Sea Porto Hotel

If you want a base in easy reach of Porto, the airport and good transport links this is an excellent choice. The Senhora de Matosinhos tram terminus is a few minutes walk away and you can be in central Porto within half an hour. The town itself is teeming with many good restaurants within a 10 minute walk of the hotel, especially if you enjoy seafood. Matosinhos has a nice beach though the seafront is a little drab and you may wish to venture further up or down the coast if you are looking for something a little more scenic. The free parking either on the hotel forecourt or in the private underground car park was really helpful, allowing us to leave it in safety whilst we explored Porto. The breakfasts were good, with attentive staff replenishing stocks. The room, though compact, was adequate with a good shower.

The roads around the hotel, though not massively busy when we were there, are cobbled so traffic noise does intrude a little, as does the aircraft either taking off or landing at the nearby airport.

Strange configuration to toilet in a cubicle with frosted glass with limited room to manoeuvre (like it was designed by someone who has never actually sat on a loo!) Noise could be an issue if you are a light sleeper as early morning flights pass overhead A good 10 minute walk from main areas for bars and restaurants but close to metro station so very easy to get into the city for a less than a couple of euros each way

First I must comment on the staff. Warm, friendly, and very competent. There is a small cafe in the lobby area. The staff that attend the cafe are also. Very warm, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was an excellent buffet with choices and an array of too inviting local pastries.

The rooms were clean and modern. I liked the bathroom area with a separate toilet with glass door and walk-in shower with rain shower head. Beds could have been updated. Electric kettle with tea and instant coffee. Could have used a coffee maker for a higher quality brew.

Breakfast was really good, with good variety and any item that was running low would be topped up by the lovely staff. Location, very close to Matosinhos town centre that has lots of nice restaurants. Nice balcony and well sound isolation. Rooms were very comfortable and with a very good size.

This was not really a problem for us but other guests in the future might complain. One of the bath towels was quite damaged. Apart from that everything else was very good.

Excellent central location. Rooms are very nicely arranged - bed section, bathroom, shower - we loved it. Very clean and well maintained. The staff was very helpful in their recommendations for a closeby (walking distance) excellent fish Restaurant (they arranged immediately reservations for all of us - 4 people). The staff also recommended a wonderful local breakfast cafeteria within walking distance where lots of Portugese people enjoy their sweet breakfast/coffee ! I would go there anytime again - highly recommendable !

Nice spaces and very helpful staff. Breakfast was substantial and lots of variety. Rooms are spacious and immaculate. Beds extremely comfortable. Bathroom area and rain shower was a nice surprise.

My first-floor room was somewhat noisy from people coming and going below, and light and noise from the first floor event space impacted me somewhat.

Breakfast was a good wide range of foods, fresh fruit daily and nicely cooked eggs and bacon. We liked the open modern interior. Our sixth floor bedroom had great views and a balcony as well as a large bathroom with an excellent shower.

Evening bar food was disappointing and housecleaning didn’t happen until later in the day.

The location of the Hotel was great to go to the Primavera Sound Festival. Also, we enjoyed an early check-in when we arrived (which was very welcomed as it was raining outside). All the receptionists (specially Rita) were very helpful and provided good recommendations also on what to do around the city.

The bathroom felt a bit small, specially as there is a door for the toilet area, which in my opinion could have been better to separate the corridor to the bathroom.

Wide time range for a breakfast: you do not have to wake up too early because it is till 11, and if you have to go to the airport early in the morning, your also have a chance because breakfast starts at 7.

Wide glass doors to the shower and toilet. You cannot keep it open and due to high humidity all the towels left wet.

Hotel is very modern, bed is comfortable, great breakfast buffet and very, very helpful staff. They were super friendly and gave great recommendations - as the nearby restaurant 'Avô Arnaldo'.

The bathroom configuration is not what you'd expect in a 4-star hotel. There is not a proper bathroom, but two doors (one for the shower and other for the toilet) connected by a (tiny) sink. It was somewhat uncomfortable. I was traveling with my husband, but if you're in a twin room with a friend, privacy is non existent.
