Luna Hotel da Oura

very pleased with our stay. rooms were spacious and clean. Pool always had sun beds available. pool was always very quiet so the odd day there was a stag/hen it livened the pool up! few minutes walk to the strip or an Uber only cost €3.75 to the old town. hotel reception is well decorated. we were in room 206, it never got sun shining in on it however we didn’t mind this as it helped to keep the room cool.

there was no oven, which would of came in handy. the vending machines down at the kiosk by the pool don’t work.

really good location, about 5 minute walk to the strip! beds were clean and comfortable, left fresh towels daily!

there is no pool bar at this hotel , we ended up using the hotel next doors pool and bar which was great that they didn’t mind, but it was a quieter time of the year where there wasn’t as many people needing the sun loungers , If it is at peak times they may not let you use their facilities! The breakfast at the hotel was horrible and very expensive at 12€, definitely would go elsewhere for breakfast. they also take 100€ deposit of each person in the room, incase of any damages or noise complaints! we did not know this as we probably didn’t read the fine print! we did thankfully end up getting the money back

Breakfast- great selection of hot and cold foods. pastries and fresh breads, fruits. Spa- amazing hot stone massage (done by the lovely lady with long blond hair- forgot her name). Pool- nice outdoors pool, clean and comfortable pool beds to relax on. snack vending machine (haven’t used it so can’t say). otherwise you can use the pool for the apartments in the front which has a full bar. I think you pay for the day. we used it in the evening for free. Beds- comfortable. The whole hotel and interior is very outdated (except for the lovely reception area) but it’s great value for money and it has all you need and it’s comfortable.

WiFi is non existent! Can’t even use it for simple browsing, never mind if you want to watch anything! Housekeeping staff- quite passive aggressive and rude. when requested towel change (for a reason post sand on the beach and dirt bike off road trip etc) the lady tossed all the towels at the door and threw the floor one back and said to use it as its not that dirty and left… another one just mumbled and unwillingly handed us toilet paper when asked politely… Pub - smells bad of mould. it was hard to sit there & overpriced.

The facilities are really good and the location is perfect if you plan on using the old town and new town. The local restaurants were really good too. The outdoor hotel pools and lobby are amazing. The spa has every you need and the gym was really good for what I'd expect from a hotel. Games room for kids, luggage facility and good check out times, really good hotel for facilities.

The rooms, they are old, dated and dirty, my bathroom was covered in mildew. The beds were clean and comfortable but had no access to tea and coffee. They also could not use the kettle as the plug did not reach the socket because of the kettle base. I waited 45 minutes to check in, no staff were around, and when I asked the restaurant, they just shunned me and refused to help. Be careful of using the spa of unnecessary hidden charges (€3 for a shower cap that are mandatory apparently, and €2.50 to rent a towel with €10 deposit. You have to use theirs).

The breakfast was very good, full hot breakfast and Thelma was excellent, she made sure that Gluten Free bread was delivered to our table each morning.

The room décor needs to be updated.

Great apartment hotel for our family of four, bonus with the additional upper floor space with two single beds, bathroom and balcony for our children. Unfortunately the shower didn’t work, but this wasn’t a problem with the second bathroom. The apartment includes hair dryer and an iron / iron board. The kitchen area is sufficient, shame there never included any washing up liquid or sponge but there is a dishwasher and they do provide washing tablets. There is washer (€5) and dryer (€5) on every floor, you need to buy the tokens at the reception wish I knew this earlier in my trip. The fitness suite opens up at 9am… overall it’s pretty decent with sufficient equipment to do a pretty good workout, air-con is a little limited, but they do have a fan, but not sufficient when there is more than 4 working out in the same area. I never tried the indoor pool and steam room, but visited the facilities and it looked lovely. Outdoor pool was great, we never had any problems getting a sun lounger, you can also use the pool on the ground floor, we never did. Great location, far away from the noise of the new town and around 30 minute walk to the old town or around 5-10 minutes in the taxi (€6). There is a large supermarket (Pingo) across the worm roundabout.

General good, but the daily cleaning was hit and miss, they always made the beds… but the floors and bathrooms never seemed to be cleaned. No smart TV and the decor is a little dated. Wi-Fi is hit and miss some days it didn’t work or was very slow.

Small creepy crawlies on the bathroom floor, mentioned to staff, cleaners came in but they were there again next day.Need to be investigated.

When we arrived our allocated room was at the back of the hotel with a view of a wall and blank courtyard, as we like spending time out there eating meals and whiling away the day we asked for a change of room and were told the hotel was full that night and to check again the next day. We were given the same answer the following day and again the next. On our 3rd day we asked again and this time the lady on reception actually looked and found us a room, view of the pool and moved us there and then! from then forward we were more than content. The pool area was excellent and the fact you can also use the one at the front with the bar and snack area is a bonus. the indoor pool and spa are was also good for occasions you wanted to stay out of the sun.

The hotel seems to cater for a lot of transient tour groups, perhaps it would consider allocating rooms with no decent views to those only staying a night and give the more scenic to guests staying a week or 2.

Loved the location and the hotel our room was very spacious and clean was a bit disappointed with the pool area could have done with a pool bar and snack bar on our last stay we could use the pool at the front of hotel plus bar was bonus much prefer front pool this was our second stay but would have loved use of front bar hotel room was fab loved the space we stayed in room 210

Location, staff, great apartment with good pots and pans and cook top.

Very strong smelling laundry cleaners - please stop using such strong smelling soaps. Scents in lobby were also very overwhelming. Indoor pool was closed most of our visit and the lighting was poor in pool area. Also, the hotel should install handrails to get into pool and hot tub especially since mist of the hotel patrons are older and getting in and out of the pool was dangerous. No hooks anywhere to hang things up - nice to have a few in the bathroom.
