Jardim da Batalha Boutique Hotel by Shiadu

Comfortable bed, helpful friendly staff/great service, good shower, decent breakfast in terms of value of money comparing it to similar budget hotels (lots of selection on the buffet). Nice to have a balcony, and a safe. And the mini fridge was stocked with beer, wine, cokes and water none of which we were charged for plus we got complimentary bottle of red wine and chocolates which was nice of them.

Our double bedroom room was very small so felt a bit compact. Wasn’t very much storage space and as it was so small some weird choices made in terms of layout such as basin for washing your hands in the main room not the bath room. Are to hang your clothes also had the safe in, which meant was impossible to hang long dresses without the getting a bit crumpled as the area was obscured by the safe. These are all very minor issues and nit picking. But overall was nice and good value for money. Just would have preferred a bigger room. Not completely central but around 15 minutes walk to main areas which wasn’t too bad.

The location and facilities and the nice buffet breakfast. Each staff I interacted with were all friendly and helpful. Love the accessible drinking and waiting area to access books and just chill. The sustainability plan and initiatives are great and loved the bamboo garden facing room, shower facilities and bed comfort was top notch. So peaceful, I could sit and chill and not feel like I’m in the middle of the city after a long day of walking.

I was put in the attic with the small window facing the street, but when asked to be moved to another room with bigger windows, they made it happen - thank you. The stairs to get up if you’re into fitness is a great benefit up to the attic, but they have elevators and this is helpful for those that aren’t able to use the stairs.

The personnel who work at this location are exceptional. Andre, Pedro, Acacia, Tony, and Irena, were helpful beyond any normal expectations. All worked together as a team doing everything and anything that needed to be done. I don't, know how the management could find such wonderful hospitality personnel. I recommend them all for a big raise. Any need we expressed, they made an effort to satisfy. We hated to leave. The variety of breakfast items included was excellent and beyond expectations. The room included a number of amenities such as a stocked fridge, and items for coffee, etc. The room also had a small closet which is absent from the room we are now staying in in Lisbon. The bed was more comfortable than the othèr 2 places we stayed in Portugal.

Absolutely everything! How come it’s only 3-star hotel. Amazing hotel staff, reception team, kitchen team! Very clean, refilling drinking water in the room, amazing breakfast with good variety and fresh orange juice, modern design, close proximity to all major sights. We lived in the main building, there is an elevator as well. Had an early flight, team arranged us take-away breakfast box (thank you, Irina!). Hotel has a small inner garden, the rooms are very cozy and stylish. The bed and pillows are super comfy. So far one of the best hotels I stayed in while in Portugal. They even have a complimentary bottle of wine in the room on arrival.

Nothing, all was great

The room my son and I had was spacious, bright and super clean. Really welcoming and a great view, and my last minute request for a twin room was accommodated. The balcony was such a nice way to enjoy the evening! Water pressure in the shower was great, separate toilet and shower which is appreciated when sharing a room! All the perks you could need Inc a mini bar for anything you want to keep fresh, hairdryer and tea etc. Breakfast was PERFECT. Fresh fruit, desserts, hot drinks on tap, lots of selection Inc for veggies. Really appreciated that as that was a bit tricky in Porto. My son loved the pancakes. Scrambled eggs and fresh juice was available every morning to order. Staff were super helpful, friendly and found me an charger adapter. Would 100% return and recommend to friends and family. The pictures don't do it justice! Location is great! Great restaurant/ bar at the bottom of the road, quite quiet and within walking distance of the main attractions.

Couldn't fault it!

The location of the hotel was excellent, within easy walking distance to the centre of Porto and close to lots of good eating places. The room was large and comfortable with a small, pleasant balcony. The breakfast was excellent with a lot of variety. All in all it was a very pleasant stay

There was nothing I could say that I didn't like. The nearest thing to a gripe is the main hotel signage could be easier. We were dropped off outside in the daylight so it wasn't a problem. However if I had arrived on foot in the dark it would have been tricky to spot. a very minor point!

The staff was really really nice! Especially Antonio, he gave us a lot of tips for exploring the city and also Portugal in general. The breakfast was very good, there was a buffet with a nice selection of savory and sweet choices (we looked forward to it every day :D). Also, you can choose if you want freshly squeezed orange juice and eggs in all variants. The room was clean and nicely furnished and the bed was very comfortable. All in all a great stay, perfect location and great staff & breakfast!

Sometimes it smelled like a sewer in the hallway resp. damp/moldy. But that's as we've heard very common for older buildings in Porto (high humidity). Apart from that, we have absolutely no objections.

Firstly, every staff member I met was super friendly and could not do more for me to make my trip excellent. Paula, Pedro and Clarissa were amazing. Paula explained where all the best sights were on the map and gave me lots of recommendations. Pedro rang around other hotels to find a pool/spa I could use as a one-off. As a solo traveller in an unfamiliar place I massively appreciated this. They really made a difference. The location is amazing, central but still quiet for sleeping purposes. The room I had was spotlessly clean. Quality furnishings and bed linen. Just perfect.

Nothing!

The hotel was perfectly located; we could walk everywhere we wanted to go in Porto. The unassuming town house front hid a garden and tastefully decorated modern rooms, and the hotel was pleasant and quiet at night. The shower was good, and the room comfortable, with its own small balcony overlooking the garden. The staff were friendly and helpful, even packing us a picnic as we would miss breakfast to go early to the airport. They organised an airport shuttle too. We would definitely stay here again if we came to Porto.

All good....

Very good breakfast served in a cute dining room on the ground floor. The location was excellent too within walking distance from main attractions. We only got taxi returning to the hotel from our nights out (costs 3,50 euros from Ribeira). Very comfy beds and clean rooms. We got the superior double which was quite spacious.

Hot water in the shower was coming in waves after some seconds which was very uncomfortable. The WC was in a separate cubicle which made it easier if the other person wanted to use the shower at the same time. I would suggest to put a shelf in the WC room which would be very handy to leave some personal stuff like wet wipes, sanitary products etc.
