Citrus Hotel Cheltenham by Compass Hospitality

The hotel was good for a reasonable price. There is a small breakfast room for a continental breakfast (croissants, toast, juice, yoghurts etc) and a small bar in the small lounge area where you can purchase drinks. We were able to take our dog which is a bonus and there is covered parking (£10 a day) in a central part of Cheltenham. There is also tea and coffee making trays in the room which is always well received plus good TV.

Our two rooms could benefit by a small refurbish as areas round the shower etc were cracked and tatty - but then the price of staying is very good. The real complaint was that on entering one of our rooms there was toilet paper down the loo and 'skid marks' - nothing that four flushes wouldn't sort but nevertheless not brill for a first impression.

It was right in the centre of Cheltenham which was perfect for our girlie shopping trip. We had 3 rooms - triple, family and twin. All suitable for our needs. The family room was spacious to accommodate all 7 of us for games one evening. The continental breakfast was ideal. Plenty of choice to get us started for the day. All the staff were very helpful. The price was ideal too..much more affordable than a lot of places.

There wasn't much to dislike. The car park is quite small and spaces tight. I had booked the biggest disabled space which was perfect for my Mum who has mobility issues. But would have struggled in the other 'nornal' spaces.

Room was clean and tidy, bed was comfortable and it was nice and quiet. Staff were friendly and helpful. Bonus to be able to use a space in the secure car park. Easy to get into the town centre

There was little I expected to be any better. If you ramp up the luxury etc. the price ends up rising accordingly and we wanted an overnight stay for a reasonable price in the centre of Cheltenham which is what we got.

The best part of this hotel is the location - very central. Stayed her many times over the years. Parking is tight with the spaces, but at least you have the opportunity to park in the centre of town.

Breakfasts have become a little disappointing over the years as they have gradually cut it back in scope. Fairly basic now, but adequate. I think they have stopped serving at the weekends now.

Obviously location. Staff pleasant and helpful. Liked the room size and decor style (fifties?). Comfy beds. Spacious bathroom. Although there were quite a few young people on our floor we didn't hear them. Liked the fact you could buy cute small bottles of milk onsite. The fridge in the kitchenette was a handy asset. They offered a continental breakfast which my friend liked. It was basic but adequate.

The room was 'tired' I think is the phrase. Probably was a state of the art 'suite' originally. Obviously has had many years of use. Not that well cleaned in places. There was a strange gaping hole where the vertical phone had come away from the wall. It was a family room and the chairs around the table were very stained - looked like there had been several 'accidents' on them over the years. The kitchenette was very basic and understocked. Shower not that easy to operate. Generally we were comfortable though and liked the large room enough to overcome the blips.

Simple budget hotel - clean room, decent bed and good shower. Friendly staff on check-in. Good town centre location off the inner ring road with decent pubs around the corner, slightly further down the High Street. Did the job for a one-night stay and did it well.

Lack of plug/charging sockets is an issue - there's nothing by the bed to charge your phone with (there's an old-fashioned landline instead). Chintzy flamingo wallpaper was a strange touch! And there was a bit of noise outside - being close to pubs also has its downside!

We booked late and were very pleased to get a good room which was immaculately clean and had comfortable twin beds. It was in an excellent location, close to the town centre, shops, pubs and restaurants and the general hospital, which we were visiting. It was very good value for money. The breakfast was basic but considering the price had very good choice and unlimited drinks, yoghurt, cheese, toast and spreads, pastries and cereals. The lady working there was very friendly and worked hard to keep the food area stocked and the tables cleared and clean. It was a quiet area. Several people were working on laptops. Bathroom facilities were very good. Storage was just right for a 2 night stay. It was great to have a concierge service 24 hours a day. We appreciated the secure parking at a reasonable price, which compared very well with car parks and on-street.

I can't find fault with the room or the service we had. It had everything we needed at a very reasonable price.

The hotel is right in the town centre and was clean with helpful and friendly staff. The breakfast was good with staff available to refill as necessary. This hotel was much cheaper than any of the others in Cheltenham although the rooms were probably much the same as you would get in any hotel, so value for money is the big plus for this hotel.

It is right in the town centre and there was some noise outside - not the fault of the hotel, but we were woken early by neighbouring businesses trundling wheelie bins while others in our party were disturbed by music and high spirits from a pub or club nearby. The car park has very tight spaces and it was difficult to get our large car in and out. We ended up parking on the street which we had to pay for although it wasn't expensive.

It was a pleasure to stay here from the minute we arrived; from Matt on the desk to Georgia who kindly heated our vegan oatmeal for us, we couldn’t have been treated better. Georgia was amazing; she reassured our little dog, who was clearly scared, and went more than the extra mile when it came to preparing our oats for us. These members of staff are pure gold and added to the clean comfortable room, we couldn’t have asked for more. The only slight downside was that we had the windows open because it was hot and rowdy youngsters outside in the street kept us awake for a while, which was not the hotel’s fault. I can’t wait to stay here again.

The one receptionist was just rude thought she was having a bad day but next morning at breakfast was just as rude making snide remarks as she walked away from other people and telling people come get your food I can’t get through couldn’t even help a lady with a walking stick trying to carry toast and cup of coffee
