We were asked to go to the pub next door for the check in - despite the busy evening we were attended straight away, and we were brought to our lovely room, it was huge, we did not except such a big room, brilliant. Very comfortable, very clean. In the morning we had breakfast (full Uslter fry) at the pub. Staff was very friendly. At night there were live bands in the pub but we could not hear the noise at all from our room which was great! For our check out, we had an early wake to go to do the Gobbins Walk so we left at 8.15am (and missed breakfast) but there was someone in the pub already, where we could drop our bags to be looked after which was great. We would love to go back, it is a handy option for a quiet stay and with a quick access to Belfast (20 min by train).

We had such a lovely stay here! The room was absolutely gorgeous and massive, with a really nice bathroom with a large shower. Everything was in perfect condition and it was just so beautiful, I was amazed by the luxury for this price. Kettle, fridge and hairdryer were available in the room. TV had many channels and Netflix available. Breakfast was delicious. The bar next door has a small dinner menu but upstairs there is a restaurant where we had an amazing dinner, definitely recommended! The staff was incredibly kind and helpful and we could leave our luggage after checkout in a safe spot so we could go explore the castle.

Honestly nothing, everything was wonderful and we are recommending this hotel to everyone looking to go to the area!

Walter's Place was a lovely little B&B that we found by chance whilst booking a last-minute trip to Northern Ireland. We wanted somewhere cozy, comfortable, and quiet and this ticked all the boxes! Everything ran smoothly throughout our five-night stay. Check-in was next door at Ownies Bar where you also go for your breakfast. The staff were warm and inviting and couldn't do enough for you. We stayed in the Koi Carp room which although didn't have the best view (a small courtyard around the back), the decor and facilities definitely made up for this. There has obviously been a lot of thought into the interior design of the room which was stunning. We had a (huge!) king-sized bed, a tv with Netflix, a fridge, and a large bathroom with a walk-in shower. There were plenty of delicious options for breakfast which we managed to work our way through each day. We had an evening meal at Ownies one evening as well which was superb! The atmosphere and food at the pub were excellent and it was very welcoming. Walter's Place is very well connected in Carrickfergus, with the railway station about 5-10 minutes walk away. The high street is just around the corner with all of your essentials and some lovely bars and restaurants. Can highly recommend The Dobbins Inn and Castello Italia for evening meals.

The underfloor heating in the room took a little getting used to. It was very warm upon arrival and it took us a while to find the thermostat and work out a suitable temperature. There was an air-con unit which was helpful but seemed quite wasteful to have that running whilst the heating was on full blast.

Check in was quite okay(at the pub nearby). The staff was very courteous. The room was clean and comfy especially the bathroom. The room even had a fridge. Breakfast was okay and tasty but with little choice. Next to the room was a pub(Ownies bar) where we got the breakfast and our dinner(highly recommended).

The air conditioning made strange noises. On the second morning the window cleaner stood in front of our window without prior information.

The breakfast was great with a good access time of 9am to 11am. The location is also good allowing quick access to the north and Belfast. Owners Bar is a great place for a drink and a meal.

Trying to navigate the stairs with a heavy suite case/s. The room I was in was at the back and subsequently there was not a lot of natural light which meant I had to keep the lights on when in the room.

Our flight got cancelled and delayed by almost 15 hours to Dublin. The owner waited in his car until 1:30 AM early in the morning us to arrive. He himself took care the next day that we get a good vegetarian breakfast as well as places to visit in North Ireland.

hardly anything. All the people were very helpful. The only problem occurred in the parking as I parked the car probably few inches on yellow line so that we got a parking ticked the next day. Be careful with your car.

Where can I start? Walter's place is really really nice! It is managed through the pub and restaurant next to it (Ownies) in which you also have a nice breakfast. The room is clean and has everything necessary and the position is great: you are very close to the castle and the church of Carrickfergus and you can walk next to the sea. The food at the pub is really good as well!

If I really have to find a small downsize, is that there was some noise coming from the pub until around midnight/half past midnight, however, it is understandable for a Saturday evening and nothing problematic!

Great location - overlooking the sea. Large room, great bed and shower. Room was very clean and the fridge was really handy in the recent heat to keep put drinks cold. Very close to the local town centre and Carrickfergus castle - only about 20 minutes from Belfast city centre. Breakfast was very good - the full Ulster fry was the biggest plate of food I have ever seen!!

Breakfast was great, liked the fact that as a lone visitor you had option of selecting your own seating within the pub rather than being allocated seating in restaurant style layout. Staff member Gail had a friendly fun energetic vibe about her which was lovely, had the vegan breakfast which was served quickly, was hot and delicious ( big thanks to Willie the chef). Location was great as your could then have a great walk along seafront and the park located at the back of Walters/Ollies

Cant say there was anything I didnt like. Surprisingly there wasnt any external street noise given rooms location close to pub, there was some internal noise as other guests returned back to their rooms (small herd of baby elephants wearing flipflops lol ) but to be fair that can apply to all hotels and it wouldnt put me off staying there again

Great breakfast, plenty of choice. Bed very comfortable and the pillows. Ideal location. Staff very friendly and helpful. Tea/coffee topped up every day. Beautifully decorated!

Radiator in bathroom not working/not on so difficult to dry towels and chilly! Black mould around shower . Very noisy as the pub next door was closing past 1am, aware when we booked it was attached to the pub, but still very noisy!
