The building is exquisite as is the location with close proximity to the woods for walks and the lovely village of Hartley Wintney, as well as other important locations for sightseeing. The very well groomed gardens are lovely for strolls, with the restaurant conveniently overlooking them. The staff was very kind and provided us with maps for the 5km footpaths into the woods, which were amazing with a variety of scenery through corn and grain fields as well as wild forest, willow trees and streams. During our daily walks into the woods we were lucky to get a glimpse of deers and flying ducks and also loved the curious cows gazing at us. We had dinner in the restaurant which was very tasty. The daily cleaning service is impressive.

The breakfast was rather basic and the afternoon tea was ok. There is no lift, which can get a bit tricky when carrying luggages, but this is a period building. The hotel staff seemed unaware of the area in order to provide any recommendations for restaurants, sightseeings etc.

The setting is absolutely amazing, beautiful park, the family rooms are spacious enough to fit 3 people, beds are confortable, the bar has great atmosphere.

Nobody there to help you with your heavy luggage with I had to drag myself onto the third floor (no elevator in this old buiding of course), despite my asking twice and after having waited for several hours. In fact they host weddings and work conferences and those clients take most of the space and the attention of the staff, so that they are not so available for the other guests. We had a very bad experience with the diner there also, but we told the manager and he was very kind and apologized and did not invoice us for it which we highly appreciated. They could include breakfast in those kind of rates to get the right value for money. Despite this we would defintely stay there again as the setting was so beautiful.

We stayed for one night with my mum. The building and site is just amazing so grand and lovely. We were given an upper floor room but because of mums mobility we asked for a room change and Geraldine and Danny were both so helpful in changing the rooms. The rooms are lovely too and really warm, heaters on and extra heaters if needed. Only thing is perhaps the bathroom is a bit cold. Dinner was great too, food was super fresh and surprisingly flavourful. We had a set menu and there was plenty of choice and I strongly recommend getting room with dinner included. Kasun was looking after us and he was so polite, friendly and super professional. Breakfast was also lovely, plenty of choice again and has all the basic necessities of a good breakfast. Would definitely come back in summer/spring to see the gardens and flowers bloom!

Comfy beds, breakfast, hotels historical references to its past were all great. However, the best part were the grounds and the attitude of the 2 groundsman who help tend them. They were a real credit to the hotel and are clearly invested in their place of work.

Had to ask twice for another pot of tea at breakfast. However, the real pity was that having checked twice before our arrival if we could book into the restaurant for our wedding anniversary and been told it was not available on both occasions, we then ate in the bar ( excellent food from a limited menu), we were then made aware that the restaurant was open and had sittings available. Just a shame that the relevant departments we spoke to did not speak to each other. The bar did have a really fascinating painted ceiling. You need to visit to see it!

Lovely location, but we were using the hotel as a stop over on our journey to another venue. The breakfast was a buffet which was great, but the tea and coffee took a long time to arrive at the table even though we were asked for our preferences as soon as we were seated.

I asked when booking if it would be possible to have rooms that were close together, I do not call one room in the main building and one room in the stable block close together or even near one another. We arrived late on a Friday night - there are no lit pathways between the buildings and no lighting in the car park either.

We didn't have breakfast as it was £15 per head and neither of us eat a large breakfast. The setting was amazing, beautiful grounds and buildings. Our room was lovely. The bar staff were incredible, so friendly and helpful. We couldn't praise them enough.

On arrival, we were told there was a £35 charge for our dog, despite the fact that I had an email quoting £30. We only paid the £30, but that seemed very high. We would have preferred to pay less and to skip the huge dog bed and other dog-related items in the room, none of which were used. Reception staff were polite but could have been more helpful. It took ages to find our room due to inadequate instructions and we discovered a great dog walk by accident despite asking about good places to walk. They could use a few tips from the bar staff!

I think this is a wonderful place on beautiful grounds especially if you like going for walks. Town is not too far if your driving and the staff are really wonderful. it was a shame I stayed in The Stables as I really wanted to stay in the main building as that’s why I chose this place.

Cutlery, plates and cups etc were not particularly clean. a few times I cleaned themself or didn’t use them due to them being dirty. Also getting the attention of staff while dining can be a challenge as either no one is there, busy or don’t make eye contact. my orders were wrong twice but quickly corrected.

This property caught my eye when I was scrolling through booking.com and I was a bit skeptical as the price was very reasonable. I booked the room after reading positive reviews and was not disappointed. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was very spacious, clean and nicely decorated to match the aesthetic of the rest of the house. The bed was extremely comfortable and the shower powerful. We had a full English in the morning which was delicious and set us up for the day. It's all very impressive and well decorated and we couldn't fault the service provided. We would definitely come back!
