Hotel St Clair

It was a comfortable studio apartment. There were two restaurants in the hotel (one open for breakfast and lunch and the other open for dinner). The restaurant open for breakfast and lunch gave a 10% discount if you were staying in the hotel. There were other restaurants just down the street as well. The promenade and beach were right across from the hotel. The beach was a nice long one too. They also had on site parking that was free. The Octagon was less than 15 minutes by car and Larnach Castle on the Otego Peninsula was 20 minutes away. We enjoyed our stay there very much!

The hotel is set in a fantastic location, right next to the beach. The staff were great upon our arrival and our room was excellent. We had a nice ocean view from the balcony, the room was clean and well appointed. Our bed was very comfortable and the shower was good. There was onsite parking available and a few nice restaurants and cafes nearby. We were given complimentary tickets to the heated seawater pool about 150m from the hotel which we made use of. It was easy to get to the Otego Peninsular, the Albatross Centre and central Dunedin.

The view and size of the room was awesome, staff were friendly and accommodating. Close to the salt baths and a little playground, also good handful of shops just down the road. Being able to just look out at the beach so close up from the balcony is amazing.

Thought the room is a bit dated for the price. I would expect a more modern TV and TV size, the bar fridge was freezing our items, so again for the price point a refresh of these room items wouldn't be expensive, and is probably needed.

Entering the room we were captivated by the warm as it was freezing outside and the views were incredible out to the Pacific Ocean. Ocean is right there. Magnificent. Opening the huge sliders and the booming of the ocean reminded us how small we actually are in this world and respect was given. Early morning rise watching locals get about there day. We watched as we had our coffee a surfer brave the surf, another swimmer taking a quick dip as the ocean literally swallowed him up. Heaps of places to eat and to drink. Loved the Italian place which was a short stroll. Wud definitely return to 406. Parking was ease and lift to our floor.

The location of the hotel is absolutely superb. Lovely cafes, Restaurants and a few lovely shops within walking distance of the hotel. The hotel itself is very clean and comfortable with modern amenities. The staff were very friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. We were very lucky to get a lovely sea facing studio which was a generous size with a very comfortable bed and lovely lounge and dining furniture. The view from the large sliding window to the sea across the road was just superb. We loved being able to watch the surfers in the mornings, walk along the beach front and then go to one of the lovely cafes for divine coffee and beautiful food.

Fantastic location. Studio apartment was generally spacious and comfortable with a great view. It was nice to stay somewhere with full housekeeping services and friendly housekeeping staff.

The basin in my bathroom was not draining and this was not attended to on the second day after asking. Front desk staff were rather nonchalant and unconcerned about my needs and offered no help with restaurant information. The shower water ran out over the bathroom floor. Generally the bathroom was needing attention.

Lovely spacious comfortable room. View of houses rather than the beach but it was OK. Loved the bath.

Felt a bit like a criminal at check in. They took so many precautions to make sure I wasn't going to rip them off. I also didn't like the method of paying tips in the restaurant. The meal was not cheap but I didn't mind because the food and service was excellent. However, when it came time to pay, the first thing which comes up on the screen is about paying a tip. Quite offputting for a New Zealander who expects staff to be paid properly and not rely on tips.

The great location right on the foreshore. clean comfy bed. The bathroom was nice but mould us showing in the tile grout all over and needs a very good clean. small kitchen area was good, cooked toast and had cereal in the mornings. love TiTi restaurant on the property Wow it was a fantastic night! when our room was serviced and on arrival day there were two coffee sachets on the day of service they put only two more back so I went to counter for more and got another fresh milk. The girl was. very helpful and always smiling. St Clair is a great spot to stay just out of the city. Highly recommend.

Had an Ocean View Executive Room this time! Again a super comfy King sized bed! The room had a great view over the ocean.

Unfortunately a major storm came in the night of our stay and we had a noisy window with the ferocious wind that could not be completely shut because the handle had already broken off before our arrival. The Night Manager came and did a great repair job as best as he could. He said he would have moved us to another room if he could but they were fully booked (due to Otago Uni graduation week). As we had been upgraded in our stay a week earlier we forgave them otherwise we would have expected a partial refund for the inconvenience caused!

A superb location on the 3rd level overlooking the beach from 2 sides of our corner apartment. Bella was very welcoming and helpful. Parking underneath was easy (even though not guaranteed that a space would be available for us). Nice (though not large) living space with a fabulous view, and large wraparound balcony (whose space might be better used in the living space indoors). Sky Sport was a bonus so we could watch the cricket. (Too many venues advertise cable TV but essentially mean "bring your own" - which almost always does not work for international travellers.) Good storage space so could unpack comfortably for the 3 nights.

The wifi worked but was seriously wimpy, and insecure (really need to password the network). The kitchenette was so small we had to reorganise the superfluous stuff to the top of cabinets to be out of the way. Only 2 glasses, 2 cups, 2 bowls, etc provided so constantly washing up (for a 3 night stay) to recycle the same pieces. The only table/desk was too small to be usable for 2 people. These reduced the value for money proposition ...
