Rotorua Hideaway Lodge

Clean room, and the room looks new. We were upgraded to the newer room and the room was great with all facilities new. We could see lama, chicken and sheep from our room. Compond is big and you could take a leisure walk at the estate. Countdown Supermarket is nearby. My kid was fascinated by the 2 chickens roaming outside our room.

The quality of the shampoo and shower gel in the toilet could be better. Could also supply more bottles especially if there are a few guests in the room. Toilet is nice though.

Clean, friendly staff & very accommodating. Great play area for my 1-year-old, and a bonus with the Alpacas or Lamars and the chickens - Great novelty for the young ones. They were very understanding and accommodating with my slightly late payment, and did not cancel my booking. I am so grateful for that. Thank you so much, Hideaway Rotorua Motel.

We stayed 3 nights. Had to ask for clean bathroom laundry the next day, but the host was very apologetic and supplied straight away. But they got it right the next day. However, the 2 rubbish bins did not get empty. I would recommend they include the laundry times in their booklet or on the door. I would have loved to have had an iron in the room, as there was nothing (but very minor detail). But otherwise, I really enjoyed the affordability of this great accommodation. Very well presented and welcoming complex just on the main road heading into Rotorua. Convenient for a host of activities and shopping facilities. Room we had, a deluxe King Studio, was immaculately clean and tidy and gave the overall impression of being recently refurbished. Very well equipped, especially for us who like to prepare most of our own meals. Just enough kitchen equipment, nothing more than that, but was all that we needed. Nice gardens and paddocks with sheep and Alpacas, and a good playground for children. Air con in rooms was a welcome addition. All in all, very good indeed and we would most certainly come back. Excellent value for money.

The room was regularly cleaned and we were provided with fresh towels, the location suited our stay as it was close to the event we were attending, this made getting to and from the event easy. I liked the location as we didn't get the strong sulfur smell that you get closer to town and was a nice outlook every day looking over the small paddock with the animals, there was friendly chicken that would come past our door every day.

We noticed that when all of the units were occupied the hot water system struggled to keep up with the amount of people it needed to cater for as the shower wouldn't keep a constant warm flow. When there were less people the hot water flow was fine.

This is a great value accommodation for the money. The rooms are exceptionally clean and well-appointed. Parking is directly in front of your unit. Lots of local travel information is provided. Wishing 1-2 km of lots of "adventure" activities and Skyline Gondola and about 11-12 minutes from Rotorua city center. There is a playground for kids and grassy area for them to run around on. For adults, it is not a destination in itself. It is a high-value, clean, and comfortable place to stay while you sample the pleasures and sights of Rotorua.

The photos didn't show the pavement expanse between some of the units and the playground/field but that is a minor point. The lodge is on a busy highway but we were not bothered by highway noise.

Great staff, our room and laundry facility were terrific. I truly recommend this location and wish every place was this nice! The landscaping, grounds and playground were all well done, with animals to view a sweet treat. This gem is a quiet location and nice family place for children to run and play freely, safely (loved the sandbox!)

Only a small bit of road noise by heavier trucks sometimes as we were in unit close to the road, which did require use of stairs. I think newer area units don't have stairs and are away from road.

The pet farm animals were really a nice touch! The older kids enjoyed the play area even if some of the structures were old. Near the world’s longest Luge, Zorb and other activities too. Front desk guy Ajay was helpful with recommendations etc.

Our unit was on the older wing due to pax numbers, and also next to the road so I could hear the big trucks passing all through the night. So in that sense wasn’t the most comfortable but definitely a better location without the sulphur lake smell, compared to the typical brand hotels at the centre.

The highaway is a excellent place for family. Heaps of room for the kids to play around in nd you do not have to worry about the road as it is a little bit off the road.. You are able to let the kids go to playground and you are able to see the kids from your room. Highaway is so close to all the activities that rotorua has for you. Highaway is so grwatl we have booked 4 rooms for Christmas fir a week. The day we were going home the kids were not happy all wanted to stay. So thank you highaway for the lovely holiday away with the family. So if you want a family holiday get going to highaway. Also the kids loved the animals. Also it was wonderful to see my children playing with our moko's. We need more places like this. The room are very clean and heaps of room to move around in. So thank you highaway again see you all again at Christmas. My moko's loved the chicken's coming to the rooms in the morning.

Liked the comfort of the beds, it was tidy, was pretty cold though so we left the heat pump on majority of our stay as i have a 5 month old. Liked how our apartment had a bath as well as not many do, as my kids only like the bath so we used that to our advantage also. Its a good place to stay at very calming nature to it! Of it wasnt raining the whole time during our stay my children would have lived at the park haha.

The bbq situation. It got all wet because of the rain so we werent able to use it, maybe some more shelter and our outside light didnt work so we couldnt see where the steps were as we were coming up from the new apartment section & was scared we may slip while holding our baby.
