Ellenborough Park

The staff were very helpful showing us round and giving us the history of the hotel, we loved our room as it overlooked the race course, there was a lovely choice of food and we had everything we needed for a our stay, its a stunning place to stay

My only small complaint is that the younger members of restaurant staff could be informed that at a 5 star hotel I didn't want to be leaned across when my food was served or plates etc collected and there were a couple of occasions of more coffee on the saucer than in the cup! But these are just little things.

Fantastic staff who went all the way out to ensure our stay was great. It's what you'd expect from a 5* establishment. Lovely setting and nice, modern room.

Dinner was disappointing - I found plastic in my salmon entre. The young waiter had NO idea or instruction on how to decant wine and ruined my £200 bottle I brought for the special occasion. Afternoon tea was disappointing also and the service very slow. On both occasions I was not charged for the dish, corkage or tea, but I feel you could do better in training staff & speed of service please.

it would be nice to have one space these days where dogs aren't allowed.

staff are super nice and gorgeous place but does need maintenance.

Where do I start: 1: Upon arrival after a long journey and since my room wasn't ready, I would expect from a luxury hotel to offer welcome drinks or tea since it was cold. 2; Ordered lunch, and in all honesty, my son can do a better cheese sandwish. 3: When I went to my room, it was freezing, I called 4 times for someone to attend to my request, and they brought in a portable radiator 4: Sink does not drain at all 5: I was told to leave the lounge area as I'm not booked for the afternoon tea.

Pods for dining inside/outside option for Breakfast. Breakfast - good selection. Relaxed atmosphere. Good resolution of issues.

Limited Spa hours - 'day only' - so no time to use if you were busy during the day. ie Sauna, jacuzzi, steam room. Swimming pool was outside, so was OK to use in daylight hours. Food & drinks were on the expensive side. Plenty of staff but 50% appeared to be new/ beginners so they lacked initiative. ie spotting issues before being requested eg no plates, no glasses, etc. Not normal in a 5 star hotel.

The location, spa and pool facilities were great. Bathroom was very lovely and large enough for two.

Some members of staff seemed slightly judgemental and the hotel booking system hadn’t registered our pre-payment via booking.com so that is something to be aware of so you don’t pay double for your stay! A refund has been organised but will come within 10 working days which is inconvenient as the charge was over £300 additional to what we had paid.

The Beautiful house and grounds.

Ellenborough Park need to pay attention to detail. For this calibre of hotel we would have expected that telephone calls to room service would be answered promptly rather than not at all. Breakfast service used very cheep paper napkins, where was the linen? Day Room cleaning and turndown service varied significantly from excellent to poor. Lack of consistency was an issue. Requests weren’t always met, mostly ignored. Wines definitely overpriced. Dog extra night charge - way over priced.

The buildings and grounds were absolutely stunning! Staff were very welcoming and helpful, especially the ladies at breakfast. Very comfortable bed and lovely decor in the bedroom with large TV with youtube and netflix enabled. Gorgeous big bathroom with brilliant shower pressure and heated floor. We loved the huge selection of continental breakfast and the hot breakfast to order was good too - local free range produce. Steam room and jacuzzi was nice too. The stay was for our anniversary and the hotel had left us some complimentary chocolates and a card in our room which was a nice touch.

There was a large clump of hair in the shower. The room was very hot at night even with the air con on. The pool was closed for maintenance and the hotel did offer us a complimentary use of the garden retreat spa but they were fully booked so we didn't get to use it, which was really down to bad luck and not the hotel's fault - we did however manage to use the indoor jacuzzi and steam room which is quite small so we were lucky it wasn't busy but it was a lovely environment.

The room was lovely but there were a couple of issues, namely , the shower tray was loose, this was reported and repaired, the magnifying mirror’s light did not work , this was reported but could not be fixed as they did not have the bulbs required, the hot water tap was exceedingly hot , too hot and dangerous . The full length mirror was attached to the wardrobe on the right of entry door , thus could not open fully due to the door arm preventing it and made it difficult to see yourself in the mirror properly.

Difficulty with steps for my husband . Poor service evening of 17th dining in the restaurant. Food choice I made was not great, had to ask for an alternative option.

The staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating, especially Laura on the concierge, if we have remembered their name correctly. My partner and I were celebrating our anniversary and treated ourselves to the spa and its facilties. We ended up getting room service which was a first for us. The small details in the room; from the complimentary chocolates and note; the upgrade to champagne for our lunch due to our celebrations was a lovely touch. The breakfast spread was exceptional and definitely worth booking in for.

There were some cobwebs in our room but it didn't take away from its charm, otherwise it was a lovely stay.
