The hotel is quite old with old furniture yet nice, very tidy and cosy. very friendly nice staff. the location was nice regarding the distance from the city center. Although up on the hill, we could walk easily to the city center or take Metro & bus. There is a great Pizzeria near the hotel, try it ! ;)

it's 2 stars, however on booking.com was written 4 stars so I thought the price is worth it. Breakfast included but not enough variety, as vegetarian we could not find sthg to have, but tea & Coffee and a little bread (seemed other guests were satisfied with it). The weather was good in Lisbon during our stay but we couldn't open the window while sleeping, because of outside noise so Air conditioning was useful but too cold then :D

December 2022

Location was in walking distance to a lot of sites to see. We are used to walking instead of driving, so anything within a 30 minutes distance or so is great. Which got us to the waterfront from the hotel, and everything in between. We liked the bathroom, very European (what we liked to experience). The room was small but we didn't mind at all, enough room for the two of us.

The bed was very firm/hard and we woke up with sore backs most mornings. And the heat fron the HVAC unit didn't work, so the room was cool throughout our stay.

The hotel was clean. The room was a little small but had everything we needed and was comfortable. The breakfast was basic, especially for a vegetarian, but enough to start the day. We didn't really see much of the staff, except on the reception desk. The location is fairly central and only about a 10 minute walk to the metro.

It would have been nice to have a little more storage, the wardrobe was quite small for two people. The hotel was a little basic for the price.

This hotel is really comfortable, clean and very well situated as to transportation means. Absolutely recommended! Most of all we are delighted to point out the very kind and lovely accueil we had in the hotel from Pedro: he offered a very precious support to live Lisbon at the best conditions and with a truly, genuine Portuguese spirit! Again thank you very much Pedro! You were part of our journey marking it with a valuable remember! Silvia and Catia

Someone wrote earlier that you get what you pay for, and that is true, but here I feel I got more value for my € than I might have gotten. Breakfast was varied, and quite enough for us to keep us to late lunches out on town. There were extra treats for the Christmas days and New Year. Staff in breakfast room was very nice and friendly. Narrow beds is what you get at most hotels, and despite being accustomed to a larger size bed I slept very well. Friendly staff at the reception at all times of the day and night. Maybe the staff could have been a bit better at English (we are from Sweden) but we came to understand that the hotel is mostly frequented by the French. Distances looks longer on the maps, but we walked comfortably down to the river in 45 minutes. Keep that in mind ;-) Great value for money, I would consider staying at Hotel Alicante again.

You get what you pay for ;-) We got great value for the price we paid.

The rooms are small but adequate, aircon, separate shower / bath. The staff are very polite and helpful. Breakfast was good, lots of choice, fruit pastries, tea coffee juice. Good location close to Picoas Metro. Nice cafe / restaurant next door.

The only negative is that maintenance work was being done on the lift, lots of drilling and noise. Maybe maintenance could have been done out of season.

Staff was absolutely amazing - kind, considerate, helpful. While the location is pretty equidistant from downtown, the airport, and El Corte Ingles shopping district, the PHYSICAL location is…ughh - at the very top of a hill that I swear slants 40 degrees in 6 different directions from the front door. breakfast was pretty good - hot meats in Europe for breakfast isnt that common, so North Americans should like that, and there IS a Brazilian restaurant right next door whose food is incredible and very inexpensive for a sit down meal…the rooms themselves? VERY basic, wood all around, no deco, and mine was freezing for some reason - when it was 20 C outdoors…fortunately, the closets were filled with not one but TWO heavier woolen blankets that kept me toasty and comfy all might…Look, if your legs can handle the workout of the hills, and you’re not looking for a couples’ dream hotel stay (lets be fair, you shouldnt be spending much of your day locked in your room anyway), this hotel IS good value - and they get my recommendation simply for the quality of staff alone. And as far as location, ultimately, save $$$ on the nightly costs of a room here, and spend the money required on the (usually) cheap cabs in Lisbon to get where you want to go - you’ll come out ahead

Those hills…ugh…
