Las Terrazas is a beautifully restored walled property in a quiet urban setting at the uphill edge of San Miguel’s historic Centro. Our hosts and owners, Rocky and Gwen were extremely gracious, accommodating, and hospitable, welcoming us not as guests but as longtime friends and inviting us into their home. Their passion for this place is evident everywhere, from the well-manicured garden and outdoor and rooftop sitting areas to the comfortable furnishings and décor. Our casita was comfortable, bright, clean, and nicely furnished in the local style with an adjacent outdoor patio. Our casita included a small hotel-style kitchen with a coffee maker, microwave, and refrigerator. Breakfast is ordered the day before selecting from a small menu offering a wide variety of food, fruit, and juices. Wonderfully prepared food selections are placed in the refrigerator for a delightful self-serve breakfast in the casita. Visiting with Rocky each morning led to fantastic recommendations for places to visit, sights to see, area walks, and restaurants (including reservations), giving us a greater knowledge, from the locals' point of view, of this fantastic town. Due to weather, our stateside airline connection was missed delaying our arrival by a day; I called Rocky as soon as I could and told him of our delay - Rocky simply pushed our reservation forward, extremely accommodating. Not wanting to leave we extended our stay at this first-class accommodation.

The owner is a "retired" Oregonian who has turned a dream of a house on the most beautiful hill of San Miguel de Allende into a paradise hotel. The beauty of the place alone is worth the stay. INternet was superb, but because I work with it, he was kind to provide me with a second service just in case this one went down (it did not!). Breakfast was fabulous, the room had absolutely everything one needs including a private chimney. The walk to town is amazing (a few blocks) and as it is on a hill, it provides a good exercise (I am 72!). The owner and his wife, of course, speaks perfect English and Americans will feel right at home. Even the TV was set up with the US channels. Pretty amazing!

Wow! That's the first thing that comes to mind when describing Las Terrazas. From the minute I booked I knew we had made the right choice. Before booking we read some of the reviews and that really convinced us, and after that it just got better. The communication was terrific between Rocky and myself right from the get go. We actually arrived in SMA a few days before our booking started and were staying with friends when we happened to walk by Las Terrazas. We rang the bell and Rocky greeted us warmly and informed us that no one was there the night before we were checking in and offered us an early check in. Who does that? Once we checked in our daily routine was something like - Hey Rocky and Gwen, what are we doing today? And they would help us plan out our days. Always great, always fun. Oh, and not to mention how nice our room was. We stayed in Grillo 2, which was super comfortable. The outdoor space was lovely, the living area cozy, and the breakfast nook perfect for our needs. Rocky and Gwen do something different for breakfast - which is deliver it to your fridge the night before so that whenever you get up you can eat at your leisure. What an awesome idea! That way you don't have to wake up at a specific time and worry about what your hair looks like. Las Terrazas is super convenient and only a few blocks from the Centro. Rooftop deck is amazing to sit and chill. Also, not to be minimized - the whole place has filtered water, so no worries about drinking from the tap (which we did!) and brushing your teeth. Anyhow, this place is amazing and we'll definitely be back! Thanks so much for an awesome stay Rocky and Gwen!

The hosts, Rocky & Gwen, were perhaps the best I’ve had in over 50 years by of frequent travel. They were incredible in helping us when a 4 hour late flight caused us to arrive the day reserved. When one of us became sick, they arranged a doctor’s in room visit. They were kind, efficient and the property is simply gorgeous, decorated in a Mexican style. Our suite was beautiful, quite spacious and comfort! The breakfasts were superb and the staff excellent!

Nothing.

it’s close to the center of town. very easy to get there. very safe and quiet. it’s like a little apartment. nice patio to sit out front. very nice view of the city if you go all the way up to the rooftop. very beautiful place. love the free breakfast. also it’s brought to you everyday. Rocky is a great host. very friendly. he explained everything to you and give you great suggestions on where to go and eat. the housekeepers are great too. I would definitely stay here again. I also strongly recommend Rocky’s place for anyone who comes to visit San Miguel de Allende.

the internet a little slow but no big deal.

The owners take great pride and the responsibility of operating a firsst class resort in every detail. They went out of their way to assist with any problem I might have. The location, tastefully furnished apartments, internet, landscape terraces, quietness assures a rewarding stay for all. I have since recommended this resort to other friends planning a trip to S. Miguel de Allende

Honestly, I cannot think of anything I would change or could be done better.

Gwen and Rocky have perfect place to stay! They are very kind and willing to help with any questions that you may have. We lived in Casa Colibry and it has everything that you need - fireplace, kitchen, balcony with small fountain, very comfortable bed, hairdryer, medical kid - honestly everything! And the most impressive - they have very big common terrace with marvellous view 😍 This place is amazing inside and has very good location - a little bit hard to go back from the centre (quite high hills) but you can take a taxi. Rocky helped us also with parking place. So if we will come back to SMA - we’ll stay only in this perfect place

Great location with a short walk to Jardin Allende and Zona Centro. Buena Vista lookout patio, at Las Terrazas, has great view of the city and beyond. Casa Mariposa was comfortable and beautifly decorated with a large private patio affording guests shady and sunny lounging. Top notch service and care provided from our hosts Rocky and Gwen, at the top, through housekeeping and and maintenance team.

No complaints

The place is absolutely gorgeous! It does not look like a hotel from the outside. Once you enter the property you see how magnificent the whole place is. We stayed at Grillo 2. Our room looked more like a tiny little apartment. It had a beautiful patio, a small living room, a dining room and a kind of kitchenette. The bedroom was big, bright and beautifully decorated. The bed was wide and very comfortable. We slept soundly every night. The area is nice and quiet. The bathroom was big and had more towels that we could use. Wifi worked well the whole time. Breakfast was delicious and you have several options to choose from. The hotel has a stunning view of the city from the terrace. Rocky, the host, is the best! He helped us a lot when I had to shorten our stay. Rocky was very kind and understanding of our situation. He came to check on us after our first night and gave us many tips about where to go and how to move around. Our stay was really magical. We hope we will be able to come back soon!

It was quiet, but still close enough to easily walk into the center or to a restaurant. It's easy and cheap enough to get a taxi if you don't want to walk. We enjoyed having breakfast brought to us. It's a beautiful property and our casita was very comfortable. Also, the owner was always available to help us with whatever we needed, including a ride to and from the airport. I thought it was pretty much the perfect place to stay in San Miguel!

Not really anything. A yoga mat would have been handy to stretch out on after all that walking. :)
