Hotel du Vin Bristol

It was a pure delight to stay at Hotel Du Vin, Bristol. From the excellent checking in service that we received, to the fantastic opulent suite that had every home comfort that one could possible need. We witnessed what can only be described as a the highest level of customer service which truly kept customer centricity at the very core of Hotel du Vin proposition. This high level of service was received from everyone that we had the pleasure to met. A special mention though to Jacob who was incredible and a credit to Hotel du Vin for his impeccable service. Well done! My Partner had a lovely birthday at your hotel which, in turn, made our overnight stay so very special. Thank you.

I’ve travelled extensively and stayed in hotels all over the world but rarely leave reviews. However, I had to in this case. Hotel Du Vin is a truly wonderful boutique hotel and experience. The staff, especially the lovely Karina, were phenomenal! It was a surprise trip for my partners birthday and all the front desk & concierge staff went out of their way to accommodate my requests and make it a special and unforgettable stay for her. Including rose petals, birthday card and balloons on the bed when we arrived. We were also upgraded to the Signature Suite and given a late check out for a tiny additional charge AND 2 free glasses of bubbly! Both the full English and veggie breakfast, delivered to our private roof terrace, were excellent, great bar and cocktails too. Very clean and well run. We went on to stay in a grand 5 star hotel in Bath afterwards and it was not a patch on the Hotel Du Vin!!

I booked a room and dinner 6pm, Sunday 7th May. This was a surprise for my partner as we had our first stay at hotel when we first started our relationship. I also planned to propose at the hotel on the evening. I called reception and the staff members on shift were amazing in helping me to make this special occasion happen. The staff went above and beyond and I cannot express our gratitude for all the friendly, attentive and professional support. The room was beautiful. The food and facilities were brilliant and the staff once again went above and beyond their duties to make our stay welcome. Thank you Hotel Du Vin!! Lynden and Ramneeta :)

Big room and comfy bed. One of the best showers I've ever had. Bathroom was big and the towels were really big and fluffy. Toiletries were very nice. It was nice and quiet even though on a main road. Very handy location for lots of bars and restaurants. Nice staff at breakfast and a decent selection of food.

Reception staff didn't say hello when you walked past. Looked down at their computer. They were nice enough if you needed to speak to them about something. Didn't like being asked what time we wanted breakfast for the next 3 days on arrival. Only one bottle of water each for 3 night stay. Told to buy more from the bar if I wanted it. Room was on the first floor and the bathroom overlooked a car park. Could see right in so had to keep the blind closed all the time.

Have previously stayed many times at the 'Avon Gorge Hotel by HDV' on business both before and after the HDV group acquired the hotel. Since retiring we always stay at the original Bristol HDV(The Sugar House) when visiting family in the SW. We always receive an excellent welcome and superb service from the team at the HDV Sugar House and it is great to see the same faces in the team each time we return (we stay in other hotels where there are different staff every time we are there) I have an arthritic knee and my request for a room by the lift and a table for dinner by the restaurant entrance is always acommodated by the team at the Sugar House which I hugely appreciate. We prefer the restaurant at the Sugar House HDV to the Avon Gorge HDV as the French theme and menu at ther Sugar House HDV is more 'traditiional to HDV' as opposed to ther more comtemporary food and mood of the Goram & Vincent restaurant at the Avon Gorge HDV. We love the relaxed bar area at the Sugar House which is a great place to enjoy a glass of Kir before dinner. The Kir at the HDV Sugar House is one of the best tasting and well presented Kir's I have tasted in the UK as the quality of the Cassis is great and the team put a single blackberry in the glass which is a lovely touch and I have only ever experienced in French restaurants. Food quality and presentation at both breakfast and dinner is consistently high. Rooms at the hotel are presented with usual HDV quality and are always spotless. We are looking forward to our next stay in a few months time.

I was looking for a place with a nice bathtub, and Hotel du Vin absolutely delivered. The bathtub was big enough for me and my 6' tall partner to share comfortably. Our room was very spacious, especially for the price, and the location of the hotel is fantastic. Ten minute walk from the coach station, and a short walk from lots of delicious restaurants. Would absolutely stay there again.

I have stayed at Hotel Du Vin hotels ever since they came into being. I have never had a bad experience. The bedrooms are spacious, the beds, super, super comfy, the bed linen so fresh and crisp. The staff in the restaurant went out of their way to help me as I wanted to take a dinner from the restaurant to the hospital where my daughter was having an operation. They did this with ease. There was fresh milk in the fridge, not that horrible UHT. I just love these hotels. And yummy breakfast of course!!

Really good mix of modern hotel with traditional features in the room. Room and especially bathroom was a lovely size. Nice atmosphere in the bar and restaurant. Very near to the city centre and hospital which you can reach via a stone alleyway at the back of the hotel.

It can be a bit difficult to drive in and drop off luggage as the road is busy and space is small. Hotel parking is very limited at the front of the building but the discounted parking available in the nearby NCP is very good.

Staff very friendly and helpful. We had a problem on the first night (noisy people above, until 2am) and they found us another room for the rest of the night, then moved us on the last floor for the second night and we got a discount. The rooms are very big, with a minimalist and classy decor. The bathrooms are stunning.

Obviously our first night was not what we expected, the people above kept walking until 2am. We would recommend to ask for a room on the 3rd and last floor, as this is an old building with creaky floors here and there. Be aware that the 20£ a night parking is outside in the street and below trees inhabited by many birds, so your car may need cleaning when you get it back...

This hotel is wonderful in such a superb location .. it is spotlessly clean and the breakfast was excellent .. lots of wonderful choice and lovely quality. The staff were so helpful and attentive.. the room was lovely, bed was huge and the bathroom was gorgeous with beautiful products .. only fault was the room was a little too warm .. such a minor thing as our overall stay was excellent and we will 100% be returning in the very near future.. we recommend this hotel very highly
