Balcon Del Cielo

Balcon del Cielo is a little gem of a hotel. I love that it is located in the centre of Guanajuato but not directly in the centre. The funicular ride makes such a big difference as everything is accessible within 5 minutes. Breakfast was a lot - fruit, yogurt, granola, eggs, chilaquiles etc. The room was spotless and the towels smelled wonderful. Thanks to Valentin and the staff members.

The directions to the hotel. There are no street numbers etc. The easiest way to arrive by taxi is to go to the foot of the funicular, show the cashier your reservation and then approach it that way. I found the bed hard. When the balcony doors are open it is very noisy. Once closed it is fine.

- Amazing view - get the balcony room - Very convenient - a couple min to centro by funicular, which runs until 10pm at night - Plentiful breakfast room service - taste leaves much to be desired, but there’s a bit of everything (coffee, juice, pastries, fruits, yogurt and granola, two ”dishes” of your choice) - Housekeeping kept room very clean (they even cleaned some shot glasses we had on the table!) - Wifi was decently stable - we were able to work remotely and stream shows - No issues with hot water like other reviews had mentioned

- sound insulation within the hotel is bad, so sometimes woken up by other guests talking in their rooms/hallway

The view is excellent, and the location is very convenient, especially as a pass for the funicular is included. Breakfast was very generous and filling. Coffee available in the lobby in the morning was a nice touch.

Our room was directly behind the check in desk, and the bathroom vent window opened up onto the passageway leading through the building to the funicular, so it could be noisy at times (thankfully not at night). It took a VERY long time for the water to get hot enough to shower, and the sink didn't have any cold water service at all.

I booked this randomly not knowing the city and it was jack pot. We had rooms with small balcony overseeing whole Guanajuato and it was breathtaking. Funicular is right outside of our hotel that goes down to the city pretty quickly. Everyone has to pay it but not guests of Balcon del Cielo. Whole stay felt very personalized, you communicate your breakfast with front desk or via Whatsup, they bring it to the room. Guanajuato is very alive City, music is everywhere and even though we could hear whole town being alive during night from our room, when you close balcony doors, you really don’t hear the noise which is big bonus cause we wanted to go to bed befire midnight. Recommending highly this hotel

We spent two nights at the Balcón del Cielo. The room was clean and comfortable, and looked exactly as advertised. The staff was friendly and helpful. The most remarkable thing about the hotel is in my opinion its unbeatable location. The hotel is on top of a hill, and we could enjoy wonderful views of the beautiful city of Guanajuato from our own balcony, particularly at night and at dawn. Moreover, the hotel provided us with free access cards to the cable car, which allowed us to move between the hotel and the city centre in just a few minutes and easily enjoy all the museums, historical sites, shops and restaurants the city has to offer. It was a really great stay.

Amazing location. Right next to the funicular and the view is amazing. We can see the whole city from our room. The room is so big. I love this. We also have breakfast send to our room every morning. Even if the lady told us breakfast is 9-10am but we still get our breakfast earlier because we asked for earlier. Really nice staff and experience.

Noise level. I can hear the noise of bars down hills but that’s not controllable. Highly recommend bring good pair of earplugs.

we loved the amazing panoramic view from our room. loved having breakfast in our room to make amazing view in the morning and having a drink at night to the picturesque scene in front of us.

We didn’t like that the funicular was available up to 9:45pm. when we were down down in the center we had to cut our nights short a couple times to make it on time because if we didn’t we had to walk, more like hike, up to get to the room or catch a cab to take us near the hotel in which we still had to walk and find our way to the hotel.

Has to be that view!! Clean, friendly staff and attentive owner on the premises. Breakfast in bed!!

No motorcycle parking on premises, hotel offers taxi rides to safe parking location. Need to carry luggage up and down steep steps but it’s worth it! can be noisy at times with people hiking up to monument, still amazing stay. No AC

I booked this hotel because of the view, but got much more. The staff was super friendly and helpful and the breakfast was great. I felt very safe and comfortable as a solo traveler. Loved the free funicular pass to get the the city center. Great stay overall.

Beautiful view, really nice room and comfortable. Staff were really nice, the lady in the morning speaks good English. Remember to order your breakfast the night before.

Finding the place, my Uber driver dropped me at the bottom of the furnicula and I had no idea where I was going. Go to the ticket office and show them your reservation and they'll take you up.
