Hotel Oceania

Started our Italian adventure in Rome and spent first four nights at Oceania. Perfect location, personable and helpful staff and very authentic vibe. Loved it! At the end of our Italian adventure we returned for our last two nights in Italy. Felt like coming home😊

Early risers. Wished we could get coffee a bit sooner. Breakfast could be a little more interesting - very standard with no protein. Fruit wasn’t very fresh. In our first room hard to find a place to hang a towel! Second room was bigger and very comfortable but a bit if street noise,

Perfect location about 10 min walk from train station (Roma Termini). Room for 3 was smaller than I expect. Hotel is situated in the part of the city where is also the Ministry of defense, so very safety location :-). Close to the hotel (downhill) is great bistro with menu 9Eur for pasta and 10Eur for pizza (drink and coffee included) with nice owner.

The staff is exceptional - you get a real bed-and-breakfast feel. They made us feel welcome and showed us places to eat and see on a map. We had to fly out at 6 in the morning, and they made sure we had transportation to the airport. I can not say enough nice things about Hotel Oceania - it was a wonderful place to end our tour of Italy.

We had a hard time understanding that it was not a hotel, and once we found the door to the building, we didn't understand to take the elevator, LOL! So if you get a chance to book this fantastic place know that you go in the front door past the stairs; on the left is an old elevator (totally safe) that you take to the third floor.

The location was perfect for getting to what we wanted. The staff was extremely friendly and made us feel welcomed. It had a very nice atmosphere, but if you are looking for a hotel chain feeling, this is not it. It's a small hotel and very quaint. It's romantic, and cultural.

The elevator is really slow. We only used it to bring our luggage up when we arrived, and down when we left. The stairs were quite a climb. We actually didn't mind the climbing, but others might. One big problem as that the hair dryer would only last 30 seconds at a time, and needed to cool off before continuing to use it.

We felt lucky to have snagged a room at the Hotel Oceania. We appreciated the quiet location and close proximity to the Termini train station. The hotel is elegantly decorated, with a warm, homey reception area and hallway. Our room was spacious, and we especially liked the comfy queen size bed and large windows. What we liked best, perhaps, were the owners of the hotel: Stefano and his wife. They were so friendly and hospitable. They made dinner reservations for us on the two nights we were in Rome; both excellent restaurants. They gave solid shopping recommendations for quality souvenirs, including aged balsamica. And they served us breakfast super early on our last morning, so that we would not have to dash to the airport on empty stomachs. We chose Hotel Oceania because of the location and affordability. We'll return to the Hotel Oceania because of the owners and amenities.

The hotel may be hard to miss if you're not paying attention because it is located on the 4th floor of a large, plain building with a small street sign. The lobby of the building is dark and not super welcoming. However, don't be put off by this. There is a lift with a sign that directs you to the hotel. Once you step out of the lift directly into the hotel, you're home.

Hotel Oceania is conveniently located and it took us appr. 20 minutes to walk to main tourist attractions. The staff were nice and friendly, hotel amenities were good. The interior is not modern which concerned me before the trip, but nothing was old or dated in the room, it was just fit to the style of the building which was very nice. What was also important for us, the air conditioner worked well (it was 35°C outside), so this was crucial! Shower was good, although lacked a rack to put shower gel/shampoo on (this is minor). There was also a lift to the 3rd floor where the hotel is located – it was in an old style and added to the overall impression of a typical building in Rome :)

Breakfast is continental (pastries, bread, jam, yoghurt, and fruits) with no hot meals. This was not a problem for us as it was so hot outside that we barely had appetite, plus we were aware of it beforehand as it is a common practice in Europe. However, someone with better appetite might have minded it :)

The rooms were elegantly appointed in an old world style. They were spacious and comfortable. I loved the extra common balcony, the common lounge rooms as well. The owner was friendly and we enjoyed speaking to him about owning such a beautiful hotel. It had a lift as well which came in handy.

The bathroom was tiny, which was fine. Maybe hooks on bathroom door would be great so we can hang towels. But that is a small thing. It didn't take away from the enjoyment of our stay.

Rooms very clean, beds comfortable, interesting retro decor in small boutique hotel. The staff were amazing, 24 hour desk with great suggestions for restaurants in walking distance. Rosemary and Timoty restaurant was fabulous. Great music. Farm to plate food, great service and very friendly. Special thanks at Oceania to Mario, Maurizio 1 and Maurizio 2 and Carla. Nothing to complain about. Ps included breakfast Italian style was a great bonus.

. .The hotel was lovely. The location was great. Stuff was very warm and friendly. Whatever we asked was responded with efficiency and a smile. It was very nice to come back everyday to the hotel that felt like home.

I know in Italy - Breakfast is like the one we got and as such it was O.K. But in many other countries this is not considered a breakfast maybe a small continental one. It repeated itself all 6 days we spend there. It it was based on bakeries mainly and it was quiet heavy for the morning. But again I know this is the system in Rome and as a typical breakfast it was O.K. The service was lovely and the cakes were super fresh and tasty.

This is an honest hotel with exceptional people working in it. Do not expect too much. The hotel occupies the whole floor in a not so much but still old building. Well, it is Rome after all. The guests use an elevator, which could be faster, but it is not a problem. Take your time, think of your plans or just relax and remember the moments that you had in the city. The room will let you have a good rest, the AC will keep the temperature at a nice level even when you are away in a burning hot city. The bathroom is good and will probably exceed your expectations. If you have a lot of gadgets, which need to be charged at night, then it may be a problem. Just prepare yourself for it, or talk to the staff. We didn't have any breakfast in the hotel during our stay, but there are enough places around where you can do it. The hotel is close to the subway station and the city center is in some 15-20 minutes away by foot.
