Colombo In The City

This was our second stay in Christchurch during our holiday and it turned out to be so much better than the first place. Beautifully presented room with heaps of space and everything that you could need. The staff were extremely helpful and the location was great, just a 10 minute walk in to the centre of the City. 10 out of 10.

There was nothing to dislike.

Comfortable big bed. Lovely and quiet. Really appreciative that we could have our small dog stay the night too. We stayed there 14 years ago and were stoked to coincidentally stay in the same room this time. Heating was inadequate for the time of year. Put heater on when we went out at 2.30pm and when we got back at 7pm it wasn't warm enough despite the high temperature we put it on. Bathroom heater really smelly when on as if it is burning dust so had to turn it off straight away.

The shower drain isn't fixed in place so the cap slid around the shower. The shower head is fixed to the wall and is great for short people but terrible for us who are tall.

Room was clean, close to city, king size bed was good. Also had sky t.v which was good.

No window in bathroom so steamed up when using shower, there was a fan and heater but not enough to do much, we have double checked before we arrived that parking is guaranteed, we left for about 20 minutes and arrived back to no parking, we called reception and was told its to late for them to do anything and we will need to park on the street (there is meant to be 1 park per a room) specially booked this place as they promised parking so this was super disappointing. Not even an apology unfortunately.

This was a great surprise. The room was extra large with a king bed, a single bed, two large armchairs, a round table and 2 chairs and a fully operational kitchen with all the utensils you’d ever need. When booking a Motel (as opposed to Hotel or even an Airbnb) I was expecting a standard small room with an ugly door. This place has a beautiful, wide sliding glass door with a small flower arrangement in front and a couple of chairs outside it if you cared to sit there. Plus all the goodies inside. Great option. 10-15min walk to downtown. Easy.

The room was quiet. Loved the armchairs it is very rare that you go to a motel and the chairs are comfortable to sit in. There was plenty of room to move.

The villa had a smell to it. My husband didn't notice it as much, but my daughter also noticed it when she came to visit us. There was an elderly man trying to get into our room on the first morning that we were there, my husband made a joke that he got confused as to where his room was. We then got a phone call just after 10 to say we should have left, even though we had 2 more nights accommodation booked, so obviously some confusion there.

The location couldn't be faulted and it was very handy. Bus services either on Colombo Street, or Salisbury Street just a hop step and a jump away. Walked to Manchester St to catch other bus services.

Nothing springs to mind as the room was serviced every day and the Manager/Owner and the staff were good to deal with. Keep on doing what you are doing as you are doing it well!

Excellent location. Very comfortable bed. Clean and well serviced room, with nice toiletries. We appreciated the tea/coffee and milk being refreshed daily.

The room we had lacked a good place to sit down and eat a meal, although the chairs were comfortable for relaxing in. The room was well sound proofed from the road, however we were aware of the noise from above as we were in a ground floor unit.

The location was good. The property was immaculate and very well maintained. Our room was made up daily, and we got fresh towels daily. The room had been really well thought out, and had everything you needed.

The WiFi was a bit hit and miss. The shower took a lot of adjustment to get right, then kept going cold, and boiling hot. Was not keen on the wet room idea of the shower, would have preferred a separate cubicle.

Immaculately clean..great extras..make-up remover wipes, toiletries etc. WiFi super. Convenient location to city and victoria street. Comfortable beds and extra TV upstairs proved handy. All mod cons..nice shower, fluffy towels. I'd definitely come back.

Didn't like 10am checkout on a Sunday but apparently that's a normal kiwi thing so can't blame hosts for that. Nothing negative to say.

Very comfortable and great location for easy walking into the CBD. Peaceful and restful with a great night's sleep in a super cofortable bed. Would happily stay again in the cooler months of the year.

I struggled to get a stable wifi connection and ended up using my phone's personal hotspot instead. Very comfortable for the cooler months with a heater in the room - I'd possibly not stay here in a hot summer as there was no air-con.
