Bristol Marriott Royal Hotel

Beautiful building with tonnes of character. Lovely hotel reception and lounge area. Staff very friendly and efficient and our room was well equipped, clean and comfortable. Fantastic location with safe parking.

The stunning palm room should be used for all guests. It used to be set up with tables for afternoon tea and/or breakfast. It seems a waste that it’s now sat empty. Likewise the bar opposite this room - both used to be busy and bustling. It’s also a real shame that the pool has closed as it was beautiful. The porter has gone too so overall the amenities have declined. I’d also personally prefer a restaurant that isn’t a steakhouse chain as I’m vegetarian and I just feel it’s a bit tacky for such a beautiful hotel. A new independent bar and restaurant would have been a much better choice.

- despite having a really nice swimming pool in the past, they have now removed it which was a real shame…especially as this hotel is quite expensive. you would like to think there would be a pool. - the quilt inside the bedding was very dirty - sounds of drilling and building work sounds coming from the room above at early hours of the morning - You have to pay quite a bit for parking (£17 a day) which again, is slightly frustrating as the hotel itself is quite expensive to book.

The Hotel Building was very impressive, as soon as you walk in you get a sense of real history. The interior decor is beautifully arranged with it's over hanging chandelier and countless portraits hanging on the walls. The room was nice, clean and big, there was space to walk between the beds and the bathroom was spacious, however the shower door had an interesting design, it could be a European style, but I have never seen a half hinge flap glass door that did not enclose the whole shower. All in all a wonderful stay!

The garbage cans were a little too small and the parking spots are very tight for a big car.

Well appointed, centrally placed hotel, spacious room, comfortable bed and a good choice of breakfast.

Luxury Double Room up to standard, with a decent lift service to the second floor, but about a 250ft walk down a corridor from the lift. Amazing that a top Marriott Hotel failed to produce my Times Newspaper, as the "The delivery driver had failed to arrive"! Did offer to send out for one but only when I asked where it was. Parking was awkward with very few available spaces. Even though we arrived before 4.00pm as advised, only found a very small space making egress from vehicle extremely awkward. Although we managed ourselves, we certainly could not recommend to our contemporary senior citizens with more restricted mobility.

The building is lovely, great location, secure car park. Facilities of hotel and in room are great, has air conditioning, good amount of space in the room. On the whole staff were friendly and polite. Despite being central and on a busy road, there was absolutely no sound heard in the room, amazing!

Unfortunately housekeeping have let them down due to not putting some items in our room that should be there, I had to ask reception for these several times before they were then remembered and rectified. We didn’t have a great sleep due to uncomfortable mattresses.

The location was great! I would particularly like to mention some of the staff who gave us particularly good service ~ the housekeeper who brought us coffee, tea and toilet rolls on the evening of the 30th April when we had not been restocked during the day, the waiting staff on duty at breakfast on the 2nd May and Kim and her colleague on reception when we checked out on the 2nd May.

The TV in our room was not Smart ~ we couldn’t connect or access iPlayer. We were charged twice for car parking and had to query it with reception - it was remedied, but it was unfortunate that we had to query it!

Great location and lovely hotel. Reassuring to be able to park securely in the city overnight. Comfortable bed. Clean and quiet room. Great selection at breakfast. Friendly, helpful and efficient staff.

Had a superior room. Previously stayed in a standard room and I was disappointed as I didn't feel there were any 'real' extras for the increased cost. There was a definite lack of toiletries in the room. (More were provided on first visit in standard room). Only 1 body lotion. No shower cap. Only 1 dressing gown provided for two adults.Also couldn't get the coffee machine to work. There were no instructions which was a shame.

The best thing for me as the designated driver is that the car park is right underneath the hotel and parking valid until midnight on the day of checkout! The hotel was beautiful. The double deluxe room was brill for a girl's trip with three of us! So much room with plenty of space for luggage, clothes hangers, hair dryer, iron/ironing board, huge bathroom. Small things made a big difference like being provided with more than enough towels and tea/coffee making facilities for 3! (The amount of hotels I've been to where you have to ring for extras?!). Also the staff at reception were lovely, friendly and really helpful.

Excellent room. Quiet - no noise from inside the hotel or outside. Excellent location next to the Cathedral. Good car park. Staff were excellent and nothing was a problem. Very positive.

Car park security was a worry. One guest had their car broken into and an expensive camera was stolen from it. Thankfully we had no problem with the parking. The breakfast was OK but too expensive if you just wanted a light breakfast. The restaurant/room service did not suit us. We ate dinner there one night but the menu was too restrictive to eat there for three nights, especially for my wife who is a vegetarian.

The hotel was exceptional clean, staff efficient, professional, helpful and friendly. check in and out was swift. Bar staff very polite and helpful. Miller and Carter exceptional. Room was clean and great air con which was needed due to very hot day/eve. safe and fridge in the room which was very helpful and iron with ironing board. Breakfast was plentiful and great quality, plenty of options to suit all appetites. although I didn't go out of the hotel as it was an family party, I do know the location and area well and very well situated for a central location for the Hippodrome/O2 Academy/Harbourside.

Only issue we would have had if it wasn't such a hot day needing air con, would be opening the window.
