Pukekura Motor Lodge

Close to Pukekura Park and close to New Plymouth city. Quiet/ no noise from main road as windows are all double glazed. Excellent blinds/curtains so we were able to sleep well at night as room dark. Very clean. Head housekeeper/stand in manager Shaylee responded promptly to our request to get TV going so we could watch the news. She was friendly and welcoming which made me feel that I wasn’t just a number. Plus with her being a local she was able to advise us regarding local directions etc. Being environmentally conscious, it was pleasing to see NZ made bathroom soaps/ hand lotion and fair trade complementary teas, coffees and hot chocolates.

No dislikes. Suggestion : a central recycling bin on site to put recycling and also a central compost bin to put fruit skins or vege scraps

Check in was quick and professional. We were upgraded from a studio with kitchenette unit to a family room, this was located down the very end away from the roadside. The room & appliances were modern and it had everything you needed + more. We enjoyed a cooked breakfast which they delivered to our room at the time requested. We were impressed with the standard of cleanliness. If we’re ever back in New Plymouth again we most definitely will stay here.

The room was tidy and well kept and had all the basic and extra facilities that make a great stay. The staff were happy and easy to speak to about issues and were very welcoming.

One minor issue that we received while staying was a short outage from the sky system due to connection to signal issues between the sky box and the satellite. This was the only issue with the property, everything else was excellent

Our welcome from the manager was very cheerful and friendly.

We were most disappointed with the uninvited guests (lots of ants!) that got into our food, and that we saw entering via the entrance doorway. Sadly, we know how difficult it is to control such pests, but believe eradicating these pesky pests is something that management should consider to protect the return of guests in the future. They tarnished our stay and would definitely be a strong reason not to stay again in the future. A can of fly spray dIdn't cut it with us!

Very comfortable room. Great location within easy walk of Pukekura Park for Festival of Lights. Very good Aircon on a hot, humid day!

Had to cover the microwave digital display as it lit up the entire room. Bathroom floor got quite wet, seems the shower doesnt quite drain the right way.

Staff were so amazing and lovely they allowed for us to check in early as we had travelled with baby and weather wasn’t great. Location was perfect close by to the city centre and the netball courts as we were there for a netball tournament. Rooms were very clean and spacious, we had the 2bedroom unit and was perfect for our family. Had all the amenities we needed. And sky tv and tvs in each room was a bonus too!

Beds were way to soft for our liking ( personal preference as we prefer firmer beds 😊) and we found some strands of hair belonging to a previous guest on our covers. So might need to do thoroughly inspections when cleaning beds.

Spacious room. Excellent service from staff. Pleasant outlook. Having a daily paper delivered to the room. Comfy bed and spotlessly clean unit. We would book there again.

This is not really a criticism but the light was poor in the kitchenette area and we had to switch on lights for the whole unit when a small light in the kitchen area would have been enough. Just a suggestion.

Rooms were really clean and well maintained, bed was comfy. We stayed in a studio apartment and they were located at rear of property and were quiet. The lodge is located on quite a busy street so I am not sure if front units would be affected by road noise which is minimal at night but obvious worker commute and local high schools made it quite busy from 7am onwards.

Handy location, if you have a car. Close to CBD but more of a suburban location ( It is a Motor Lodge after all.) Rooms good size, beds very comfortable, shower toilet and facilities very good.. Management very good.

The booking wasn't able to be cancelled once made. Our plans changed and we had to leave early. However I knew this when I made the booking so I can't portray this as a negative but it's always a an extra benefit if you have the ability to cancel even before arrival at the place.

We stayed in one of the two-bedroom apartment, it was very spacious and had everything we needed for a weekend away from home. The kitchen was well equipped and cleanliness excellent. The free use of the laundry services was an extra bonus. The receptionist on arrival was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The motel is in a good location close to the city centre. I would definitely stay here again.
