Novotel Christchurch Cathedral Square

The staff were the best staff we have encountered in ages. They pro-actively engaged us when we were walking thru the foyer, asked if we were looking for good coffee stops whilst out etc. (Fabian) actually stopped on the street outside the hotel to check on our directions. Other staff over the 4 days came up to us when we were waiting in the foyer, the restaurant staff were delightful & proactive. We thought perhaps this is a CHCh thing but realised that if it is then wow that's some standard they have set for themselves. We don't normally compete these surveys but both really appreciated staff being on the front foot & genuinely so. Well done

The shower rose (on the slider) was crap, wouldn't stay up & kept on sliding down. It was a real pain.

Great location. Friendly helpful staff . Shanti on front desk was very customer focused and welcoming. As was another man , who was there too outside and on front desk , didn’t catch his name unfortunately. Good stay.

Loud fridge made a few strange noises in the night. Unplugged it. For some reason a breakfast had been added to the bill when we went to check out, we didn’t have breakfast there, it may have just been a mistake. Told them wasn’t ours and they removed with no fuss. Minor issues really I suppose. Overall was a good stay.

Fanatastic location one minute walk to the Tramway and City Centre, we had views of the Cathedral from the Square. Christchurch has great shopping with a number of restaurants to select from.

We found the entry to the car park very confusing as we could not work out how to enter and exit into the hotel, it looks like you are driving onto the Mall space. There could be bigger signage as we missed the signs where to enter the hotel and had to go around the block and still found it difficult to underrstand where were suppose to drive to. The door to the bathroom was a litle tricky and we had locked ourselfs out and had to go down to the front desk to get a bit of thin metal to lift up the lock to reopen the door.

Location is prefect as it is just walking distance to the city center Room is clean and Bedding is comfortable. Especially the large LCD TV provide endless entertainment. Shower is good

Only the parking is not free as compared to others. The Parking is Divide into 2 types. 20 NZ for unlimited parking reserved by the Hotel which is share by the public. If there is not available, the Hotel Offer Valet parking at 35 a day.

I forgot my phone charger. Even though the wireless charger in the room didn't work, reception was kind enough to deliver a cable to the room - along with extra milk and our uber eats order. Enjoyed having a free mini bar in the execute room. The chromecast was helpful. Beds comfortable and room was quiet. Love the location too.

Wireless charger on the lamp didn't work. Sink outside the bathroom is a little odd.

We relied on room service a lot and it was poor, food was ok, but often not hot, usually not on two plates even though it was obvious two people were ordering food, had to ask for two napkins, two sets of silverware, etc. Delivery people were nice and it was obviously not their fault. Eggs were either undercooked (raw whites) or overcooked and cold. Dinner the same, often cold when delivered.

The breakfast was great- Good variety and very nice I found the pillows too fat and firm for me but there was a pillow menu and a lovely staff member brought my pillow request straight up on the second night of my stay.

I found the air conditioning loud - slept with it off the first night bc too loud, then the room became quite stuffy so put up with the sound the second night

excellent location with library access for the kids. very close to town hall for the chch marathon and excellent eateries nearby

the wait for the shuttle and the mix up! a smaller car arrived rather than a shuttle. We were told there was no shuttle operating on Sundays, only for the Shuttle to contradict this. We just made it to the airport, after the staff had to ring the shuttle as a last resort. Then we were told, we needed to pay cash and not eftpos ( if staff had told us, then this would've saved time again)

The hotel is gorgeous, the staff super professional and friendly, and the executive room was huge, with great views over the city and a free minibar. It was heaven! And the location is perfect to visit Christchurch.

Nothing. The cathedral is still being rebuilt, which somewhat spoiled the view, but that's not the hotel's fault.
