The most beautiful setting - only 8 mins drive to Durham - park & ride £2 per person return ! Restaurant was fabulous , the espresso Martini's were superb ! - it was a piece of Italy in the Durham Countryside , it was so quiet , if not driving you'd need to pre-book return taxi if going to Crook ( fabulous restaurant called The Coppermine highly recommend ) . My only tiny gripe - could do with more toiletries ( shower gel , shampoo ) but really not an issue - bed was super comfy and the room super clean and modern. Will definitely be going back - the whole area is lovely we had a great long weekend away .

A few more toiletries wouldn't go amiss .

The room was bright and comfortable with all the usual facilities, but it is eating at La Fattoria that really makes this stand out. The concept is of a chef inviting you to his house and it was fascinating to watch chef Max at work in the kitchen. Although the restaurant itself is very much on the no-frills end, the food is what makes it stand out. Everything is cooked by Max, and on both nights we enjoyed some of the best Italian food I have ever had outside of Italy. Combined with the warmth of welcome from the front of house (I'm sorry - I've forgotten his name) this was a real highlight of the long road trip we'd been on. They are a relatively new business, and it's clear they have plans to expand. I really hope they succeed - a genuinely stand-out experience.

Perhaps breakfast could have been a little more finessed rather than Max simply asking what we wanted without presenting the choices (although to be fair the menu was in our room), but he did do a very good cooked breakfast.

Lovely location, nice size room, good shower, comfortable bed, quiet. The owner runs the Italian restaurant attached to the B&B. The food and atmosphere excellent.

There are a couple of tables next to the only toilet in the restaurant and the comings and goings we're a bit off putting. We stayed for 4 nights and our room wasn't serviced. We were offered some fresh towels though and we received additional tea and coffee when requested. It would have been nice to have a choice at breakfast other than a cooked one. But overall we really enjoyed our stay and Max is a great character.

Everything. Max, the host and chef was very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Dan, who waits on and works the bar is so nice. He has a smile for everyone and chats away. Max quite often sings in the kitchen which makes everyone smile. The food is amazing and all freshly made, to die for. The room was a good size and clean. Max has a lovely dog too, friendly and so well behaved. We will definitely be back again.

There was nothing to dislike. The scenery and surroundings were lovely, so peaceful.

BREAKFAST! WE CHOSE TOAST AND CEREAL! A TOASTER ON HAND AND BOXES OF CEREAL ECT. TO HELP YOUSELF WOULD BE A MUCH BETTER OPTION BLAME THE PANDEMIC BUT FEEL MORE COMFORTABLE THAT WAY JUST A NIT PICK BUT ONLY CRITICISM

A nice farmhouse at the outskirts of Durham. Very peaceful. The place just opened so it's basically brand new with good facilities. The proprietor (Max) is a good cook and made me some dinner. He also stood in for a taxi that failed to appear - I am grateful.

Unless you have a car, this place can be a bit challenging to commute to. The taxi services couldn't cope with the demands, and I was late for a meeting at the University.

The B & B is situated in the country so it's nice and quiet but close enough to a village but there's a restaurant and bar onsite . The room was large and spotlessly clean and the bed was very comfortable . Breakfast was served in the restaurant by Max , the owner , who couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful and was really good . I was sorry that we were only staying 1 night on our way south but since we often pass that way we will definitely be back .

Lovely newly built rooms above an annexe which made me the first guest to stay in them. The restaurant looked excellent, however I had already made plans to eat in Durham so wasn't required. Very peaceful location and ideal for those wanting to stay in the area and willing to drive, however a taxi was only £14 into Durham centre.

The car parking for the B&B was on uneven ground so be careful when pulling up.

As I said above, room was gorgeous, lovely quiet setting. Food was amazing and hosts were lovely. We would go back to visit.

This was a beautiful place, so rustic. The room was lovely. I would say the only thing I did not like was, in the bathroom drawer, there was a used man's razor. Not good and everything in the draw was aimed at men. I usually always take shampoo and conditioner but did not this time. That would have been a nice touch and a hair dryer.

Friendly host, lovely setting, welcoming feeling, very comfortable rooms, nice food and good value. Well positioned just outside Durham city centre and it was easy to access the city via park and ride.

We can't think of anything. It is a fairly new business and if Max continues as he has started then we are sure he will do well. We would recommend it to anyone and will visit again.
