We had a terrific experience at Hotel Casa Virreyes. Before we arrived, their reservation specialist, Carolina, was able to successfully add a second night for us in the same room--for this, we were incredibly grateful! Hotel Casa Virreyes is in an amazing location very close to Plaza de la Paz, which is in the heart of the historic downtown. We drove to Guanajuato from San Miguel and were very happy to discover that the hotel had an unloading/loading area just across the street that guests can use for 10 minutes. Once inside the hotel, employees, David & Pedro, quickly and HAPPILY whisked our luggage and heavy cooler all the way up to the 3rd floor!!! Our room was spacious and clean and had great natural light. We had asked for an interior room because we knew that Guanajuato had a vibrant nightlife and we wanted to reduce our exposure to overnight noise. With that said, even our interior room received great daylight from a cleverly designed outdoor shaft situated between the rooms. Our housekeeper, Helena, was kind and helpful- she was even able to briefly unlock a door to one of hotel's terraces for us to enjoy some midday sunshine and take some super cool photos. Our bathroom was especially clean and spacious and all 3 people in our party were able to get hot showers back to back. I especially appreciated the large wall mounted makeup mirror in bathroom. Our check out was very smooth. I do think that it is important to note that Hotel Casa Virreyes has an 11:00 check out during their high season, even though Booking lists the check out time as 1:00 PM. There was a super lovely receptionist named, Berenice, who honored the 1:00 PM check out. It was also extremely helpful that the hotel has a very secure room for luggage. Berenice tagged and labelled our luggage and stored it from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM, so that we could go out for lunch before we departed the city. David and Pedro came through again by moving all of luggage to this secure room.

Hmmm-- Well, the only two very minor complaints that I have is that the beds were a bit hard, HOWEVER, with that said, we paid the equivalent of $75 USD per night for 3 people, so I wasn't expecting a high-end luxurious bed. I would, though, recommend that if you are traveling by car to Guanajuato that you consider bringing 1 or 2 LED lightbulbs, as the bulbs in our room were extremely blue and it would have been easy for us to briefly swap them with 2 LED bulbs that were slightly warmer in hue. This wasn't too terrible because we stayed out late both evenings and fell into bed rather quickly and didn't have the harsh blue lights on very long. Or bring a small reading light.

The Hotel is very clean. If you want to be close to the center this is the place to stay. Church bells ringing. You’ll hear the groups of people enjoying the city tours sometimes. You can walk to a lot of places. Stores and restaurants near by. We enjoyed hearing the sounds of the city. We booked the family room and it was big for our group of 4. It has room for 6 but only one bathroom/ shower.

Beds are a little hard. If you do Guanajuato right you’ll be so tired from waking the beds will not be a big deal. The rooms need some pictures or drawings on the walls . No Wi-Fi in the rooms.

My partner and I recently stayed at a conveniently located hotel in the heart of Guanajuato, and we had a delightful experience overall. The hotel's central location allowed us to explore the town easily, with the famous Basilia church right next door adding charm to our stay. The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive, making us feel at home from the moment we arrived. Our room was spacious and impeccably clean, providing a comfortable retreat after our daily adventures. However, there was one drawback—the church bells rang from 7 am until late at night, and even earplugs couldn't entirely block the sound, affecting our sleep quality. Despite this minor issue, we would recommend this hotel to those seeking a well-located and welcoming place to stay in Guanajuato.

Included Continental Breakfast was so welcome; juice, coffee, fresh bread and jams, yogurt, fresh fruits, granola, cereals. You can order ala carte for eggs and meats, etc. Room was very spacious for the three of us. Two beds. Wifi worked fine in rooms, better downstairs. Good tv for evening downtime. It was very quiet on an interior room; window to light well provided nice brightness to room, but curtains allowed us to keep the room cooler during the sunny day. The tall fan tower was efficient. My dog was happy, but the 350 pesos extra was an unexpected fee. nonetheless, I am always so grateful to hotels for accommodating us.

Beds need toppers. They are hard. Stairs might be difficult for some people -- I was fine.

The location is excellent, room is spacious , very clean and comfortable. Although it locates in the very central area, still very quite in the night,no problem with sleep. The breakfast is so good with fresh fruit. Staff are all very friendly and with professional service, and they are really helpful, thanks to Leonardo especially for solving our problem nicely, it is a great experience to stay here.

We don’t have time to stay longer.

The best thing about the property was the central location. The continental breakfast options were first class. Having Julieta attending the breakfast area made the service much more special. Julieta attend to even the smallest needs to make the breakfast a perfect experience. This is the cleanest room I’ve stayed in along time.

There was nothing.

Amazing location with a great view. Right next to the church and can hear/see the bell ringing from the windows. Also right next to a 24 hour clinic with doctors hours from 9am-9pm for any medical needs. The hotel is also right next to the main busy street so it is easy to catch a taxi or bus from there if needed, but it also means it can get loud. Staff was amazing and super accommodating, we felt safe and in good hands.

Only downside is there is no A/C. The two fans helped a little but not much. It can get really hot in the room which caused us to feel sick but we were given a third fan and slept with the windows open the rest of the nights which helped. The bad thing about having to sleep with the windows open is that it would get really loud with the cars that drive past.

Breakfast was good: fresh fruit, yogurt, granola, fresh bolillo rolls, natural orange juice and coffee. Additional items were available for a reasonable charge. The building is very pretty, the rooms are large. Friendly, attentive staff. The hotel was very clean throughout. Common areas were updated and tasteful. The location was hard to beat, right in the center of town.

The rooms are in need of updating. The light bulbs in the rooms were the bluish, cheap CFL bulbs that didn't fit in the fixtures and look terrible. It wasn't a problem for us but there are a lot of stairs to the 3rd floor, so be prepared. The worst part was the fact that the hotel is across the street from the basilica, where bells ring - loudly - to announce mass multiple times per day. Another bell rings the hour and fractions 24 hours a day, so all night rooms on the street side will hear the bells. Rooms on the other side have only a window into the hallway, so while they are quiet, they are quite dark.

Perfect location, good water pressure, clean and cozy bed, everything was perfect. They do not have air-conditioning system, but the do have a fan which works enough to stay. There is a coffee machine in the room, which was really helpful. Staff doesn’t speak english well, but we can use translation apps. They do all the best for help us as much as they can.
