Alegre - Bussaco Boutique Hotel

The hotel has a very interesting atmosphere, it looks almost like a museum. The room was quite large and very clean, cool even though it was very warm outside. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was of good size, modern and with a nice shower. The breakfast buffet was quite varied for portuguese standards and very tasty as well. The breakfast lady was specially friendly and helpful. The pool was very clean and refreshing for the hot days. The bar at the pool had good prices and the staff was very friendly. The location in Luso was great, 2 minutes walking to the St. João Fountain, very near restaurants and the Buçaco Palace.

The toilette door in our room didn't close, luckily there was another intermediate door to the bedroom and it was not so uncomfortable. It would be great if there were more hooks to hang the wet towels, because they never dried and had to be changed too often as we didn't want to hang them on the nice old furniture.

Very comfortable bed. Very clean hotel. Excellent breakfast. Friendly staff. Stunning location.

No aircon. Limited on premises parking. Smoke from the smoking on next door balcony came into our room.

The room was terrific--excellent antique furnishings, modern bath, good bed with the good memory-foam pillows. And our own spacious balcony overlooking the town! A glass of wine on the balcony, with a sunset and a good book made this a highlight of our trip. The hotel is located close to the wonderful Busaco forest. Just minutes to the park on foot or by cr. The swimming pool is protected from the breeze, surrounded by lovely trees and bushes. Even in mid-April we enjoyed a couple of refreshing dips. Last, but not least, the Alegre has an excellent breakfast at a very reasonable. The host was gracious and helpful.

We spend in hotel four nights as my nephew participated in compition. The hotel is one of the oldest in Portugal (how we understood) so don't expect any new things, but for us it was perfect. The breakfast sattisfated us, swimming pool was great and even can enjoy with coctails (very kind girle who works in bar). The parking is safe, but hotel not guarentee that you will have space. However we spend good time and the staff was very friendly.

As the hotel is with antique furniture, it little bit smell.

The property is beautiful. We arrived after rain and the garden was lush and inviting. It was unfortunately too cool to use the pool (in late June - rainy week!), but it was still inviting. The hotel is historic with lots of character. we had the triple room and the shower was heavenly with lots of pressure (must be all that Luso water!). We had a lovely view to the garden. Breakfast was ample and diverse; very filling. The hotel is a short walk into town. We’d absolutely stay again at this property.

Fantastic position, comfy bed and clean and modern facilities. Small but just we needed. Restaurants and shops all around us. Owner was very accommodating, even after we had accidentally booked the wrong night to stay. Super close to the beach and bus station as well.

Only problem were the thin walls between the neighbouring apartments. Bit noisy at night.

Our stay was perfect. A beautiful hotel with loads of character. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious. We also had a lovely terrace, which was a a bonus. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was really good, a buffet style with the option of cooked eggs and bacon. Good coffee and plenty of it. All serve in a beautiful dinning room.

Would of been nice to eat in the restaurant in the evening, but it was closed due to covid restrictions. Apart from that everything was great.

Charming, historical hotel well located in Luso. Lovely grounds and pool with bar. Parking either on site or loads of room outside. Room plainly decorated but very comfortable. Very welcoming owners.

Would have loved the facility to make tea/coffee.

Lovely old style hotel in a peaceful central location in Luso/Bussaco. Gardens and pool beautiful. Breakfasts great Can walk into town to restaurants and walk to Bussaco Wood and Palace. Recommended for a relaxing few days

No tea/coffee/cold drink or snack facilities in rooms or communal area.

Extremely friendly staff. Excellent value for money. Beautiful swimming pool which I had to myself. Very tasty cooked breakfast, included in the price.

I could not fault this hotel. Everything was perfect.
