The Lancaster Hotel Amsterdam

Property was in a great location can ride the tran a couple stops into the centre or it is around 20/30 min walk. Or like us on a sunny day we rented bikes from the hotel (16 euros per day) and cycled around. The hotel was very spacious, was very clean the housekeepers came every day even if you didn’t leave your room until around 1pm. Overall I can’t complain about this hotel, most hotels in Amsterdam are in this price range if not more therefore I found this good value for money and would stay again. There is a nice breakfast spot a couple doors down called Box Social which is nice for some brunch with very friendly staff. Also, a highlight from our trip was visiting Foodhallen (Our West) has amazing food deffo worth checking out!!

It was very easy to reach from the Central Station. You can get a train from the airport to central station and then a tram to the hotel. The stop is only a block away.

The room was a little small.

Location was brilliant, very convenient for transport, the zoo, some bars etc.

Staff were incredibly friendly. Very clean rooms and everything is nice. The hotel is located in a lovely neighborhood and on the tram line. We walked to all attractions in Amsterdam, but we walk a lot!!

Rooms and bathrooms are small - very European. There was no air conditioning in our room, which was difficult during the 90 degree plus days. It is not unusual to not have a/c in Europe, and the heat was unusual; however, for over $200 for a 2-person room, air conditioning would be nice.

My pet chihuahua and I did enjoy the comfort of the room we booked, it was tinier than I'm used to, but the comfort level of the room was great. My pet enjoyed her stay and the guys working at the hotel were very kind and helpful and accommodating about my dog. The location is amazing as its right opposite the zoo and the Artis tram stop, definitely will come again with my dog on our next euro trip

There were some candy wrappers and dirt in corners of the room. And the bathroom could be done up better- for example condiments like shower gel, shampoo and conditioner and smell spray for the bathroom. The windows in our room also seemed like they'd fall off its hinges if opened (we did try and it almost fell off so we locked it up again).

Nice beautiful hotel, nice decoration and good atmosphere, Twin room are large enough, good bedding and very clean. WIFI is good Breakfast buffet is nice if included in the price. Otherwise is it is 19eur which is quite expensive The hotel is 25min walk to the AMS main train station and same to Leidseplein. Tram station in front of hotel. Surroundings of hotel are quiet and ok but 10-15min walk is needed to find more restaurants and bars. Value for money is good for Amsterdam

Soundproof between rooms is not the best but was globally very quiet

It's a nice hotel in a great neighborhood. Right across the street is ARTIS with a great zoo, a planetarium, many great restaurants and a trolley that takes you to downtown Amsterdam is 10 minutes. This hotel ha a beautiful new lobby with a small convenience store.

There are a lot of steps up to the lobby. Amsterdam has not worried about air conditioning much, but with global warming it is becoming a concern. The lobby is air-conditioned, but nothing else. The first room they gave us on the 4th floor was hot, at least 85 degrees with nothing but a small fan. We got moved to the basement which was much cooler.

The hotel is located near to the zoo , we had parrots and other birds flying near to our window . The staff was friendly , we had fresh towels and water every day . The breakfast was good . Tram station nearby , if you need .

We had "special circumstances" during our stay there , so in normal cases the following will not apply :) - We stayed during the Metallica concert , so the prices were very very high ( but all the hotels in Amsterdam increased the prices for that period ) - Due to the some personal health problems we had to spend more time in the room than usual , so we had to use the TV . The existing one was not a Smart TV , so we did not have access to platforms like netflix , hbo , or something like that . So , that could be an improvement . But , like I said , these are not real problems , it was just bad luck for us :)

I liked about everything at this property. This property is an a very calm and quiet environment and we didn’t hear any noise at night during our three nights stay.The staff was very kind and helpful. At arrival we were lucky and had a free drink and upgraded room. Who needs more? The most appreciated what is the staff because of their kindness, helpfulness every day. Also available was vegan yogurt at breakfast which was much appreciated. For vegetarians there were different kinds of cheeses available in the morning but I cannot tell you if the cheeses were 100% vegetarian or not. Sorry for that. no parking at the property but parking very close by and reasonably prized. what I really didn’t like and validfor multiple days was the lack of freshness of the salads and the tomatoes. The rest of the breakfast was OK for the price paid at 17,50 euro per person.

Great location. 30 minutes walk into the centre or an easy tram journey. Next to the park/zoo and lots of cafes and bars nearby. We had a standard room on the 3rd floor which was small but perfectly fine for a few days. We had a lovely view and, although there was some noise outside, we were able to keep the window open and let the fresh air in without being kept awake. The bed was very comfortable and there was a good shower.

The bar was closed one night due to lack of staff. Quite a big group of us were staying and we specifically booked someone that had a bar for us to meet up/have a nightcap. There was no apology for this even though they could see if was an inconvenience for us. At this price point they really should ensure that they have someone on site that can manage the bar. The breakfast was really expensive so we didn't book. There are lots of good options really close by but, again, as there was a big group of us it would have been good to eat at the hotel.
