Torel Palace Porto

Wonderful place, staff, ambiance of a novel with every room named after a Portuguese writer, books to share in the lobby/library. Lobby and adjacent library are spectacular. Would go back and would suggest to my close friends without a doubt. Breakfast buffet fantastic, cappuccino or cortado the best I had in a while.

Direct communications after booking were difficult. Wanted to get in touch with the hotel for parking reservation or for a 3rd night stay. They were changing their phone system and I was able to get in touch, yet I did mention it to the manager when prompted for anything they might improve. I was told a mobile app is in the works for those communications and queries with staff as soon as a booking is confirmed. That will be awesome.

The hotel upgraded us, we had the best room for real, unique designs and big space, boutique hotel style. the concept of the hotel is amazing. The staff are so nice and helpful, helped us with tickets and all our needs, parking available close by (staff park the car). The breakfast was so good. the hotel has fancy restaurant but we had deserts and coffee in the library. we enjoyed our stay and extended it. A lot of attractions are in walking distance. The rooms are so clean and the bed sheets smells good, small chocolate treats were provided every night with a bookmark that has some information about portages writers. If u like books, arts, and unique hotels, defiantly you must book. I have to say our room ceiling was just an art, and ceiling was so high, the level of details in the hotel is remarkable.

When we extend the day they didn’t get new tolitariyes. The hotel in narrow streets so the view of ur room is the room in the building in-front of you, we had to close the curtains as people on the other side can clearly see, however the room have two small balconies/windows ..

The hotel has a great atmosphere themed around Portugese writers, very well decorated and brings you straight into a a city holiday mood. The team is very helpful and friendly, although many trainees are not always effective. They do make you feel really welcome however, it really creates a warm and romantic atmosphere. The breakfast was excellent, and the best scrambled eggs in many years traveling.

The pool is there but small, and has little sun and you swim right up to any guest eating, so not perfect for a morning swim. The romantic atmosphere sometime is at the cost of comfort such as taps that were broken, curtains in bathroom entrance i.s.o. a door etc.

Beautiful hotel interior and theme. The location is superb, the restaurant breakfast delicious, staff is very accommodating, and the spa massages are perfect. All around an amazing, luxurious stay in Porto. Mostly I enjoyed how close it was to the centre, yet still had a peaceful and calm vibe tucked away on a quiet street. Perfect hotel to be in the city centre but still enjoy some quiet.

Dinner at their restaurant is quite limited as well as room service items. They have a specific pre-fixe type dinner experience at the restaurant every night thus making it hard to order room service.

We only had one night at The Torel Palace but it was memorable. We were upgraded to a suite which was huge and the staff went out of their way to be helpful in every aspect (including an early check in and baggage storage because we had a late flight home). The breakfast buffet was amazing and even included a fresh honeycomb with the honey dripping into a pot. There were bathrobes, slippers and a turndown service and the hotel was decorated beautifully on a theme of Portoguese authors. The beds were massive and very comfortable, the shower a good pressure and the hotel itself really central in Porto. Thank you for making our short stay so lovely.

Great location - about 5 mins walk from the main bridge and beside a busy square without any street noise travelling to the bedrooms. Breakfast was included and was a very nice selection of hot/cold food with eggs cooked to your specific order. We were upgraded to a suite when we arrived which was greatly appreciated. The room was lovely and laid out efficiently. There was a nice sitting area, a large bathroom with a walk in shower wet room, very comfortable king bed and a spacious balcony with table/chairs. A bottle of champagne was on ice when we arrived also. The staff were very attentive and helpful. They arranged our transport to/from the airport and organised a wonderful day trip to the Douro valley for us.

The pool was through the restaurant/bar and wasn’t something we felt like using very much as a result.

The Hotel is in an excellent location in downtown Porto, near all central attractions, marketplace, and many restaurants. The property is exquisite and charming. Rich in appearance, avant-garde In presentation and welcoming on arrival, like an age old friend, by its staff. From arrival we were treated like ambassadors to the “palace” with the staff taking valet care of our car and luggage. we were offered a room upgrade on arrival but declined to keep our reserved balcony suite. The room was clean, large for European standards and the bed was comfortable. although my partner had no complaints, I was not able to get comfortable with the feather or foam pillows provided, but that is my own ongoing saga for many hotels as I dislike firm pillows. they did have alternate pillow choices so I won’t fault tte hotel. The room has both a Nespresso maker and water boiler with pods and tea available and easily replenished by the staff. bathroom and shower were large and accommodating for both of us, with plenty of mirrors throughout the room for dressing and grooming. Although mid March, we used the air conditioning unit to cool the room as we are on the top floor and heat rises. The room was comfortable with air on or balcony opened depending on our preference. The morning breakfasts were abundant in choices with fresh bread, meats, cheeses, yogurt and fruit as well as honey in the comb. they also cook eggs to request and have cappuccino available. Breakfast in the basement bar - which was also available at night for drinks when we returned after dinner- outside on the patio with overhead heaters. We were also impressed with the owner personally checking on guests during breakfast. Truly a boutique hotel that we would stay at again on our next trip to Porto!

we liked everything

Amazing historic property in the heart of Porto. Great care given to the finer details. It is beyond the luxury experience in small ways....real old keys that work your door but great modern amenities that make you feel at home. They nailed it when it came to the right balance of old and new.....except for the pigeons and seagulls on the rooftops outside my balcony window.....sounds like a crying baby in the middle of the night!! The breakfast buffet is amazing...great healthy choices, friendly staff to welcome you. I even had my car washed at the parking garage to get a clean wind screen for the next leg of my drive! Amazing what 12EU will get you! I LOVE the theme of writers and poets. Please don't lose that....a truly amazing stay.

Nothing......just book your stay!

It was very beautiful and our room was very spacious. Everything we needed were there. The staff have been most friendly, helpful and professional. For my first time in Porto, they helped us with restaurant recommendations and bookings. Surprised us with a bottle of sparkling wine and fruits on arrival and on our last night. Breakfast was also fantastic!

The shower took us a while to work out but otherwise, no other problem.

Beautiful building with rooms that have been renovated with good taste and comforts. I LOVED all the pillows on the bed. The staff was so sweet and made arrangements for our toddler to be comfortable at the hotel. Tiago and the team were certainly a highlight of the hotel!

Some details of the facilities of the property itself were badly finished. The shower drain had a lot of little flies coming out of it and a bit of a bad smell. That should not happen with this standard of hotel.
