early to check in, they kept our bags and walked us to a neighboring hotel that was able to accommodate us for breakfast (their breakfasts were good too). The location was perfect for our needs. We were in walking distance to many fantastic restaurants and the Circus Maximus (we were going to a concert later in the week). We had a room with a little balcony overlooking the quiet neighborhood. The wall of honeysuckles lining the driveway were in bloom and smelled wonderful.

Nothing not to like.

Everything was perfect! All staff were exceptional. We had absolutely everything we needed: transfer from airport to hotel and back when we left, excellent breakfast, excellent coffee, amazing location. The front desk staff was absolutely sensational, providing us with the best transportation options, tours, and helping us in the most empathetic and familiar way with my sister 's accommodation and transfer without any prior reservations. They made us feel at home, even more, they pampered us by giving us everything we perhaps didn't even think but needed every moment of our stay there.

Nothing untoward to mention. Everything was perfect!

Staff was exceptionally attentive. As there was a strike the day before I left, I was musing about how to get a taxi to the airport and when I asked about a reservation the last day, I found they had already made one. They also packed me a breakfast and arranged the night before to have a waiter from the neighboring restaurant provide me with a glass of wine to drink in the delightful garden. When I asked I hadn't realized they didn't have a bar on premises but they got me the wine anyway. Great breakfast and lots of help with getting taxis during the strike.

Only issue was probably the location -- but although without cafes or restaurant choices, the Aventino neighborhood is very quiet and once I mastered Uber in Rome (never ask for the "cheapest taxi" as it will never come) I had no problem moving around.

I was transferred to a sister hotel VILLA SAN PIO. I loved everything. Room and bathroom were quite big and equipped with everything. It felt like a royal treat :) Loved the bathtub which also had a shower option with taps on two sides. Could have stayed longer if I could. Hotel in a very quiet place with lots of trees and seating area outside when taking breakfast

The cleaning lady. I thought it was disrespectful for her to murmur some thing when she saw me because she knew I couldn't understand Italian. The bedside surface had crumbs from the previous guest. Hotel charged me for asking for a taxi Breakfast could have more dairy free options
