The location did not inspire us, but the hotel was excellent. The rooms gave the impression of recent upgrade which has been happening over a period of several years apparently. Parking is available at the side of the property, a little tight but we managed to park our Range Rover there so perfectly adequate. The staff were lovely and service was great. There was a good selection for breakfast and the full English was great. The decor was very tasteful and pictures around the walls were of Lake District scenes.

The only thing I had a minor issue with was a soft mattress but that is a personal thing.

From the look of the outside we were expecting very little. However, from the start we knew that was not to be. Staff were friendly and helpful, room exceeded expectations for comfort and facilities and the breakfast was well presented and delicious.

Very little. It was a bit noisy but couldn't expect anything else really as the hotel was located very near to a busy road. However after a while we got used to it and it didn't bother us. We were easily able to sleep through it.

First time visitors although we've driven past many times... but not again. Exceptionally friendly staff and ambience. Large spotless bedroom (No7) with luxurious carpet and pristine en-suite. We stayed during a heat wave and, although they couldn't provide a fan were more than happy for us to use our own. All the public areas were tastefully decorated and as clean as you'd ever wish to find. Breakfast was of a high quality, freshly cooked and generously portioned.

Nothing.

We stayed here for 11 nights. We have enjoyed the area; discovered the nature reserves along the coast line, the mosses and the hills and lakes of the closeby Lake District. The variation of landscapes in one area is unique. Every day we started with a tradional English breakfast and finished most days with a beer in the pub. There is an enclosed car-park as you need a car around here. There is wide range of restaurants in the city center. Lynn and Jim are enjoying running their Inn.

Nothing.

Located close to town and accessible to local amenities, Ormsgill Inn was scrupulously clean and extremely comfortable. The breakfast was brill! Thank you Lynn & Jim, both of whom couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome. Jim even stood in the rain to make sure our taxi arrived to save us having to do it in our finery for the wedding we were attending. We enjoyed our stay with you and would highly recommend Ormsgill Inn. We'll be back to stay when there's a Christening :-)

There is nothing to dislike about Ormsgill Inn. It's a pleasure to stay there.

Easy to get to with small car park on site. Staff were helpful and very friendly. Although the building looks a little run down from the outside, and the public areas such as the bar look a little dated, the rooms themselves were very clean and more modern looking. The inn and general area was very quiet when we were there despite several other customers we only realised were there at breakfast. Breakfast was really good, lots of options and cooked to everyone's liking. Great location for Abbey House and Gardens were we attended a wedding - less than 5 minute taxi journey.

Shout out for Ormsgill Inn. What a lovely place. We had a room at the top, which was spacious, beautifully decorated and a super bathroom with bath and shower over. The hosts were so friendly and helpful, allowing us to access our room a bit earlier so that we could get ready for a wedding. We slept like logs in the very comfy bed and had a marvellous breakfast.

Absolutely everything was great. No negatives for us.

Lovely quiet b&b with fabulous breakfast. I live in Barrow so wouldn't normally stay in hotels or b&bus in the town, but my boiler had broken and the house was freezing. Wasn't disappointed with the accommodation, owners got up early to do a breakfast for me before I went to work. Would certainly recommend to anyone.

Was a mite on the cold side - although it was January and in the middle of a cold snap.

Super friendly hosts, surprisingly spacious rooms, and very clean. A hot cooked-to-order breakfast started each day well. Location is a good base to stay in and explore the nearby areas by car.

Car park was very busy one night and had no spaces. Returned a little later to park to the side rather than in a space. Unsure if this was due to guests staying at the inn, guests having several cars, or locals enjoying a drink at the bar itself.

Great location! So close to all the best nature spots and shops, only if you have a car though. The rooms had everything you need for a short stay. The staff were very nice and polite. Breakfast was fresh - English breakfast or could have other options e.g. egg/bacon on toast or vegeterian English breakfast. Easy check in/check out. Smelt clean and disinfected, felt safe.

The shower was a bit awkward to use and the water splashed everywhere on the floor eventhough there's a curtain. We forgot our slippers and there was none provided. Also the walls were very thin, could hear people moving about above us, floor was creaking. Pool table costs to use (50p per game), we assumed it would be free, so didn't have any change.
