Captain's Club Hotel & Spa

The food was excellent and the staff could not have been more helpful. Service was as high as you will find in hotels these days. As members of the public can pay and display in the Hotel Car Park, there were times when it could get congested during the usual peak events each day. Upon returning to the Hotel there was an occasion when I got the last slot. A little disconcerting when you are returning after a day out.

Car Parking was my only concern. If I am to nit-pick, then the very large windows in my room were draughty although a strategically placed electric heater did prevent most of the draught from invading the main part of the room. This solution must be quite expensive.

Everything was great apart from me not reading the instruction not to leave window open (I had left my glasses in car), I could not read this without glasses and came back after a short walk to thousands of insects covering walls, bed and ceiling, at first we were told there were no other rooms available and then the manager luckily informed us the hotel had a cancellation and could move me rooms, but staff said that is why we leave a note in the rooms and seemed to place blame at us for not reading.

The staff were very friendly engaging in conversation and greeting you whenever they saw you. All the staff were genuinely happy to be there you could tell it was a family run independent hotel not some anonymous chain. The location was superb overlooking the river and also a short walk to the town centre through the church grounds , this was a last minute change of venue , we are VERY glad we found this hotel and we will definitely be going back.

The view from the rooms is amazing especially with floor to ceiling windows. The food, both dinner and breakfast were excellent. However, the ultimate accolade must be reserved for the staff who were all so incredibly friendly, helpful and polite. As guests we were treated with so much respect. I don’t really want to single anyone in particular but the restaurant staff were exceptional as was the male receptionist.

All staff were polite and friendly and exceeded expectations in terms of their willingness and immediate response to any request to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Service in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner was attentive but not obtrusive. Food served for breakfast and dinner was excellent, as was the assistance in choosing a wine to compliment our food. We were in the area for business but also used the spa and hotel to relax.

There was not anything we did not like. Sitting outside for breakfast in the morning was good but we were bothered by a lot of wasps, not sure if anything can be done about wasps but, if it can, it would certainly improve the breakfast dining experience outside. Food and drink was a little pricey but excellent, so very difficult to find fault!

Best Hotel we have ever stayed in. Costs were high but the whole experience from start to finish were exceptional. The staff were absolutely first class, an absolute joy. The apartment suite was huge and beyond my expectation, 2 x bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen which was well equipped, dining room and lounge. Ate in the restaurant first night, 1st class service and room service day 2 - excellent. We visited the town, Mudeford by ferry from local Quay and also Hurst Castle

Location and river view from our room was great. Close to the ferry for a beautiful walk to Hengistbury Head. Staff friendly and attentive. Food excellent.

The dinner menu wasn’t as ‘upmarket’ as we expected. What we had was delicious and beautifully presented, but for us there was not enough choice to have eaten dinner there every night. We had already pre booked 2 other restaurants for our 3 night stay and were glad we had done so.

Thank you to James for organising the mobile wall handles and seat in the shower for my mother who is disabled. Also, we do not know his name, but the very tall young gentleman with glasses in restaurant was very helpful and courteous. This is the fourth time we have returned to the Captains Club as I wanted somewhere we knew, especially with my mother's mobility issues after 2 years of not being able to have a break - So if that is not a recommendation, I do not know what is.

The location was really nice and outdoor furniture comfortable. Staff at all times were helpful and cheerful

It would have been nicer to have better quality bread and not standard sliced bread which was thin and tasteless. It would also be better served after fruit and cereal and not after the cooked breakfast. Although I didn’t ask at the time a soya milk would have been a good addition.

well laid out, large room, large bathroom and shower, very clean, contemporary decor, great view, large vey comfortable bed, super food, ample free parking

hairdryer in room was small (travel variety), old and didn’t heat up, it only blew cold air so my hair didn’t dry properly and took a long time, no mini bar in room, no hot chocolate option in room, poor selection of biscuits, small pool, no steam room
